Drama viewership ratings for the week of Dec. 5-11, 2022

This week in drama ratings, Reborn Rich breaks everything as they surpass 20% for their Sunday episode — especially impressive considering Alchemy of Souls 2 also premiered this weekend (to very nice but nowhere-near-that-huge numbers). Meanwhile, The Forbidden Marriage also had a decent premiere on MBC and will hopefully gain some viewers in its second week.

Reborn Rich and Alchemy of Souls 2 do not air at the same time (10:30 vs. 9:10), but even if they did, Alchemy of Souls 2 is not its competition.

Why on earth they need to compete again? They are both different genre, different charms and differs in many level acting powerhouse.
I just know that they both doing great so far, in their own league. Why can we support both of them rather than determining who is higher that one other? 😬😬😬😉✌️

I was referring to the "especially impressive" comment because Alchemy of Souls 2's premiere has no effect on Reborn Rich surpassing 20%.
The only drama that Alchemy of Souls 2 is competing against is itself. As long as it surpasses Part 1's 9.295%, it'd be a success. While Reborn Rich is competing against The World of the Married's 28.371%.

Forbidden Marriage can NEVER match The Red Sleeve, the actors are lacking in gravitas. Light and fluffy saeguk does not do well this year

No one, including MBC, expects The Forbidden Marriage to match The Red Sleeve when they're different genres. The Forbidden Marriage is a romantic comedy.

Alchemy of Souls is not in the same league as Reborn Rich...cant even reach 10% or make it to the top 10/15/20 highest rated cable dramas of all time. Thus I don't believe AoS2 is anything special.

as expected - and pretty cliche perspective of audience - as i've said it many times before - it literal hate rich campaign and it gonna have real damaging impact - well those who deceive themselves would be liable for their own actions. pretty cheap bait - to pull rich in everything.

You might find the first episode of The Forbidden Marriage difficult to get into some people were able to get onboard straight away, it took me until the second episode but I am glad I kept watching as it was a fun watch.

I keep trying to watch "Reborn Rich," but I realized when revenge is the primary theme I tend to get bored. I'll keep trying, though, because I feel like I'm missing out on something good.
I loved every second of the first two episodes of AoS2, and I find those ratings to be decent. I'm sure the network hoped for a bit more, but they'll likely grow to near or over 10% in the coming weeks, imo. I also like that "May I Help You" went up a bit from their first few weeks. I enjoyed "Unlock my Boss," too, but I can see that that'll likely remain a niche watch, similar to "Love All Play."

Yes so sad for the cast and crew to see such low ratings when they have loyal viewers. I loved Love All, Play so hoping Unlock the boss numbers climb.

Reborn Rich is the best 2022 drama for me personally. The hook, the twist, and everyone in it, they are amazing.
The topic is quite heavy - business, stock, finance - it's surprising me that it got such a high rating, because it's not fluff or rom-com.

Reborn Rich is a tapestry of characters study that while the characters respond to events with certain predictability, their reactions are still fascinating to watch - credits to the spot on casting and prowess of everyone’s acting.
I reckon Korean viewers will have additional enjoyment from merging the past / future national and international events.

I'm quite surprise too with reborn rich rating. I was expected it will be 10% rating at most.. Drama with so much heavy stuff going on tend to not draw viewers that much, but usually has a loyal followers. There is a few exception and might be this is the one.
Reborn rich and extraorinary woo rating really surprise this year despite I was looking forward to it because of people behind the scene.

Romcoms are the one that sucks at ratings. Our Blues, Military Prosecutor Doberman and Little Women are dramas with heavy topics as well..

Wow, I just started The First Responders and I think it's fun, but I wasn't expecting it to have such nice ratings. Good for them!
I can predict Unlock the Boss will suffer like Gaus did. 🥺
My kpoper heart needs to watch Reborn Rich (yep, everybody watching for SJK while I got shocked and excited for Tiffany and Jin Young, don't judge me 😆), and the ratings make me believe the show is fun so now it's on the top of my watchlist.
The Forbidden Marriage deserves more love. I think this is the first REAL romcom we have after Gaus and Small Town.

This could be a naive question...but Alchemy of Souls..is this the only one associated with Netflix that's making the ratings? I wonder how Netflix-supported dramas do in Korea generally?

These dramas are not influenced by Netflix or other OTT . They are watched on TV by Koreans, which are kbs, sbs, tvn, jtbc and mbc.
Other dramas that made the ratings previously are Reborn Rich (ongoing),
Completed: Mr Sunshine, Hospital Playlist 1 and 2, Vincenxo and Under the Queen's Umbrella.
