Why are the ratings of Sh**ting Stars so low?
🥲

Because people are frankly tired of formularic romcoms.

"Again my life" also had good vs evil/bringing injustice to light/eradicating corrupt officials formula, but it got good ratings. So, there are other factors to be considered I guess.

It has an amazing cast and plenty of veteran cast to boot. Plus, this good versus bad theme will always strike a cord in many or audiences at large, unlike rom-coms only

appeal to a certain demographic, plus...along with the fact that it is going against the giant called Our blues and Liberation Notes, where people can reflect and connect to the characters.

hope they keep making these formulaic shows that were common back in the day because it's a nice, cute nostalgic genre and there's way too many "cool" shows now trying to be like western shows even sometimes. hope these old vibes and formulaic tropes continue.

Supply and demand...the broadcaster will refer to the ratings. As of now, makjang, thrillers, slice of life and family dramas are ruling the charts.

I think it simply boils down to the star power and a relatively weak start. I would argue that the show is better than MLN, but it definitely isn't as addictive.

omg 1% r u kidding 😭 wHY?? i don't get it omg is it us, are we the outliers??? 😢

I feel like this could be Weightlifting Fairy 2.0 where it'll gain a cult following once it's more accessible

At this point we can only hope it gets some traction after it has finished airing.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL NOW is still struggling. I am guessing that this is because it has fewer of the makjang-like elements of its predecessor.

I am surprised how simple and rational the characters are. I actually liked it but I guess it is too urban and modern for the target audience. And almost lack of hysteric characters and a poor plucky girl. (yes, we have the youngest FL, but she lives in a small but pretty neat flat and manages to buy expensive baking ingredients in spite of apparent poverty) :-D

But I guess it is going to heat up and pretty soon.

Two shows I’m really enjoying are both around 1%, but I never seem to be on the pulse of Korean popularity. Except for Goblin back in the day…lol.

I am salty that Dujun’s latest kdrama is on Netflix Korea without any subtitles, and not even mentioned. Sure, it’s on a new unknown channel, but it looks hilarious, and just what I need right now.

I am also hoping that Dujun's drama gets english subs, but it looks like it's doing well in Netflix Korea so hopefully that's a good sign? :'(

Thanks for the reminder @ally-le. I would also have liked to have had a chance to see Yoon Doo-joon’s latest drama NEVER GIVE UP. It is unfortunate that it isn’t available here in the US but what else is new.
The whole world of drama licensing is so byzantine.
My YDJ dramas are the 2 episode special SPLAH SPLASH LOVE (2015) and RADIO ROMANCE (2018). He was terrific in both. I have been waiting for his return.
Viki used to pick up dramas like this from non big 3 sources back in the day.

He’s really good in the “Let’s Eat” series! I’m sure you already know that.

Yes. I never got to see any of the 3 seasons and I just checked and it looks like none of them are available on a legal site in the US.
