girlfriday: Spaceships are a pain to get licensed for anyway. Thanks to everyone for your birthday wishes and anniversary cheer! Without further ado, drumroll please…

I am learning Korean as well as fansubbing now. I pretty much spend my life immersed in Korean culture. I learned to cook Korean food as well as jam out to Kpop all the time.

It might not be something super special, but it makes me happy! <3

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SO FANATIC FOR KOREAN DRAMA!! and i constantly check this site just incase i have not watch the episode or since its raw and i cannot wait for subs, this site is heaven!
eversince i watched k-drama, i've been literally revolving myself around korean food, incluing kimchi, kimbap, the bbq meat and more.
the live octopus looks delish *wink winks*
and eventually all this craving to taste the actual taste of korean food eventually made me set a goal to visit korea before i get married. (a bachelorette needs to explore, you know) kekekekeke

my parents even know that i would sleep at dawn watching my personal dvd collections of k-drama, and sometimes i do get grounded, but HEY! its k-drama, you just cannot leave a second of your eyes off the TV.

overall, i am obsessed with dramas especially the ones that cracks me up!

You Rock dramabeans!
LOVE YOUUUU :*

Korean dramas have turned my world around... since I began watching during my developing years...
I learned hangul. My notes in school and my review materials all have bits and pieces of words written in korean. I also am continuously learning korean... Started eating and learning to make all kinds of kimchi, porridges, even making ox tail soup in the middle of the night... Celebrating my lunar birthday and all the 14th events of every month, (ie eating jajangmyeon on black day).
All my contacts on my smartphone, korean or not are listed using hangul.
I stopped using shiseido and started using laneige and iope... I even changed my mom's cosmetic line to sulhwasoo and she loves it too.
But the biggest thing I did in name of watching Korean dramas is to introduce Kdramas to my whole family, friends, and relatives...At home, once a week, I get to prepare a korean dinner and my whole family uses chopsticks, then sometimes I bring out a store brought makgeolli and have some with my parents. I even convinced my mom to buy a portable projector so we can watch series on a bigger screen than our tv.

Since I began watching K-dramas I've noticed that the way I move and talk has changed. When things don't go my way I no longer yell out "bummer", but I say "Aiish". And when I'm telling people to come over I do the palm-down-hamster-movement that is typically asian. I didn't even notice it untill my parents asked me what I was doing.

I work as a substitute teacher in the public school system here, and we actually have quite a few exchange students from Korea that come over to spend a year in Canada and learn English. If I know someone is Korean, I'll hunt them down and start talking about my favorite Hallyu stars and Kdramas and music! *^^* Sometimes I'll even try practicing my Korean with them. We also get Korean University students that are studying to be teachers who come over to do their practice teaching in schools in Canada, and I've talked to them too about my Korean obsession. One Korean guy in particular that was a University student was younger then me, so I jokingly suggested that he call me Nuna ;-) to which he replied
with big eyes "oh! You know this word!" k k k :-)

I also love buying Korean food and eating it while watching my KDramas. They sell ramyun noodles at the grocery store, the instant kind like what Han Ji Eun took with her in Full House when she went to China, it always goes well with a KDrama! :)

My story isn't too different from the other commenters - I love Korean food, makgeolli, have been learning Korean. Getting into kdramas has also made me watch Korean films and I always go to the film festival in London, where I'm usually like the only non-Korean person there, which is quite fun (and embarrassing) :) actually most British fans of Hallyu wave are only interested in Kpop but I think Kdramas are so interesting for social and cultural perspective. I think I'll take a module at university in Korean history, either Joseon or Korean War, because I really want to understand the sageuk dramas :)

Kdrama food always look super good, so I went to a real Korean BBQ place for the first time recently. It was soooooo good!! Must go again!

For me, I've been watching korean dramas since "Autumn In My Heart" came out and since then, I fell in LOVE with dramas. Friends call me a drama addict, but somehow I'm proud of it because it's a good conversation starter. I am a Korean descent so I already eat kimchi and do those 'regular' Korean customs, but since the last time I've been to Korea was when I was 10.. This summer since I've been more mature and more in love with the Korean customs, I was able to enjoy and experience the things I've always wanted to do or visit where dramas took place or the "hot spots" where celebrities are. Although sometimes dramas can effect our teenager's mind of how love is like and how we expect something to happen, it is still so entertaining. It changed my life to make my life more creative and thinking differently than what I did before I started drama. Every time I watch a new, exciting drama I am ALWAYS attached to it and listening to their OSTs and reminiscing the parts. Sometimes I would even imagine before I go to sleep that I would be the main character and what would've happened. I even think of what the next episode would be like and make a bet with couple of my friends on what would happen next. Korean drama has changed my life drastically making my life more interesting.. Sometimes I wish my life was a Korean drama and thinking all those hot actors starring in it makes me want to become an actress.. Ha... but still a girl can dream :)

