I remember reading this A:TLA explanation before that shrouding Firelord Ozai’s face until Season 3 was a storytelling tool which gives him power and mystery. He’s not a person but something that invokes fear. It reminded me of how they’re only showing us parts and flashes of the face of Moon-young’s mom, so that she’s this malevolent being that haunts MY and her father. Eventually showing her face would remove that mystery and humanize her.
Also, damn the show for the fakeout on episode 6. I almost had a heart attack.
P.S. I was today years old when I realized that I can bypass the 200 character limit by right-click + paste 😅
Haha I’m afraid I haven’t gone that deep into ATLA lore and symbolism though, so I can’t make more than passing references. But hey, if there’s something I can reference, I will!
