Kim Rae-won, Sohn Ho-joon, and Gong Seung-yeon are The First Responders
by solstices
SBS’s upcoming drama The First Responders puts us on the front line alongside the people who are the first on the scene in crisis situations. The Korean title is a quirky one, literally meaning “the police station next to the fire station,” and that’s exactly what we’ll be getting — a close look into how both work hand-in-hand to resolve cases and rescue lives.
The first member of our main trio is police detective Jin Ho-gae, played by Kim Rae-won (LUCA: The Beginning). His name is particularly on-brand, since it sounds like “Jindo dog” — a breed that’s known for its exceptional hunting prowess. Negotiation is a no-go in Ho-gae’s books; once he has someone in his sights, he won’t stop until he’s apprehended them.
Sohn Ho-joon (Stellar) plays courageous firefighter Bong Do-jin, who’s willing to rush into fires without a moment’s hesitation. He’s described as being a bulldozer while on the job, but he’s ingenuous and gentle outside of work.
Rounding out our trio is Gong Seung-yeon (Bulgasal: Immortal Souls) in the role of paramedic Song Seol. Compassionate and deeply empathetic, she doesn’t let even the tiniest scratch slip past her notice. Though Seol often finds herself shedding tears, she’s resilient at her core, and she’ll do whatever it takes to ensure that her patients receive the help they need.
The drama’s first teaser doesn’t offer much in the way of plot, but it does give us a glimpse into our characters’ jobs. Through a montage, we see each of them hard at work arresting criminals, extinguishing fires, and administering CPR.
Directed by Shin Kyung-soo (Joseon Exorcist) and written by Min Ji-eun (Partners for Justice 2), the twelve-episode drama will premiere on November 12.

If this is ER style adrenaline rush with the staff characters’ stories then I am up for it. If there is too much murder, mayhem, guts and gore I will walk away happily. Looking forward to seeing if it lasts the four episode test.

I'm happy with the fact it's only 12 episodes. At least, if they decided to connect the 3 of them with a serial killer, it won't last too long.

Fire Responder + Police is enough material to develop a script on. Serial killer should take a backseat, please. Just go a thousand miles away.

Firefighter+serial killer=OCN’s A SUPERIOR DAY my 1. (so far) Stinker of the Year and 2. bean of shame. I would have so much preferred Jin Goo as a firefighter doing what firefighters do like presumably they will do in FIRST RESPONDERS/THE POLICE STATION NEXT TO THE FIRES STATION.

I've waited for this to be announced here on DB for too long.
It's been long I saw Sohn Ho-jun. Since GBC.

This should be a good one. Kim Rae Won and I go way back and he is a solid actor plus I do love a good rescue show. My only qualm is if they do CPR please make it look realistic like the right way to put your hands and the right counting. Most seem to do it too fast and hands all over the place. As a retired nurse this always make want to jump in screen and show them how! I'm sure i can overlook it though if this is a good show.
