Shin Mina

  • Shin Mina (Our Blues) is considering an offer to star in a new rom-com called Because I Want No Loss (roughly translated). In an oldie-but-goodie set up with our two leads getting fake married, her intent is to not lose out on things (just because she’s single), while he desires not to inconvenience others. Still in the planning stages, the series will be written by Kim Hye-young (Her Private Life). [Star News, Xports News]

  • More group posters have dropped for tvN’s Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch, with our heroes unleashing their colorful powers and standing against the fiery red demons. Starring Jo Byung-kyu (Stove League), Yoo Joon-sang (Alchemy of Souls), Kim Se-jung (Today’s Webtoon), and Yeom Hye-ran (The Glory) amid an ensemble cast, the action-fantasy premieres on July 29. • Uhm Tae-woong (Wanted) confirmed casting for the upcoming I Kill You, which co-stars Kang Ji-young (Doctor Cha) and Lee Ki-kwang (Lovely Horribly). Directed by filmmaker Yoo Ha (Pipeline, Gangnam Blues), the crime-action began filming earlier this month and is aiming to broadcast later this year. [News]
  • SNSD’s Tiffany Young (Reborn Rich) has been added to the cast of the period drama Uncle Sam-shik, joining a powerhouse lineup that includes Song Kang-ho (Emergency Declaration), Byun Yo-han (Mr. Sunshine), Lee Kyu-hyung (May It Please the Court), and Jin Ki-joo (My Perfect Stranger) among others. The series is both written and directed by filmmaker Shin Yeon-shik (Cassiopeia). [MBC]

    Tiffany Young

  • SBS announced that The First Responders 2 has been slated for this summer, premiering in just over a month on August 4. With our main trio Kim Rae-won (L.U.C.A.: The Beginning), Sohn Ho-joon (Work Later Drink Now 2), and Gong Seung-yeon (Bulgasal: Immortal Souls) reprising their roles for Season 2, the crime-thriller will follow Revenant in the weekend slot. [News]
  • We may also see Gong Seung-yeon a second time this year in the slice-of-life travel drama I’ll Take the Trip for You. Also starring Yoo Joon-sang (Alchemy of Souls) and Kim Jae-young (Love in Contract), the novel adaptation is currently busy with filming. Written by Jung Hwe-hyun (Radiant Office), PD Kang Sol (Delivery Man, Show Window: The Queen’s House) is at the helm. [News1]

I saw something yesterday about a press con for The Whirlwind, Kim Hee-ae's new political drama by writer Park Kyung-soo, and expected to see it in News Bites. If there's a press conference that means it's this week or next, right?

I’m sad that Han Suk-kyu turned it down. It would have been a 3rd reunion with Kim Hee-ae in a more than solid writer’s drama.

hmmm... I can't find any new updates but I probably just jinxed myself and something will pop-up in the next hour 😂

She and Sol Kyung-gu (and D.O.!) did have a press con for their film, The Moon so they may have discussed Whirlwind there?

I've been wondering about this one! We haven't heard anything for a while it seems.

Drama gods, 1 has to be with an age appropriate male lead.

2. Are we having a DC universe with Uncanny Counter 2?

3. Whoops! Uhm Tae-woong is back on screen. I've only seen him in QSD.

4. Lee Kyu-hyung 🤭🤭. I'm in.

5. The First Responders had better get their house in order.

6. I'll wait for more news on this.

Uhm Tae-woong used to be a DB favorite “Uhmforce” until he screwed up and ruined his career. It’s his personal life but this is Korea and K-netz are not very forgiving.

His earlier dramas (Rebirth aka Resurrection, The Devil) showcased his talents.

1) A fake marriage always is a good plot for a rom-com!
5) I love this kind of drama!

I am excited for the Shin Mina one. But it all depends on casting good ML for this to work.

1. I would totally watch Shin Mina in that romcom setup with that writer. I hope this works out!

2. Getting very excited for this (even though it’s a second season!). My plan is to start season 1 tonight, so I think I’ll have enough time.

4. Intrigued. I'll need more info about plot to come in before I decide how intrigued.

6. I didn’t watch First Responders (how was it?) so the second season doesn’t really hold any excitement for me, but Gong Seung-yeon’s next project does! And I skipped Love in Contract, so also looking forward to seeing Kim Jae-young again.

Does Yoo Joon-sang ever take a break? He seems to be everywhere at ounce all the time.

All of this makes me realize I have miles to go in K-drama land. I don't recognize anyone from anywhere (with exception of Byun Yo-han and Lee Kyu-hyung.

I have been around a little while but still run into actors who dramatically are blank slates to me. For example I will be watching the upcoming drama on Viki THE MIRACULOUS BROTHERS.This will be my first ML Jung Woo drama and his first credited drama on AsianWiki is in 2005.

I am sure though that you are familiar with the guy at the top of the page. The guy in the blue, white and red sweater.

No. 4. UNCLE SAM-SHIK. I have added this drama to my list of period dramas since the story will take place in the sixties. Great cast. No network is hooked up with this thing yet that I can tell.

Practice makes perfect! But it is hard to keep up with all of them no matter how long you've been hooked on Kdrama!

1. Shin Mina in a romcom? And with a fake marriage setup? This is a dream come true. Is it too much to ask for Kim Jae-wook to reunite with this screenwriter?

2. Haven't seen the first season so I'll skip this as well. My superhero fatigue extends to dramaland.

3. Uhm Tae-woong... now that's not a name I've heard in a while... and honestly would've been fine with not hearing anytime soon tbh.

4. The rest of the cast is so inhumanely superb that the thought of Tiffany, a relative rookie as an actress, is genuinely jarring to me, even if it's likely that she'll be a supporting character at most.

5. Why does everything need a second season now?

6. I'm just here for Kim Jae-young. He's so pretty.