Oh I forgot to mention.. Since I was born in the US, I was taught English as my first language. Watching dramas really helped me improve my Korean because of all those slangs, definitions, etc. When older women or fob friends I have ask me where I learn these Korean definitions, I would always reference back to Korean dramas HAHA :}D

After watching k-dramas, i started watching k-variety shows like Infinity Challenge, which has become my favorite weekly show, then Family Outing and now Running Man. I listen to k-pop, from OSTs to idol groups, to trot, to hip hop. I visit the Korean market, and I love kimchi, spicy ramyun, choco pies, and yogurt drinks. I'm also learning Korean.

I now crave kimchi, a food I'd never heard of before watching dramas. I actively sought it out until I found it; kimchi really does taste as good as the dramas make it look. I started collecting kimchi recipes, and plan to start making my own...much to my children's laughing horror. Now I just have to tackle bibimbap, and break the local liquor store owner down into getting some soju.

I have been obsessively looking for the "water drop" sound for my cell phone. I still haven't found it. :(

I've begun looking up Korean legends to read. Somehow I feel like I need to know the story before I actually, you know, watch the story. I've learned to really appreciate how rich Korean history is.

I also started using Korean words in my everyday conversation without realizing it. My son's Taekwondo instructor is duly impressed.

I realized I'd been jaded by so many other productions, because I'd forgotten how hot hand holding, eye gazing, dancing tango, hugs, and kisses could be. I keep wondering if I can convince my husband to take me on a bus date, go and eat noodles at a questionable sidewalk stall, and then give me a piggy back ride after I drink too much. So far he hasn't gone for it.

It was a memorable experience to watched them play live during the Asian Cup especially the qualifying match against Japan. (Daehan minguk! clap clap clap clap clap!) ...And lurking here and there to any blog site to feed my korean drama addiction...

My wife, who is not Korean, is so hooked on K-dramas, that we now have a collection of K-drama DVDs and OSTs - something that I never even consider having before she made me sit down and watch her shows with her. I even found myself saying "Fighting!" once in awhile when the situation (and the company) called for it.

What new thing have you done in the name of K-drama?

Well, I call my brother and sisters oppa and unni. I learn how to make gifs and music videos to share my love of my k-drama with others.

Has becoming a K-drama watcher made you start eating kimchi, travel to Korea, or switch to soju as your drink of choice?

I have not travel to Korea yet even though I want to very much. I'm still saving up money for that. My brother have been to Korea though so I got some souvenirs from there. I did start eating kimchi and discovered that homemade one were better than the store bought one. I still have not try soju yet but I definitely will one of these days.

Tell us about some way in which watching dramas has changed your everyday life.

Well, the most important change is that I am lacking sleep almost everyday. I look terrible now with all my dark circles. I blame this on so many good dramas coming out at the same time. I start learning and using new Korean terms in my everyday life. This new habit is driving my parents and siblings crazy. Hihihi! I know a lot more about Korean cultures and history than I do of my own culture. My parents really dislike this fact. I want a Korean boyfriend now, which is driving some of the guys that want to ask me out nuts because that is the reason I use to turn them down. There is more but I want to stop now before I sound to crazy.

What can I say...I'm 'Crazy In Love' with K-drama!

Congrats to all the winners of round 1. :)

Well, K-Drama literally changed my whole life style. My way of thinking is totally changed as I now think in some Korean even though I'm not fluent in the language! I also want my life to be like a Korean Drama, like legit that's my life goal to live life as if I were in a Korean Drama. My life is completely Korean-ized. I literally can't make it throughout the day without doing anything Korean-related. It's like food, you can't live without food can you? :)

I took Taekwondo for four years, but I didn't take any interest in Korea until I started watching dramas.

Since my introduction to kdramas, I've become more and more interested in Korean culture. I tried making my own kimchi and I started to scout out all the Korean restaurants in the area. Dramas also motivated me to make a trip to my local ktown, where I found a place that sold complete drama DVDs. I've started to teach myself Hangul as well, so hopefully I won't be too clueless on our family trip to Korea this summer!

After watching many K-Dramas, I moved onto Taiwanese and Japanese. (But so far, K-DRAMAS ARE BEST!)
I started eating Korean food (My father loves it now!)
and every now and then, a Korean word would slip out of my mouth!

