Song Seung-heon and Jo Yeo-jung headline erotic melodrama

Well, you ask and you shall receive. Song Seung-heon (When A Man Loves) has confirmed that he’ll be taking on his first 19+ erotic film, called Human Addiction, the new project from director Kim Dae-woo of The Bang-ja Chronicles and Forbidden Quest. Jo Yeo-jung (Haeundae Lovers) will be reuniting with the director to play the heroine.
The movie is set during the Vietnam War, where Song Seung-heon plays a superior officer who falls in love his subordinate’s wife (Talk about an abuse of power. Just don’t tell me he sends the guy off to die on purpose!) and Jo Yeo-jung plays the wife who falls for Song Seung-heon. The two have a torrid, scandalous affair, since this is an erotic melo after all.
Historical erotic melodramas are certainly a retread for Jo Yeo-jung after Bang-ja Chronicles and The Concubine, so I see exactly why she was cast, even if it feels rather repetitive. This’ll be new territory for Song Seung-heon, and I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether it’s a good career move or a bad one. Somehow I don’t think Song Seung-heon in less clothing will be considered a bad thing by anyone around here.
Once it completes casting, Human Addiction will start shooting in October for a release next year.

I think that is a big factor in k-dramas. Hard to look sweet and innocent to the fans on prime time TV when you just got all nekkid and stuff in your last film.
I don't really object to erotic stuff in dramas, but far too often it is tossed in to cover up bad acting, writing, plots, directing, etc. (Just like in Hollywood).

Honestly, I don't that's necessarily the case. Son Ye Jin has had similar film roles as Jo Yeo Jung but still gets cast as sweet and innocent roles (i.e. Personal Taste).

i agree! i guess it wld be hard to get an innocent type kinda role for her now! she's come a looooong way in Terms of Endearment drama with Hanga In & Ji seung she was playing a rather simple type of sister to her & she just turned into this sexy kinda roles lately!

I feel like it has more to do with--this is just a notion I am getting-- there aren't a lot of actresses willing to take on erotic roles? I can only name a handful that I've seen that are well known. And that's possibly why she got the role as well--she's well known. They probably wanted someone with star power that matches up with the towely guy, ya know?
It's the same with action roles-- I feel like you only ever see the same two actresses in those.
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with an erotic role. It depends on what the actress is comfortable doing.

Really, this would only be her third film with erotic content. Had they been spaced out throughout her career, this wouldn't be a big deal. Jo Yeo-jung's had her fair share of "sweet and innocent" roles; it's her choice first and foremost to take these roles. I guess to be fair, she could deliberate more time between these explicit films, but she's done rom-com dramas in between as well.
Pretty girl, and I'm happy for her relative success. She's a refreshingly cute face in the ocean of pale, plastic actresses these days (not hating, just being frank).

I really like Jo yeo Jung bc she seems really like a nice person outside and i wish she would stay away from roles that needs take her clothes off. It seems that directors would mostly cast her bc of that.
If she would do more dramas, it give her more exposure and expand her fan base.

Director Kim Dae-woo had a deft touch in "Forbidden Quest" - an excellent film.
But then again, he had a well written script and 2 powerhouse actors in Han Suk-kyu and Lee Beom-soo to work with.

Maybe she likes working with the director? She's done other stuff as well but I think her big break was Bang ja chronicles (which I think was a interesting twist in the story).
Other actresses have done plenty of bold parts in several movies and done just fine. (Uhm Jung Hwa for one)
