Who saw the epic tennis match at Wimbledon - in excess of 11 hours...respect but the stamina required. Heh. Obviously, someone was having their spinach.

Ahhh....for some reason I can't access dramasub.com - access has been forbidden. Was in the middle of watching an episode of "Life is Beautiful" - gah.....ah well...hopefully it will work out heh.

Poor Italy. Poor France. I foresee rotten tomatoes being thrown at the players by the fans.

@ llama
Yeah I am ready to give up on Dongyi. Tha acting was never great to start of with,but now it is boring and the actors have the same expressions most of the time. I honestly do not understand the high ratings in Korea. Definitely overrated,esp the female lead-I expected more from her after Shining Legacy,in this drama she is pretty 2 dimensional.

Coffee House and Bad Guy-please come back soooon.

Thank You to everyone in OT (special thanks to Lumi, ockoala, and Maria for the recommendations) Without this how would I know to watch Vineyard man. I looooooove geeks. A geek handsome farmer with a heart, how fantastic was that?! The first two episodes were predictable claptrap, but once you get to the farm....ooooo that was a perfect couple. Almost the same romantic level as My Girl but with more of a family longing feel. One or two episodes toward the end were kind of not needed too, but that last episode had me cheering. Thank You again.

So much to see so little time. But that still does not change the fact I want Coffee House back.

"My Sister-in-law is 19" is next. Kim Jae Won. Yippy!!

@ #4 - i actually caught up to dong yi this week and have found that it get's better. the storyline is progressing much smoother now than say ep10-20. hehe.

since i'm on the topic of dong yi... i wasn't going to follow it until the last 10 episodes (at least) were out, but i had some time to spare... so watch it, i did! AND i'm so glad i did, because now i'm all caught up and can't wait for the next episode to air.

watched music bank's first half of the 2010 specials.. hmm, good collabs specially suju, 2am, 2pm for rain's love song.

leaving toronto (and all the G20 hoopla) for some shopping in NYC with friends until tuesday.. have an awesome weekend to all!

world cup fever! i was chasing all matches, and my house got cut off from world cup completely. Argh...hitting myself!

Asia fighting! Japan and S.K went into top 16, woah!
the 11 hr match, that indeed made a mark in tennis history, The player who lost must have felt terrible X(

Currently watching "Life Is Beautiful", it's kind of different from other dramas i think, esp the love line, and i cried when in the drama, Mum and LittleSis hugged and cried in the room. it's too much for me to handle, so think i wil need to take a break from it this week. SInce it''s my exam period too...habas

P.S. taeyeon fighting!

I got the new Song Seung-heon banner twice in two clicks. Must be my lucky day! :-D Now if only someone will make an a banner of My I Lub You.

Just spend the morning staring at the new promotional pictures for Athena, put them all in my happy home so I can access it anytime. Everyone looks *good*, but its no guarantee the drama won't be a middling or even giant pile of crap. Still, my hopes, they are up, because otherwise life's no fun if I'm always expecting the worse.

Team MOB - I'm ready with my Ginsu knife for LJA.

@ belleza - don't worry about @nycgrl, I've got your back. Team USA all the way, especially since the dead beat dad of your twins won't respond to your child support payment demands.

@ itahk

Melodrama, huh?

The best melo in terms of quality is I'm Sorry, I Love You (also called MiSA).

The most popular melo if of course Winter Sonata.

The most recent melos (because, frankly, watching WS today feels a tad anachronistic what with Yonsama's orange hair) are Bad Love and Will it Snow for Christmas.

If you like revenge melos - Green Rose is fun (melo but more actual plot stuff happens than people sitting around discussing why they can't be together).

Hi Java Beans and Girlfriday!

