Premiere Watch: Sell Your Haunted House, Law School

There are two very different dramas heading our way this week — Jang Nara’s latest supernatural fantasy, and a more serious and cerebral look at little things like murder, law, and the justice system. I have a hunch both will be decent dramas, so the question is: which are you in the mood for? They don’t strike me that they’ll pair very well, which makes their competing time slots seem pretty sensible. Decisions, decisions.

Sell Your Haunted House

Time slot: Wednesday & Thursday
Broadcaster: KBS
Genre: Supernatural, fantasy
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: It’s Jang Nara time again, yay! She just doesn’t stop — and that’s a good thing for us, since her dramas are generally heart-warming and adorable. But we’ve got something a little different with Sell Your Haunted House: a playful supernatural premise about exorcists, Jung Yong-hwa as our leading man (which feels strange yet refreshing?), and the PD from School 2017. Jang Nara runs Daebak Realty, which rids properties of ghosts and spirits, while Jung Yong-hwa is a con artist that doesn’t believe in them. Supernatural dramas either fail or nail, and I’m expecting this one to nail it. And while I might not be 100% sold on this pairing yet, I’m more than ready to be convinced.

Law School

Time slot: Wednesday & Thursday
Broadcaster: JTBC
Genre: Legal
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: Dry title, lively premise. Law School is set at a prestigious, well, law school, where the likes of Kim Bum and Ryu Hye-young are learning from the best law professors around (namely, Kim Myung-min and Lee Jung-eun). It sounds like trial by fire for the students when there’s a murder on campus that they work to solve. I can’t put my finger on exactly the tone this drama is going to go for, but if the PD’s past works are any indication, there should be a lot to sink our teeth into beyond (or is that because of?) the legal setting.

I will be watching both. I do hope they are good. Law School I giving me How to get away with murder vibes and that is not good, the show was so ridiculous I had to drop it after 2 episodes despite my love for Viola. I will watch anything with Jang Nara.

This is me. I'm not excited about the HTGAWM vibes. I'm hoping it's more original than that. I will check out opening week for sure.

I like both Jang Nara (who doesn't!) and Jung Yong-hwa (don't ask me why, though IMO, he can't really act), but the show description doesn't make me want to watch at all. I think I'll be skipping this.

I’m getting those vibes too! Probably influenced by that series

But I enjoyed HTGAWM although I only watched 2-3 seasons. But I would understand if people with background on criminal law don't like it.

I'm not a criminal lawyer, but I am a lawyer and the law school scene was so ridiculous and fantastical that I couldn't take it seriously. It wasn't even in the realm of possibility of law school, so it took me out. I imagine that is how some doctors feel when they watch medical shows. Lol

I'm in law school but SAME! I've always wondered why doctors rolled their eyes at grey's anatomy but now I get it ctfuuu. First years just quoting statues off the top of the dome on the first day of class?! Kids laughing at another person for making a mistake while being cold called?! A professor walking into the class and just launching into a case with no intro into what happened and asking obscure logic from a first year law student?! Just the lack of logicalness in the murder and how police are acting. I'm here for the actors like Kim Bum, David Lee and Ryoo Hye-Young but going in with a clear mind pretending as if Korean law is so different from US law that all their actions make sense and excuses everything lol.

They were laughing because she said masturbation and they are a bunch of college kids.

I'm really looking forward to Law School.

I will try Sell Your Haunted House for Jang Nara, but I have found every drama with ghosts and spirits boring.

I will watch anything for Jang Nara too but I a.m really scared of ghosts. Just thinking of them creeps me out. I guess I just have to close my eyes when ghosts appears.

I am with you on House - will try it because of Jang Nara, but not really expecting a lot from it. Most of the ghosty dramas end up being stupid and full of plot holes or overdone tropes, though a few I have seen are decent.

I watched the first episode of DRE without understanding much. I find it pretty decent, CGI, acting and all. Though I have bias for Jang Nara so I may not be a good judge. I just hope that it continues to be good.

Well, I'll watch haunted house because of Jang Nara.
As for law school, not really my cup of tea. Kim Bum, however, is. I'll at least give it a chance.

I will be watching both- "Sell Your Haunted House" will be on Viki and LAW SCHOLL is on Netflix. If I did not have work to get back to I would be watching the first episode right now.

Watching both a little bit later today! Law School sounds like "How to Get Away with Murder" premise? But then I never watched "How to Get Away..." though.

And of course gotta check out Jang Nara's latest project.

right now I'm watching the first episode of Law School, I didn't know what to expect, but although it's so soon to tell, it seems like it is my type of drama, simple.

So far I am in 100% for Law School, not decided on House yet. I like Jang Nara, but the plot so far sounds a bit over used.

I would watch an hour of Kim Myung-min just doing PPL. Law school will be on my watch list.

I love supernatural fantasy and Jang Nara's drama choices are generally good. Also looking forward to Sell Your Haunted House.
