Chun Jung-myung and Kim So-hyun pair up for OCN thriller

I know what you’re thinking: He could be her father! Technically, I don’t know whether he’s going to play her love interest, her dad, a killer, or a cop, but in any case Chun Jung-myung (Queen of the Night) and Kim So-hyun (Suspicious Housekeeper) are in talks to play the leads in cable network OCN’s newest thriller Crying Game, formerly called Ten Days Ago. I’m hoping that the show won’t try to sweep their nineteen-year age difference under the rug; I mean, I know Chun Jung-myung’s a babyface, but the girl is still in high school.

Chun Jung-myung has been attached to the project for a while, and Kim So-hyun is reportedly considering. The drama will be about a crime with ten days left before the statute of limitations on it runs out — someone is desperate to keep that crime hidden, and someone else is desperate to uncover the truth. So far we’re not told who’s who, just that these two actors are up for the leading roles. Who knows, maybe they’ll play mortal enemies. The drama is described as a thriller about the string of consequences a man faces as a result of a crime he committed fifteen years ago.

It’ll be a 10-episode series, and comes from PD Kim Yong-kyun of the horror movie The Webtoon and writer Ahn Young-soo who worked on Itaewon Murder Case. The drama has been in development for the better part of a year, but hopefully the fact that Chun Jung-myung has stuck with it all this time means something good. I do really like both actors and am happy to see Kim So-hyun playing more and more roles that aren’t someone else’s childhood backstory. Maybe we’ll get a great spine-tingling game of cat-and-mouse.

OCN is currently airing the forensic procedural God’s Quiz 4, and is planning to follow that with a series called Bad Boys. That puts Crying Game at the end of the year or even early next year.

I feel like the actors are getting younger and younger!!
Maybe I am just getting older and older... >.<

Yes, this is her. I doubt they'll go romantic with a minor, so I am guessing we might get an ajeossi-sidekick type of duo or enemies. Which I can dig, since I'm tired of romance being a main point in most dramas and this is an OCN crime series, so alternative pairings are doable.

Yeah, I agree. I expect it to be a relationship like Cheo-yong's and ghost girl's in Ghost Detective or Yoon Sang-Hyun's and Kim Ji Won's in Gapdong.

Excited to hear news of this :)

And, well, if they do go for romance (which I doubt)...well we've seen bigger gaps. I do think we should be waiting until actors reach their 20s. It'll probably just involve her crushing on him though.

If this were some 22 year old and some 18 year old, it would still be dealing with an adult and minor, legally, but depending on the romance, be morally acceptable. I mean, a cute romance or rom-com romance would still be ok. But 34 and 15? Hell no.

Given kdrama loves going for overly dramatical and twisted relationships and that we have too big an age gap between the minor and adult here, they should really not go there.

As you say, it will be like Cheo Yong or Gap Dong, if they do go for that. Although I doubt there will be any such feelings involved here.

I'm hoping it would be some kind of Big Daddy/Hit Girl (Kick-Ass) kind of relationship. He's all serious and she's all feisty/spunky/comedic/plucky.

Since the statute of limitations for murder (I assume that is what this is about) is 15 years in Korea, I would assume it has something to do with perhaps the girls parents? **

** Although the statute of limitations in k-dramas is often stated as 15 years, that is not totally correct. For premeditated murder and/or any murder that could result in a death sentence, it is 25 years. Supposedly, in 2012 the law was supposed to have been amended to remove any statute of limitations on murder, but it only applies to cases that happened after 1997.

That is relevant because in Gap Dong, they say that the original murderer could not be prosecuted, but in fact he could, as the 25 year limit would apply.

Yep. In the States, "vomit" = "throw up" = "puke" = "barf"

There are trendy euphemisms, as well, but they come and go.

Cultural note: when an American says they were "worshipping at the porcelain throne," they are not mis-translating a Saguek. It's something you do after you drag yourself home from a drinking bout.

Lol, I thought I was the only American that says that!

Also, I do that worshipping in my chamber of relaxation...

I thought it was "Driving the porcelain bus".

I like both of these actors. I just wish we knew more about their (possible) roles and more about the plot. Still, sounds interesting.

For love's sake, give me TEN season 3 and Vampire Prosecutor season 3 then you can produce any drama you want. Come on OCN, you can't do this to me, don't leave me hanging like this!

Well, if it's OCN, I don't think there will be much romance going on, lol. If they are teaming up together to solve a case, that'd be pretty cool, though!

It would be fun if this plays out like Phoenix Wright with the actors lined up - like with Maya and Phoenix's partnership. The synopsis reminded me of some of PW's cases, lol.

I am interested in any OCN drama, so I might watch this (As long as those two are not going to have a romantic relationship which will make it akward) but i really really really hope they bring back the Season 3-s of Ten ♥ VP.

Arghhhh..even 3 Days didn't have any romance part at all..Just a little bit cute-awkward moments between hero and heroine..But still it is a success drama..

Hope this drama will do the same..Just focus on the main theme okay..come on KDrama, u can do it!

I can only hope that they will be paired with something that I can tolerate and make sense. I love both of them and I hope the drama love them too to just waste them up.

He better not be her love interest, that's just wrong in every way. I think it'll actually be more of an ajusshi/sidekick thing, no way you can pair a middle school student with a man in his 30s *gag*

I find it funny when the news about male lead n female lead come out, everybody seem always comment compatible or not as a lover. I don't think male lead n female lead always lover in the drama, i guess the main lead doesn't always lover, i find it funny too when i heard comment, he's not the main lead of this drama because he /she end up with the other guy/girl
