Why her? has been getting increased ratings on Saturdays some weeks but this week it dropped. I wonder if this is a reflection of the change of pace on Friday night when it felt like a very different show.

What's wrong with Link. There's not stiff competition yet it's faring badly.
I hope It's Beautiful Now picks things up next week with the makjang bait that was this week.
EAW really doubled up its digits😁.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL NOW actually slipped backwards, which is a shame.

But the even bigger shame are the ratings for EXTRAORDINARY ATTORNEY WOO, despite having Park Eunbin as a major draw. What gives?

And it actually seems like the total ratings for all the shows combined are lower- am I wrong? If not why?

SK still tracks ratings by Nielsen People meters attached to TV sets. It tracks the time and channel switching when the TV is on. The focus is still on the first run of an episode, so it does not necessarily track re-runs or other platform viewing like internet or streaming. The best ratings are for now is the judge how "buzzworthy" a program is to the locals.

This makes sense. Part of the problem inherent in the old rating system is that it does not capture streaming as such- and even those places that try to do so cannot do it well because some people may delay watching a show for more than a week or even wait till the broadcast is over and then binge watch it.

Attorney Woo is on a new channel. The ratings are pretty good considering it's new.

Ooppss..did some googling and found out ENA isn't exactly new. It's an old cable channel but rebranded. I noticed the old cable channel before when I was looking at Penthouse airtimes, the cable channel used to rebroadcast Penthouse series when it aired.

No, you are not wrong because there is no breakout drama like Business proposal or Again My life. Each is strongly holding it niche set of viewers which implies the shows are not bad per se but not good enough to grab a larger audience. However, there is potential for Alchemy of Souls, Extraordinary Attorney Woo

That makes sense too.

There definitely isn't a breakout drama right now but viewership doesn't necessarily say anything about how good or bad dramas are, just what captures the attention if the audience. Niche dramas can be critically acclaimed and breakout dramas can really really suck.

Link should have higher ratings than Cafe Minamdang, imo.

I'm going to fearlessly predict that "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" will start to climb as more people discover its charms. Won't be a blockbuster most likely, but I can see it hitting 5%.

I agree that this could happen- it ratings doubled from in the second episode from what it was in the first.

Agree about EAW, been seeing clips from the eps getting really good numbers on youtube and the show hit #1 on Netflix Korea's Top 10. Definitely expecting it to see it rise!

Extraordinary Attorney Woo crushed the buzzworthy list, so it's definitely being talked about and getting attention in SK. It has a good chance of rising.

I’m happy to see ratings double for Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Hopefully the numbers go up even higher. The first two episodes were a joy to watch.

I don’t get the antipathy for Link. Well, okay, i kinda get it. It’s odd and not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m loving the show so it hurts to see such mediocre ratings. I wonder if it would’ve had more international buzz if it wasn’t locked up in the Disney+ prison system. Doesn’t have anything to do with domestic ratings obviously, but just something that came to mind.

5% isn’t *that* high by typical KBS standards, but it is better than a lot of their recent fare. Maybe Cafe Minamdang will be that commercial hit that has eluded my beloved Seo In-gook for a while. I guess time will tell.

Not too surprised about Alchemy of Souls going up. It’s a Hong sisters project after all. Right now, I’m cautiously enjoying it - just waiting for it to disappoint as all their shows inevitably do. I’m just glad for Lee Jae-wook and Jung So-min. Lord knows their previous projects did not win in the numbers game.

Saying prayers for both Jung Somin and Lee Jaewook. Maybe we will get a miracle like HOTEL DEL LUNA. I remember that when that happened it was not the script but rather what the two lead actors and the director did with that script. I am not familiar with the director, but I do not that we have two great lead actors here so there is a least a chance of lightning striking twice.

Compared to the last few months, ratings are pretty sluggish, but they always seem to be in the summer.

Link's ratings make me sad. Koreans seem put off by everything I love about it.

The ratings jump for the second episode of Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a good sign, especially considering it's airing on a small, new cable channel. It must have had good word of mouth.

Alchemy of Souls seems to have settled in the 5-6% range, which is decent, but a bit low compared to what tvN normally gets in that timeslot.

Based on observation, dramas during winter have better ratings than summer dramas. My theory is people are busy enjoying the warm weather, going out and about, watching TV is not a priority. Whereas when it's winter and cold, people stay indoors and watch TV.

Therefore, I think if a channel has a drama they think is a sure hit, better arrange it to air during winter-spring, probably increased chance for better ratings thanks to the weather 🤣. Also winter-spring is closer to baeksang nominations time = more buzz.

Indeed true. Most of us will enjoying summer outdoor until Fall season. Hence, we either binge-watch the series later or we skip it all.
But, I had my early share of vacation and empty pocket to travel again 😅😅😅 so yeah...stay at home watching Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Viki, whatever subscription that I have 😬.

I love Link, a bit sad looking at the rating. The story is super good, the topic is quite rare but kind of hard - it makes me wonder how will the writer and director solve the issues; especially how to move forward when you lost a family member (without knowing their whereabouts)
