New poster for ENA’s upcoming rom-com Icy Cold Romance is perfection

They had me at the matching flower slippers. Though the first teaser for ENA’s Icy Cold Romance looked good — and I’m living for this pairing — something about the main poster just nailed it. It’s pitch-perfectly staged, full of color, and also gives us a sense of the relationship between our leads.

Lee Da-hee (L.U.C.A.: The Beginning) plays variety show PD Gu Yeo-reum. She’s been friends with Choi Siwon’s (Work Later, Drink Now) Park Jae-hoon for 20 years, but things are set to change. And that all happens when Jae-hoon becomes a contestant on Yeo-reum’s dating show The Kingdom of Love.

If friends-to-lovers isn’t your catnip, I don’t know what to say, but surely you can get behind this pairing. If ever there were two actors I didn’t know I needed together, it’s these two. I’ve been a big fan of both since I Hear Your Voice (Lee Da-hee) and Oh My Lady (Siwon) — both ancient dramas according to current standards — and I can’t wait to see the magic they will conjure up onscreen together. May this drama become the next Bottom of the 9th With 2 Outs, only better.

Directed by PD Choi Kyu-shik (Hush) with Kim Sol-ji (Pegasus Market) writing, Icy Cold Romance follows Good Job on October 5 in ENA’s Wednesday-Thursday slot.

Now I have watched a couple of variety shows and The producers I have a better idea about what to expect and I am in. Friends to lovers without noble idiocy would be perfect. Hoping it is in my area its not showing up in the coming soon yet.

without noble idiocy or love triangles, or mean girl rivals or random murder, it should be fine.

Sounds good, will check it out.

Curious about random murder part. :-D Which (all) shows you are referring to? In fact we should do a list of shows with Friends to lovers arc but with unrelated elements (like the above mentioned random murders) :-D

Ok, so Cheer Up has had a spooky apparition, a legendary prophecy that says a member will die and the female lead is seeing blood splattered visions.

All this in the first episode of a cheerleading squad. 🙄

Sometimes the title is different. In my area Vike will carry it as LOVE IS FOR SUCKERS.

Thanks for that, I had added that to my watch list but had not connected the two titles. I usually check Asian Wiki to see if there is another name for it.

Asianwiki calls is "Love That Will Freeze to Death".

Guess something will freeze over before everyone agrees on a title.

:-D I was assuming it is not on Viki because the title was not in the "Coming Soon section". Later when I checked Choi Siwon's filmography, I found it!

I am looking forward to this. It is on Viki in my country. Also I was happy to see someone referring "Oh my lady". That is how I was introduced to Choi Siwon. And friends to lovers is definitely my thing (been there, done that!)

I loved it- it is actually a favorite of mine and in fact I have re-watched it once.

To me it is the perfect Noona romance.

I have not re-watched it but it was indeed a perfect noona romance. And Chea rim's Dal ja spring was another perfect noona romance.

Well now I have to check it out. Thanks in advance :)

@luckyduck If it makes any difference to you, Dal-ja spring has Lee min ki in it! :-D

Yes! I loved it! I am not sure I can re-watch it but I really liked it while watching it. I started checking out his shows after it. And I liked Chae rim and watched "Dal-ja spring" (And loved that one too)

I really liked 'Oh my lady' when i watched it.. Noona Romance done right. May be I should attempt a rewatch. None of the new shows are sticking..

2

And I liked the old school show. It reminded me of another old school show called "The last scandal of my life". (The scary ahjussi in "I can hear your voice was SML in it)

I find it really hard to recognise female actors in posters like these… When their natural face shapes, quirks and expressions have been airbrushed, it makes them look so different!!

Pegasus Marker writer! That's promising. Please let it be quirky. I only really like Choi Siwon when he is playing a weirdo.

"If ever there were two actors I didn’t know I needed together, it’s these two."

Yes. This is definitely on my Watch list: Lee Da Hee (✔) Choi Siwon (✔) Friend-to-Lovers (✔) Pegasus writer (✔)

I've liked Lee Da Hee since seeing her hilarious bickering w/Lee Kwang Soo on Running Man and then she was the lovable bad ass on WWW. Choi Siwon was the best 2ML in She Was Pretty. Cute, funny, playful, mischievous, smart, intuitive, caring. He was the first one to notice her and later the one who preferred the real her over the transformed kdrama makeover one.

The friends-to-lovers trope is always welcome and Pegasus was amazing. Too. Much. Fun. Over the top crazy but had some heartfelt moments w/some rom com thrown in. But then more fun craziness!

I'm excited.

Lee Da-hee was my favorite character in WWW. She is simply fabulous.

Choi Si-won was one of the all-time best second leads in SHE WAS PRETTY. I have been a fan ever since.

I too hope that having the writer of PEGASUS MARKET penning the script will mean comedy gold. Given that this is a friends to lovers story it really should. Casting Choi SI-won as ML was a stroke of genius in itself- this is what he is best at. Add to that the sheer dramatic range and passion that we know Lee Da-hee can bring to a performance: This actually is more important in a comedy than in other shows.

I am hoping that this is a rom-com that will indeed be a true comedy. We know that the writer understands comedy. Choi Si-won has proven that he can do comedy well. I have confidence that Lee Da-hee can do this as well.

I have very high hopes for this one.

Sincerely hoping for some romcom excellence from this pair. Many of the recently anticipated ones did not live up to my (admittedly lofty) expectations, but if there’s one I really hope bucks the trend, it’s this one.

I will definitely check this one out.
But, boy, the shows you mentioned made me feel really "ancient"...according to current standards!😅
I watched practically every old k-drama I found online!!
