Seeing as Director Eom has suddenly draped herself in Ryan Gold’s blue and gold color pallet, I would like to suggest that she is his long lost mother. (Just kidding, but wouldn’t it be a grand twist?)
Director had him before she married her rich husband, and abandoned him for money (no rich slush fund dude wants to marry a single mom). This is totally in keeping with her character.
Is she Lee Sol? Did she use to paint and give it up? Is that why she’s such a jerk about the museum, it’s her toxic way of being top dog in the art world. (She also Can no longer paint after giving up her child, the only sign of it affecting her). DID SHI AN BECOME AN IDOL SO THAT SHE WOULD NOTICE HIM? IS THAT WHY SHE HATES SINDY’S OBSESSION WITH HIM HES ACTUALLY HER BIOLOGICAL OPPA.
Sindy is Lion’s annoying little sister. This is canon now.
Also this gives a new meaning as to why she hired Ryan ~ she wanted to keep the museum in the family. I wonder if her ridiculous outfits are part of her hiding from HERSELF after abandoning her sons years ago.
@hotcocoagirl@egads yes please to all these elements: makjang twists, murderer, Dickens. also can we have a romantic (sub)plotline that doesn’t dominate the show but still adds some squee?
If this is going to be a weekender, there will be multiple love lines 😘
Where is this set? Is this a heartwarming family with a matriarch that is upset by the appearance of a foreigner in their midst? Is it a family of master suit makers? (Oooh or maybe they make traditional Korean clothing, and the newcomer wants to buy them out and switch them to making western clothing?) (is this too much like laurel tailors?)
@hotcocoagirl I never saw laurel tailors, but I lovelovelove the idea of a tailor shop. (Maybe I am thinking of Kingsmen, too, though ;)). I kind of like the idea of it all being sort of tounge-in-cheek, too. (maybe in the way Fiery Priest was, for example). Like let’s maybe an uppity little matriarchy family, but really they’re only “famous” (as it were) in their little neighborhood (but they DO have clout in that world).
@hotcocoagirl OR the reverse…like the matriarch is actually somewhat important irl, but in this neighborhood, absolutely no one knows or cares. (wait. is it starting to sound like Marry Me Now?) like she keeps trying to get people to respect her (“I AM THE DAUGHTER OF X GROUP”) and everyone is like “the-what-group? pass the salt.”

I’d much prefer this twist to the Lee Sol being Shi An and Ryan’s mother “twist”.

Yeah, not looking forward to tragic childhood connection. Maybe they will subvert this trope somehow.

@egads Challenge accepted.
Let’s build our cast and sketch the premise.
I’m going to pull a Dickens though and add a murderer at the start who will connect with our heroes at some point in the later half.
