Premiere Watch: Maestra – Strings of Truth

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Music, mystery
Episode count: 12

Reasons to watch: You can feel the intensity of Maestra: Strings of Truth straight through the screen — and I’m only talking about the promotional materials. Lee Young-ae takes the stage as our illustrious conductor who has to fight her way to the top and then fight to stay there. When everyone around her becomes a threat to her success, the secrets in our conductor’s past threaten to come out, the stakes are high, and the passions are fiery. It goes without saying that Lee Young-ae, Lee Moo-saeng, and Kim Young-jae will be an explosive trio. *Cue intrigue*

TL;DR: Lee Young-ae takes the stage and we take our seats

D‘oh, then I can’t even trial-watch the first episode. Sad.

This is giving me Tár vibes, and I’d have liked to compare the two. (Also, the music could be phenomenal!)

Bah humbug! Hoping for it to jump onto Hulu so I can watch it. It looks intense and musically beautiful.

I googled it and Google suggests that it might be or become available on Hulu. But that could be bad info.

It looks like I was misled- the link takes me to a "bundle' that included Disney+.

Thanks for the info. I have it on my hope to watch in the future list and will keep checking to see if it does become available. I am watching Revanant right now on Hulu.

The premise doesn't sound interesting, but after Inspector Koo I can't just blow off a Lee Young-ae show without giving it a chance.

I really enjoy the first episode.
Lee Young Ae as the central of the story is mesmerising here, and the music is awesome.
I hope the drama stays enjoyable til the end.

This has to be one of the oddest reactions I've had to a premiere. In the first five minutes I cringed so hard I wanted to throw in the towel. But by the end of episode 2, I must have hollered several times: Oh no she didn't! Oh yes he did! Then, raced right up the big screen to make sure I didn't miss the big reveal. Solid makjang! And even in this soapy show, Lee Young-ae is a revelation.
