I’ve been getting questions about kdrama resources and where to locate them, so I’m putting up this page to answer some questions preemptively.
I’m not a techie, so I won’t go into the details of operating these programs because I don’t always understand how things work myself! But for more information and tutorials, you can find more qualified advice on sites like d-addicts and soompi.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do you get your drama episodes?
I download them. Sometimes using bittorrent, but mostly using Clubbox as they are more readily available there.
What is bittorrent?
Torrents are a filesharing application — kind of like peer-to-peer, but safer as as they are more protected against viruses and hacking than, say, kazaa and napster programs of yore. To download via torrent, you will need to first download a program like UTorrent or Azureus. Then, you can download torrent files from a site like d-addicts, which will connect you to peers and allow you to download the actual videos themselves.
What is Clubbox?
Clubbox is a Korean downloading portal system, and the best source of kdramas and other k-entertainment. (I prefer Clubbox to torrents because more shows and files are available on Clubbox than on torrent, but torrents should have the more popular, well-known series.) If you would like to try Clubbox, note that you must be on a PC, and you must download their software — if you have qualms about downloading foreign software, you’ll have to sit this one out. CB also only works with Internet Explorer.
I downloaded the video but can’t play it.
You probably are missing codecs in your software. I’m a little fuzzy on the details, so I’ll just say that when I first started watching kdramas on my computer, I had to download three things — Windows XP Codec Pack 1.2.4 and the ac3 filter to play the programs, and a program called VobSub to view the subtitles. All are free.
How do I watch kdramas with subtitles?
Some dramas are available hardsubbed (which means the subtitles are embedded with the video; therefore to watch them you only need to download the hardsubbed video file). But by and large, most kdramas are softsubbed, which means you will need to download the raw video file and the subtitle file separately. Then, a program like VobSub enables you to play both simultaneously.
Why can’t I find subs for __ series?
If you’ve done your internet research and looked at all the usual places and still cannot find the subs, chances are the show is not subbed yet. There may be a team already working on it. The three main kdrama subbing teams all have wiki sites detailing the series they are working on and/or planning on work on: WITH S2, D-Fansubs, and B.O.N. Funsubs.
Please be patient; it boggles my mind when a new series starts, and has barely finished airing its first episode when some fans start demanding subs.
What streaming sites show kdramas?
More and more, Youtube and the other streaming sites (veoh, crunchyroll, dailymotion) are cracking down on licensing and legal issues, deleting uploaded videos and suspending user accounts. I don’t watch my dramas on streaming sites because, among many other reasons, I’d hate to become dependent on a source that may at any moment become suspended. But I bet if you looked around, you can find some creatively named files, or users with private, friends-only accounts. But don’t ask me who they are because I don’t know!

hello i was just wondering what kind of system, etc do you download from d addicts? cuase whenever i download those on like megaupload.com from soompi threads and from d-addicts.com, i cant see it because its not the right file type or whatever… thanks!
If you dl from megaupload, you should be dl’ing the actual video files. So if you have trouble viewing those files (should have the .AVI extension), you’re probably missing some codecs in your viewing software that are needed. Without knowing what software you’re using or which programs you’re running, I’m going to guess that missing codecs is your problem. I hear GOM Player is a good program to use to watch programs. I use Real or BSPlayer myself.

u can try veoh.com..but u need to install it first..the videos qualities are so great n u can play it using any player..
you can watch korean dramas on youtube.com or veoh.com or dailymotion.com. these sites have que sera sera episodes with english/chinese subs.
You can watch Que Sera Sera and Witch Yoo Hee (Witch Amusement) in veoh.com A few people are downloading it. Some changed the title.
Is there a clubbox with english interface? it’s hard when you want to dowload but don’t know where to click :(. I think they should make one with english, so it would available to world community.
I just downloaded clubbox successfully, but I don’t know how to search out kdramas to download. I’ve tried typing in various titles to search, but no files were found. Am I missing something? Thanks.

aznv.tv is also a great streaming site…its not like youtube or veoh..and they have a big list of kdramas…

), I’m a clubbox user too and mostly download from WITHS2. Love it eventhough I’m can’t read/speak korean. I believe you are very familiar with it so I have a question that hopefully you can answer. Is clubbox having a downtime or update because I can’t seem to download anything these days from any clubbox (ps: all the files I tried mostly popular or latest). Thanks in advance for any reply. hello everyone, when I first used some of the downloaded dramas that I can’t watch because there was no subs, I was about to cry, BS player works, but make sure if you have windows XP make sure you use only bs player not together with zoom player as it will shut your system seriously as it did mine.
if you use zoom player, make sure you have mpeg4 audiovideo decoder, but you will still have to right click from the files for the subs to appear (as the subs are softsubs). hope this helps meaning you still have to download the subtitle file which takes a few seconds anyway.

