Drama viewership ratings for the week of May 18-24, 2020

Drama ratings were looking pretty bleak last week (save for a few hit shows), but I’m happy to report that things have turned around. Well, sort of. We still got a lot of low numbers, but with a new mix of shows and some pivotal episodes, there was at least a little bit of change. And right now, even the teeniest bit of change is good for me.
At the beginning of the week, the two lone shows Born Again and Good Casting continued to fluctuate. Then, in the middle of the week, Soul Repairer took quite a hit, dropping down to 2.3 percent. Taking the spotlight were newbies Old School Intern and Mystic Pop-up Bar with 6.5 percent and 3.6 percent respectively. For this timeslot, that’s mighty impressive.
Finally, at the end of the week, we had Hospital Playlist’s penultimate episode come in with a high of 13.1 percent. (Can’t wait to see what the finale gets!) The King, who’d been having a hard time keeping its audience, actually saw a rise in numbers — if it’ll last, I don’t know. The last newbie was Team Bulldog, replacing Rugal on OCN and premiering to 1.9 percent.

Not surprised at Soul Repairer's poor ratings. Bad writing combined with really really bad psychiatric tropes will do that.

With what happened in ep11 of The King, glad that the ratings picked up in ep12. The plot is moving, finally.
But oh no for Mystic Pop-up Bar. It was actually a lovely premiere and not so bad.

Hospital Playlist is ending soon. So I reckon the ratings for the later episodes would very likely witness some good increase if the quality is kept consistent.

JTBC is not one of the "big 3"- it is a cable channel. So it's shows tend to get lower veiwership.

As you guys know the rating is so low in this despite great story and actors and there is a reason. In korra people are boycotting this show and telling others not to watch it even out of curiosity..because the pd is involved in a scandle about a girl who killed herself in 2009... i really feel sad for actors . Is it really a proper punishment??anyway sorry but i am gonna enjoy it because he is gonna be paid anyway and he is only a little part of it and it is soooo unfair to actors which i love

8.1 on a major network for a Saturday is still terrible. If the ratings even climb to a 9.0, the drama will still be a failure. It was the only drama aired on Friday and it still only had 6.6. Sorry to say but this drama can not be saved and become a hit. But maybe it will withstand not dropping any lower. Sad.

Yes, I know that the ratings are still lower for a major network. It does make you wonder what the numbers are like on Netflix since it has a wider audience. Not good for SBS though since they need the ratings in a local scale.

It's unfortunate that The King's most exciting episode so far (at least for me, I haven't seen the 12th yet) had a low number. But we really can't blame the viewers. Still, it's good that the show has recovered on Saturday.
And as always, I'm happy that Hospital Playlist is well-loved. The world needs more of that warmth the show is giving.

You consider an 8.1 on a major network as recovered?? IMO it would have to reach over 10% to get hopeful and over 20% to be recovered and I just do not see that happening. It is a terrible drama in every aspect.

I think it just means the ratings picked up in ep 12 (please correct me if I'm wrong @uzistar).
The highest rating for King is about 10%, so to get 8% for ep 12 could be considered recovered in some sense. Most viewers are sensible, there's no way the drama will reach more than 10%, let alone 20% with the remaining episodes. I really hope the ratings maintain between 5-10% and not dip lower. I feel for the cast and crew. It was touted as drama of the year, but it didn't meet expectations of many.
Imo, the drama is doing good with whatever pieces it has left. Plot is moving forward, sure it could have been better. But with whatever it has left, and whatever it currently is...there are viewers who enjoy it. Including an unexpected me. Hahaha

The actress not into the king and his hair never out of place no matter what the situation he is in that kind of drama vehicle. I am not surprised the rating didn’t live up to his intensive good looks.

I'm not surprised by Born Again's extremely low rating. This type of low rating on public station means nobody watch Born Again even for free. LOL.
As for Oh My Baby, I thought Jang Nara has a knack for picking up quick paced drama. I guess people are just not into this type of drama yet.

Welp, good luck to Jang Ki Yong. Now that you finish filming for Born Again, go to military and come back to improve your acting.
Cause it's sad to see someone who has potential to be good actor but turns out to be a fluke.

I love JKY. He has potential. But it also depends on who he's acting with and who is directing him. I guess when paired with JSY we can't get anything. I can't seem to like LSH either. Lol

Yes, after seeing him in Kill It and Born Again, it seems like his acting skills are unstable. I thought his performance in CaHM was good, but seeing him in Kill It and Born Again makes me question him.

He was partly interesting as a serial killer in Kill It. But the story barely had anything for him to do aside from brooding. I liked him in WWW though. That's why I'm not watching Born Again to preserve my fond memories of him. Lol. I hope he chooses a better drama next time.

I keep wondering why JSY still gets cast. I've not seen her have any chemistry with any of her male leads! PS I don't understand LSH's appeal either... Will preserve my WWW memories of JKY like you and avoid Born Again!

I really like Oh My Baby and think Jang Nara is doing a fantastic job as usual, but I'm not surprised by the ratings. For the most part, SK hasn't really been into rom-coms for a while now and one titled Oh My Baby was always going to be a tough sell.

I like “Oh My Baby“ a lot for many reasons. And Jang Nara of course doesn’t disappoint as usual. It is also a quick paced drama. Hopefully ratings will improve in coming episodes.

I am not watching TKEM but I was expecting an increase since The World of Married ended. I wonder if they have the same timeslot or overlaps with Three Meals A Day.
I hope Mystic Pop-up and Oh My Baby gains more viewers ❤️
Happy for Hospital Playlist as always but not looking forward to the season finale. The long wait for the next season like Kingdom is so agonizing!

KETM has a 2% ratings jump and everyone is still talking negatively about this drama. I am so tired of it. This is a very good drama for the intellectually superior person. Its like when I used to watch the show FRAISER.. it was a smart show, not for everyone.. lol. This is a smart drama and you have to watch carefully.. I hope the ratings continue to increase, even if its not doing well in Korea, its doing very well internationally. KETM CAST and CREW!! HWAITING!!!!!

LOL, on the everyone's cup of coffee. Yes, they were forever at Cafe Nervosa. So many wonderful episodes, my favorite was probably when Fraiser found out Niles had the higher IQ by 3 points, lol.

I'm happy for Mysic Pop Up bar as the premier was really good. I hope the ratings for King will improve considering the latest two episodes were pretty intense and story did pick up the speed. Also hope the same for Oh my baby!!