Kdramas chaged my life. I started to say "aish" all the time, because i love "my name is kim sam soon" i she was always saying that. I started to eat noodles every sing time i watched a kdrama (and i gained weight). I think that the men in my country don't know what romance and beautifull words are. And i made a promise to myself: went to korea, get drunk and on the next day to eat hangover soup (like in kim sam soon) and when i went to korea last year i did that and i was the best thing eveeeeer! But the worst was that i started to act cute in front of men, all because of the typical korean female leads....

ps: i am portuguese and live in Portugal.

Oh, where to begin? I've started to try to teach myself Korean, reading up on Korean history and politics, made my husband sit down and watch some k-dramas with me (he actually doesn't mind now!), gotten some jewelry from my favorite dramas, bought a tablet computer so I can watch k-dramas on netflix in the bathtub, and every once in a while I let slip a "fighting!" or "oppa!"! Gotta love k-dramas!

Apart from investing time in Asian/Korean-related interests, such as commiting myself to the Korean language and looking up recipes, I started with uncousiously replying with "de" to question asked by people who, startled, reply to my question with "what?". :P
It's stupid.
I also began fancing some Korean fashion styles - except for everything that's rosé and looks cuteeey - oh and I admit having more Kpop songs on my mp3-player than American and European pop songs combined and multiplied by three. :)

And I'm writing all this down with my dweggitokki plush sitting next to me. I think "obsessed" sums up my life changes, but I have no complaints! ;D

Because watching kdramas raw and understanding every bit of it... is KICKASS yo. And I eat RAMYUN all the time now and practically have eaten in every korean restaurant in town. Kimchi's not one of my favorites though haha.

I watched the k-drama "Gourmet" last year and that got me into making kimchi. Seeing all that food eaten and mentioned in so many dramas . . . it's hard to see what I'll cook next.

Even starting the new drama "Kimchi Family" has me thinking, just one more container of kimchee can fit in my fridge. I also send batches of it to my sister for her snacks.

Next up, trying soju with friends!

After getting hooked with Kdramas, I started to mumble korean words. Get used on singing Kdrama OST then tuned in to Kpop. Now I know how to read and write Hangeul but unluckily I didn't know the meaning of what am i writing or reading!! LOL!! As time passed by, I became the source of Kdramas in our school. They will ask if I recommend the drama and so on. And yah, because of watching kdrama, I got curious on how soju taste like and drink some..
Because of that, i ended up watching only through online because of the possible release of Kdramas.. Became a fangirl for real! (I take it seriously and its fun!)

My parents are Korean, but I was born in the US and grew up in Canada. I can understand some Korean, but I'm FAR from fluent and I didn't learn it growing up (I could only understand some because my mom would speak Korean to me...and I would respond in English!)

I never really felt the need to learn it or the motivation until i got into K-Drama Land and now, of course, I wish I had grown up learning Korean!!!!! Now I'm working on learning Korean, starting with the basic stuff like reading hangul and numbers, dates, greetings, etc.

It's fun to learn although I'm definitely not one of those people who picks up languages easily. Oh and also I plan to go to Korea to teach English in a few years!!! (And of course travel around and eat yummy food ^^)
Can't wait. Meanwhile, I'll keep watching those dramas..hehe

I started eating kimchi. The first time I brought it home, I went and ate it out on my back steps in the dark so my roommates couldn't smell it. Fortunately, I moved away soon after that so now I can eat all the kimchi I want. And I've picked up saying "Whaiting" with the encouraging fist pump. Unfortunately, no one knows what I mean. I've also been excited to be able to pick out words in Korean, and I can actually say actors/characters names now instead of just "the girl the main character likes."

After watching so many kdramas, I feel like I've turned way humungo due to the late night snacking while watching dramas and learning Korean but it’s all worth it! Also I was never able to eat spicy food but now I can handle much more because I’m always constantly eating Korean food since there’s way to much good food out there to pass on by.[damn you dramas and your ramyun!!!! always making me crave for it:(]
There are also times where I accidentally start to talk to my friends in very simple and short Korean phrases and they would look at me like “WTF”. Sometimes I’ll say words like “ aigooooooooooo……..” or “aish” without even realizing
Another thing is I feel like I’m more up to date with the Korean world in terms of music and idol news than what’s actually happening to American idols and so on; which is kinda sad……
But one bad thing that kdrama has done to me is making me stay up all night to finish it and leading me to major sleep deprivation.
I’m absolutely hoping I can go visit Korea this year!!!
P.S HAPPY 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!