Well, I dont have any crazy stories to share because I live too far away from Korea (I am from Brazzil) to try anything crazy for an actor, I woould probably do what I did during a Megadeth Concert, which was to be thrown by the crowd (yeah, a mush) to try to get near the vocalist, and the result was pretty catastrophic, I fell of a height of 2 meters and brusied my legs and head.... = D !!
Anyway, my K-Drama addiction started in 2007 after having my intern contract terminated and I was pretty much broke without any perspectives of amusement so my only relief was to see videos on YOUTUBE and there it was, my first K-Drama was Taste Sweet Love and I pretty overhealmed after watching I havent stopped ever since..
Some of my habbits have changed after experienced about 50 dramas:

- when I'm happy I say Aja instead of Hey or Viva!
- I started enjoying spicy food;
- Sometimes I sleep with my clothes on just like in most dramas, why wear pajamas? lol
- I read all the time the discussion forums on ViiKii and tweet about addiction, although Im pretty alone on this subject, since in Brazil dramas has a very illed connoctive sense (it is for old ladies who are dumb and have nothing better to do... cant blame them, Soap Operas / Dramas in Brazil have been decreasing their level each day it passes);
- It even changed my taste in men, my eyes sparkle whenever I see Korean or Asian guys;
- I even have skipped outings with my friends or studying hours to finish watching dramas (the last time I did that was to finish Glass Slippers and Boys Over Flowers);
- There's a neightboorhood in São Paulo, Brazil, called Bom Retiro where are there many Korean people there and there's a video store filled with Korean Movies and Dramas and I wanted to rent Be Strong Geum Soon so I tried to talk to the owner but she couldnt understand me, so I tried to speak the little Korean I know and she started to look at me like I was retarded... (I was pretty nervous and I was stammering a lot );
- On the same day I met two Korean boys in a Greek pub and I could understand parts of what their were saying and they noticed so they started to speak in Portuguese;
- I try to control myself, but, sometimes all the examples I try to use to explain anything (and I mean anything) its related to a scene or a story I read about a Korean Drama or Actor...

I guess that's it.... I am pretty sure that Im far away from getting this box, but I thought I should give it a try since I love Jang Geum Suk and Park Shin Hye is so cute and the drama is all so cute!!

XOXO
Paula

MiSa and Will it Snow would be rewatches for me - but enjoyable rewatches. MiSa for general quality and Will it Snow for Go Soo (swoon!).

New topic: Kang Ji Hwan!
1st: Props for the banner with the conversation bubble/heart & KJH. Great design, simple and spare with a lot of impact.
2nd: I'm so impressed with KJH in Coffee House. Never seen him before until this, and he really makes the different aspects of the character believeable. I liked him so much I watched 7th Level Civil Servant just to get through the 2 weeks of world cup barren-ness.

Well, beside my giant craving & addiction for Giant.

I had a strange weekend

Yesterday, I saw a homeless lady. She looked extremely parched and unhealthy. So I offered her 5 dollars. She turned and looked at me and said, "I only accept 20s. Do you have a 20?"

I stared at her and uttered the only word that could come to mind, "huh?"

She stared at me and said "well, if you haven't got the money, say it!"

I apologized and walked away in a daze. I was extremely confused. I wondered if she was actually a homeless. She had her little cart, dirty hair, and everything. Perhaps I had offended her. She was, indeed, about twice my age. Maybe she thought I was snooty and was trying to give me a taste of my own medicine. I don't know

Hmmm, i'm supposed to be studying at the moment, but I just can't bring myself to. Is there a remedy for procrastination? ;) if somebody knows one, please contact immakiddo immediately

For those of you guys who can't get enough of KIM SOO HYUN these days, type in "Kimchi cheese smile ep 62 3/3" on youtube and you'll find yourself a treat :) [sorry, I can't give the link becuz in typing on my ipod D:]

he sings and kisses a girl in this episode. *sobs* I had no idea he already did a kiss scene!!

Goggle Battle of Dan-no-ura......the Taira is my lineage. We lost the battle but we are in the history books! Also...out of that came a famous "obake" story about the heike crab. I was watching some obake movies on the japanese station a few years ago and they were showing several stories and the one about the heike crab was shown....I didn't know the significance of that story at that time. I wish I had spent time listening to stories from my grand father....he was not the type to talk much but I knew he was the important figure of the family. He sat at the head of the table, no one talked during meals, his place was set with his chopsticks and rice bowl and sake every dinner time, he was the one who get the "furo" ready in the afternoon, he was the one who sat at the stone when mochi was pounded. I never knew how important he was until years later after he passed on.

today, my children and grandchildren are inspired when they listen to stories about "ojisan"...there is a sense of pride in hearing that there is a samurai sword on the wall of the oldest son's; oldest son's home. :-)

Almost forgot..the Soju drinking game for DongYi works wonders. Every time one of the actors pops open there mouth and eyeballs in shock... one shot. If you get a group reaction of 2 or more characters overacting with the big eyes and stupid fly catcher mouth... 2 shots. The show becomes not only entertaining but quite funny. :::Warning::: do not exceed 2 bottles of soju no matter how horrible the acting. Hospitals for alcohol poisoning is a bad idea :)

Hurrah for Friday!

