First Script Reading for tvN’s Catch Yoo-ryung with Moon Geun-young, Kim Sun-ho

The cast and crew of tvN’s buddy-cop rom-com Catch Yoo-ryung recently got together and held their first script reading with lead actors Moon Geun-young (Village: Secrets of Achiara) and Kim Sun-ho (Woohoo Waikiki 2). Also present were supporting cast members Jung Yoo-jin (Romance Is a Bonus Book), Ki Do-hoon (Arthdal Chronicles), and Jo Jae-yoon (Rescue Me 2) among others.

The story of Catch Yoo-ryung is centered around a team of police officers assigned to monitoring Seoul’s literal underground world – the expansive and hectic subway system which services 8 million people in a given day.  However, the team is put on red alert when a serial murderer nicknamed “the Ghost” is discovered to be lurking within the vast subway network and they set out to capture “the Ghost”.

Within the transit police team, Moon Geun-young plays the role of an eager rookie cop named Yoo-ryung, who has a tendency to always act first and think later. While Kim Sun-ho plays the more cautious and by-the-books police team leader, Ko Ji-seok. There’s some wordplay in the title as our protagonist’s name Yoo-ryung and the Korean word for ghost are homophones.

The cast and crew all shared their high expectations and how much they were enjoying working on this new project together. And Kim Sun-ho joked that he would do his best to not get caught by the criminals.

On the production team, PD Shin Yoon-sub (Come Back Ajusshi, Rooftop Prince) will be in the director’s chair; and writers Lee Young-joo and So Won will be working together on the scripts.

I do hope this will be good because it’s been far too long since Moon Geun-young was in dramaland. Fingers and toes all crossed!

tvN drama Catch Yoo-ryung is currently set to premiere on August 26, and will be taking over the Monday-Tuesday timeslot after Designated Survivor: 60 Days concludes its run.

Moon Geun-young is one of my most favorite Korean actresses, but all the projects she chose after Cinderella's Sister couldn't hold my interest. This drama unfortunately sounds like another one. Glad to see her again though, I was quite worried with the news of her compartment syndrome in 2017. Wish her all the best.

I really like Achiara's Village though and I think that's actually my favorite project that she was in.

I missed Moonie so much since I couldn’t watch Achiara’s Secret. So here’s to hoping this will be good and will hold my interest since I also like the other casts.

I'm anxious to see Kim Sun-ho again as he is terrific in some of his dramas (Two Cops and Strongest Deliveryman) but not all. I like hearing his voice and seeing his smile. He can really add to and enrich a drama with his presence. I am hoping he will be great in this one. The actress is a veteran and maybe will bring out the best in him.
