Lee Seon-kyun off for a belated honeymoon

Lee Seon-kyun (White Tower, Coffee Prince) married his longtime girlfriend, actress Jeon Hye-jin, in a May ceremony, but due to immediate filming of his drama Triple, he put off the honeymoon till later.

Now it’s later, and with Triple off the air, the newlywed couple set off for Thailand on August 2 for a ten-day vacation. Part of the reason Lee hurried to take the trip so soon after the drama’s finish is because his wife is five months pregnant, and the further along she gets, the more difficult an overseas trip would become. The couple is expecting their first child in December.

Meanwhile, Lee Seon-kyun has one more project due out this year, the movie Paju. He plays the boyfriend of Seo Woo’s older sister, and their relationship grows complicated when the sister dies and Seo Woo suspects him of being involved even as she starts to fall for him.

Song Yoon-ah to marry Sol Kyung-gu

Song Yoon-ah and Sol Kyung-gu in “Lost in Love”

Another A-list celebrity couple ties the knot! Song Yoon-ah (On Air) and Sol Kyung-gu (Public Enemy Returns, Voice of a Murder, Silmido) — who have starred together in two movies — have just announced that they are getting married on May 28.

The couple met in 2002 when starring in Jail Breakers [광복절 특사], then re-teamed for 2006’s Lost in Love [사랑을 놓치다]. However, they weren’t dating at that time, as Song Yoon-ah explains: “We acted in two films together, but at that time, we didn’t call each other on a personal level. By some fate, we met again much later and started dating then.”

The two haven’t yet picked (or announced, at least) their wedding locale or time, but they’re thinking of bucking the celebrity trend and opting not to hold the ceremony at a hotel. “We want a simple wedding,” Song said.

May is a busy marrying month — Ricky Kim just got hitched, Jung Tae-woo held his ceremony today, and Lee Seon-kyun will be marrying long-time girlfriend Jeon Hye-jin in two weeks. Congrats to the couples.

Wedding announcements for Lee Seon-kyun, Ricky Kim

Is love in the air, or what? (Well, it IS spring…)

Well, Mr. Voice is off the market — Lee Seon-kyun of dramas Coffee Prince, White Tower, and My Sweet Seoul is getting married to his longtime girlfriend, Jeon Hye-jin.

The couple has been dating for six years, and is looking to marry next month (May 23, to be exact). Lee explained, “Hye-jin recently went on a solo trip for a month, and during that time I really missed her. I realized how empty it was without her. I want to be with Hye-jin forever.” The couple will hold a press conference on April 11 regarding their wedding plans.

He won’t have much time for a honeymoon, however, given that MBC’s drama Triple premieres in June. (Yaaayyy!! Okay, I gotta stop doing that. Must… keep… expectations… down…) Meanwhile, Jeon most recently acted in the movie The Naked Kitchen. She played So Ji-sub’s older sister in the drama I’m Sorry, I Love You, and I particularly liked her in the love-n-sex-themed cable drama Romance Hunter, where she was a career woman saddled with a dickish boyfriend.

Meanwhile, another wedding has been announced, this one for On Air actor Ricky Kim (28), who will marry musical actress Ryu Seung-joo (32). Kim is a half-Korean actor who grew up in Texas, and has been dating Ryu for the past two years. Ryu is currently performing in the musical Dreamgirls in the role of “Michelle Morris.”

Their ceremony will also take place next month, on May 4.

The romance is over for Hyun Young and Kim Jong-min

Aw, too bad. One couple gets together, another breaks up. Actress, MC, and occasional singer Hyun Young of the bubbly voice has split from her boyfriend of two years, Koyote singer and goofball Kim Jong-min.

I suppose it’s not too surprising, since there have been sporadic rumors popping up over the past few months that Hyun Young would deny. Now both sides have confirmed that they’d decided to split at the end of last year after a lot of serious deliberation. Other than that, Hyun Young and Kim Jong-min are both staying quiet on specifics, although it’s likely that their “drifting apart in different directions” can be attributed in large part to the fact that Kim has been serving his military service over the past year, while Hyun Young has been busily continuing to work as a broadcast MC.

The couple first openly acknowledged their relationship in late 2007. They started dating in 2006 after both appeared on the same KBS variety program, Happy Sunday’s Heroine 6. The 29-year-old Kim began his army duty in November 2007 and is currently serving out a public-service (desk job) position in a Seoul appellate court; he’ll be discharged in December.

It’s too bad, since I like both of them and thought they made a cute couple — Hyun Young can be really funny in a bizarre, offbeat way, and Kim Jong-min made a name for himself as the resident clown on variety programs like X Man.