Thanks Javabean! After download the clubbox.exe. I tried to download from the website. After proceeding with the download click. there is a window explorer error pop up that has some Korean word with err (e114). Do you have any idea what is this error? Grateful for an answer.

Please consult the English-language tutorials on using CB at soompi. There’s no better (in fact no other) place for people who don’t know Korean who want to work out how to use CB. If you don’t find an answer to your problems, then post in that soompi clubbox forum. If you don’t get an answer, it most likely means the answer is there somewhere already.
ISTR that err 114 is a general “Could not establish connection” error. If you just installed the CB software, you will need to restart Windows before trying to use it. If you didn’t restart, then that’s where the error is coming from. If you did, you may be behind a firewall that blocks the necessary connections to your machine. But this isn’t the place to go into that kind of problem.
can someone help me cause everytime i want to login for clubbox, there is error stated error occured while transferring log in information from the sever. [CODE L004] can some one tell me whats going on….

As with #44, the only useful answer anyone can give you is to visit the Soompi CB forum. If there are persistent problems, they get aired, though not always solved, there. But most CB problems are due to temporary glitches. Nowcom are always messing about both with the servers and with the client components that get downloaded to your PC, and they often break things for a while. If you have a CB setup that worked in the past and suddenly stops working, even though you haven’t done anything at your end (and you aren’t behind a firewall whose administrators may have done something) the best thing to do is go away and come back in a day, or two, or three.

I have a very weird problem with clubbox… on the clubbox download application, it says that the file is complete, but i can’t open it. And when i go to the destination i directed the file to go to, the folder is empty!!! Am i missing out on something??!? Maybe i’m supposed to click something… Please help.

This isn’t a CB support site, but this does look to me like a problem specific to your setup where you won’t find much of use on the relevant Soompi pages, so…
1) With the CB client running, select the Config tab and check that the Destination path you have set at the top really exists, AND that it contains only standard ASCII characters, i.e. NO Chinese characters, no Thai characters, no Kana, no Hangul and no IME-generated ASCII (”full-width ASCII”) etc. etc. anywhere in the folder names. To make double sure, click the Browse button to the right of the Destination path window and check that you can select your target folder via the navigator window that opens up. Make sure also that the destination folder has enough space for the file, and that you are allowed to write to it (if you are on e.g. a family or school machine with shared folders).
2) While you have the Config tab open, scroll down to Download Configuration and check the box marked “Open the download folder when downloading completed”
3) Click the Save button at the bottom right of the Config tab.
Now go to a CB that has some small items e.g. 15s TV commercials, and download one. When the download completes, the folder you selected for the destination should now automatically open (because of 2 above). BUT the file won’t show there until you press f5, so do that, then look for the file.
If that doesn’t work, I suspect that points to something odd about your local machine rather than a CB issue, so there’s probably not much anyone can do to help.

PLease people give JAVABEAN some break PLease! If u cant read Korean, then dont even bother going in Clubbox. As JavaBean said, the torrent is the best way to get korean drama. Maybe some DDL sites up there. Using torrent is really easy. If it is taking too long to download then blame yourself for having shitty computer and slow internet. More on just go to D-Addicts.com they have everything u need; links, torrents, instructions, subs ect.

It is a great site, you might have to wait for update for some series but in the whole a friendly users site.
Not everyone can have an account with soompi because i think you have to have a certain email address, it can’t be from yahoo or hotmail, it has to be something other than those two(it has been awhile since i’ve gotten the account don’t know if the rules have changed)…..so not everyone can get an account and so they can’t get access to soompi for cb instruction…I really feel bad for dramabeans being bombarded with all these questions..i just wish i can help some of you….cb is not that hard…..but for some it can be confusing, i know because it took me a while to understand but there are a lot of great people out there who are willing to help….I think if you could(of course not violating any rules) post the instructions on your blog so people can get access to it….

i hope you can help me…i just recently found the world of kdrama and i’m hooked. i just recently purchased “it started with a kiss” and i’m very disappointed! I found out the hard way that the subtitles on the video SUCK (don’t make sense at all). Before I make my next purchase are all subtitles on kdrama videos just as bad? are there any that you know of that are exactly as shown on TV?