Outside of kdrama land, I'm now only down to one and half weeks of a five week French course. That also means one and half weeks more of waking up at 6AM to go running before I take a mini-vacation from that. Tonight, though is salsa dancing and drinks.

Kdrama-wise I'm getting into the classic dramas I always have read about, but never watched - until now! Currently on episode 4 of Sandglass and planning to watch All In after that. Both through dramafever. Considering the feel of Sandglass (which I think is missing in a lot of current dramas) it's pretty addictive so far, especially with "spot the actor/actress in their earlier roles" so maybe I'll be at least halfway through by Monday! I also happened to watch DeathBell thanks to the promo for DeathBell 2 getting me curious. Not bad, but if it was made into an American thriller/horror...omo that would scare the holy bejeebus out of me.

@36 angryparsnip

I'm the loud Azzurri fan around here. I feel bad because Italia a) left 2 young great players off the team and went with all veterans b) only came to play 1/2 of the time (much yelling at TV from me for that - actually for 2 of the games I was chatting online with an Italian friend and we went seriously into non-family-friendly terms in at least 3 languages with our comments about the team) c) got robbed of 2 goals in that last game and d) the coach had no concept of how to make that team motivated.

They are not the flashiest team - playing mostly a defensive game, they are also not the dirtiest or the most oscar-worthy. They did not deserve to advance with the games they were playing, but they CAN play better, which makes me sad.

At least they didn't flame out in the French fashion. Evil person that I am, I'm still grinning about that one.

Argentina still looks like the team to beat.

OTOH, I'll be spending the weekend at an indoor soccer arena, so WOOT! Big screen time for the world cup for me!

@34 diadda
I'm impressed if ANYONE other than my parents can watch DongYi without resorting to soju (or in my case sake). I'm a saguek junkie and that just jumps on my last nerve. I still have to queue it up on the TV twice a week for the parents, then I go hide.

Oh, and someone needs to light a fire under Pandora, because I need to watch Yankee-kun 10 NOW!!!!

16-20 episodes?

Here goes:

Damo - 14 eps - the fusion sageuk to end all fusion sageuks - if you don't cry when watching it you are made of wood.

Tamra the Island - 16 eps (21 eps director's cut) - funny, sweet, poignant, the happiest sageuk I have ever watched (one of the happiest dramas I have ever watched, period).

If you don't mind going longer:

Hong Gil Dong - 24 eps - uneven but really addicting and adorable and meaningful.

Chuno - 24 eps - uneven as well, but dayum is it heart pounding, rip roaring thrills + a rip your guts out acting performance by Jang Hyuk.

You must not have been watching the WC closely then. Normally I would say sth similar in tone to what u've said. But the American played cleaner than most (even Brazil, all that late hits, grabbing and tripping is UGLY and unnecessary when u have the talent and skill to boot!), they are more coherent a team than most. Talent wise they may not be up there w/ say the South American teams, but they bring their A game in the game against Algeria. Sometimes teams do advance in way more controversial ways (yup les Bleus) Sometimes teams deflated by bad refereeing (or by lack of heart) ...Azzurri, but the USA team hang on even when a goal was denied, PK not given, they played till the very end of stoppage time and was rewarded by an amazing team goal. That's the beauty and fairness of football. Nth is impossible. May the best performing team win.

I watch every WC w/ my dad. Either I ship my own behind back home or I beg my parents to visit. As a HKer I did whine to my daddy I dont feel 'belonged' and have ONE team I must root for because of my nationality. And my dad said, ' how about just rooting for the team that played the best, nth wrong w/ that. It freed us up to appreciate the game as it is.'

US may not be a passionate football loving nation, but it's the team, the players themselves playing, with or without the countries' support behind them and they've been doing a great, commendable job thus far, way better than much higher ranking team (is it really nec to have the meaningless world ranking anymore?!)
