ENA presents their upcoming drama lineup for 2024

In what’s now become standard procedure for K-content platforms, channel ENA and production company Studio Genie are the latest to join the ranks in releasing their upcoming drama lineup for the year. Although it’s only been a few years since they’ve started creating their own shows, there’s been quite a few gems that I wish had better viewership ratings and I’ve been rooting for ENA’s underdog journey to success.

Studio Genie’s 2024 dramas are as follows and I expect most will be releasing on ENA, though it doesn’t seem to be confirmed for all of the shows.

Drama: Crash
Release date: May 13
Need to know: Lee Min-ki, Kwak Sun-young, and Heo Sung-tae lead the traffic police squad in an action-comedy, vowing an oath to serve and protect the public from villainous drivers who need to learn how to mind their lane.

Drama: Your Honor
Release date: TBD
Need to know: Adapted from the Israeli TV series Kvodo which also has an American remake, the crime-thriller has judge Sohn Hyun-joo going head-to-head with mob boss Kim Myung-min. Resulting in a fierce struggle between fellow fathers, the former is desperate to protect his son by covering up a case, while the latter is out for payback on the culprit who murdered his son.

Drama: Parole Examiner Lee Han-shin
Release date: TBD
Need to know: Based on the winning entry in Studio Genie’s writing contest, the story follows our title’s hero Go Soo as he enters his career with the goal of revenge and wields his position’s power to enact justice. The crime series also stars Kwon Yuri, Baek Ji-won, and Lee Hak-joo.

Drama: Drunk Romance (previously In the Name of Alcohol)
Release date: TBD
Need to know: In an opposites-attract romance, our heroine is the rough and tough Kim Se-jung who was once on the special forces and now works sales at a liquor company. Fate then leads her for some love-sparking shenanigans with the super sensitive Lee Jong-won, a master brewer of local beer.

Drama: Starry Night (previously Namib)
Release date: TBD
Need to know: When talent agency CEO Go Hyun-jung is pushed out of her company, she’s also handed the troublesome trainee Ryeoun instead of a proper severance. In order to pay the bills and start over in her career, she’s then forced to take on a mentor role to help them both find success.

Drama: To My Hae-ri
Release date: TBD
Need to know: Starring Shin Hye-sun, Lee Jin-wook, and Kang Hoon, the healing romance follows our announcer heroine as she suffers from dissociative identity disorder after her younger sibling’s disappearance and break-up with her long-term boyfriend.

In addition to the list above, Studio Genie also announced that the following dramas (roughly translated) are in the works for 2025:

  • Good Woman Bu Se-mi
  • Riding Life
  • Hang in There Doctor
  • Lord of Money
  • The Underworld Bank
  • Hae-shi’s Shin-ru
  • New Recruit 3
  • Not Others 2

I went from "wow!" to "oh! shit" when reading the 2nd paragraph of Your Honor. I'm definitely watching this one. It has a different feel and the roles are kinda reversed in a subtle manner.

I'm definitely going to watch a lot of all these.

Not Others 2(silently screams and squees for joy).

Woo hoo for Crash and Lee Min-ki.
Drunk Romance - love the leads but the title makes me hesitant and fills me with low key dread if they go the usual trope of excessive alcohol consumption and drunken love confessions.

@mrsbuckwheat I didn't think about that. Hopefully the shenanigans aren't too hammed up. I'd love a brooding brewer and a mostly light-hearted female lead who has a penchant for the intense, given her background. I think it could make for comedy gold, but we'll see.

I am with you on this. The title actually reminds me of my favorite T-drama romcom: DRUNKEN TO LOVE YOU (now shown on Netflix under the truly stupidly shortened title "LOVE YOU"). I agree that the premise for this show is very promising, and I plan on watching it.

@oldawyer I admit that I am not as well-versed in T-dramas, but I'll put this on my to-watch list! Thanks for the recommendation. 😊

Interesting line up. ENA always comes with these underrated gems.
I am very excited to see Lee Jong-won in a modern. Hope he comes with the mane of glory!!

In the Name of Alcohol will make me laugh, hopefully, and To My Hae-Ri will put the kleenex's to good use.

Drunk Romance I'm gonna check out because I love the actress, and I'm actually wondering if an alcohol-centered career for both leads will make them LESS prone to drunken shenanigans.

To My Hae-ri I'm probably going to avoid because I've never seen stories handle DID well (and that's assuming you buy into it as a diagnosis, which is controversial in itself).

Yeah To My Hae-ri would be a tricky one to pull off, but I almost want to tune in just to see Shin Hye-sun play multiple characters in the same drama…

There are a few here I will wait for more information to drop so I can make an informed decision, I have been burned too many times with something that started out sounding promising.

@reply1988 I hear you on that! Is it weird that I feel apprehensive about Lovely Runner, it's almost too good to be true? Side eyes Queen of Tears

Crash of course - just round the corner.
I like these legal dramas - both sound rather promising.
Interested enough to check out both Drunk Romance and Starry Night.
Only thing iffy now is To My Hae-ri, but then it has Shin Hye-sun. 😍

A lot of interesting things coming up! Your Honor immediately stands out. Having those two particular actors go head-to-head just screams "intense".
