hi! hello! I recently finished The Liar and His Lover (TLAHL) and loved it so much i decided to write these recap/my opinions and thoughts on each episode as i was watching which explains why im starting from #12 (sorry lol). After learning this k-drama has such a big following on here i decided to post them onto here! feel free to respond to my thoughts, give your own, or j say hi 🙂 also please excuse any errors!! Tyvm and enjoy!!
Two small PSA’s before we start: i am going to be cursing a bit in these recaps, if that’s not your thing please ignore this lol. Anddd the ‘-’ are meant to be bullet points and I refer to the characters by their initials, ex: Kang Han-Gyul is HG. let me know if it would be helpful for me to add a key to their names at the top of every post <3)
-HG's concern for SR and her grandmother made my heart swell, literally 5 mins in, the relief you see in his face when he gets the text from SY saying her grandma got released is so adorable.
-CY and HG's first fight in the ep made me a little mad, i get CY likes SR and is her producer but he keeps butting his head in when he shouldn’t. when we get that same flashback of CP getting mad at HG for becoming ‘K’ and CY taking his place i can see why he argues so much w HG, he still needs to back off SR
-HG’s dad and pres yoo; SO CUTE!!! ugh i love them as a duo, whether they stay friends or moving into more romantic vibes
-SR and HG?? ANOTHER CUTE RELATIONSHIP PLEASEEEE!! The way he stayed on the phone with her just in case she got a nightmare was so thoughtful, and it was clear that SR appreciated it.
-JW wanting to carry SRs guitar was hilarious but also really cute at the same time. It makes me sad that he has no clue she’s dating HG and is still doing all of this for her. It's funny because he is trying to be this gentleman by holding her stuff but by SR not noticing the feelings behind his actions he gets mad lol. Then we see MUSH&Co in the band room along with SY taking a break. SR is trying to open a drink and JW jumps into action (literally) taking the drink from her in order to open it (she could have done it herself but that’s his way of flirting lol). she’s thanked him while SY and GS just laugh at this whole situation lmao. He says helping SR makes him happy (HAHA) and does this weird-ass hair flip and wink combo. SR bursts out laughing while SY looks amused and GS tries to hide his laughter lol.
-another cute SR and HG mini moment <33 YN and HG we’re talking with her name about the showcase and what song she wanted to sing when he looks behind his shoulder to see SR and completely loses his train of thought awwww. SR notices him staring at her and stops to stare right back (<333) YN sees this and looks at SR who gets the hint and moves on. HG follows her as MUSH&Co walks around the room while one of the team members comments “are they MUSH&Co? they’re cute.” HG is still distracted even when SR is out of his range so YN knocks on the table to make him snap back to reality….some jealousy maybe?
-shiny boy is a BANGER, i love how upbeat it is and even though CY made it, it also has ties to HG, which is what i prefer to think abt. every time it comes on i can’t help but hum along haha
-i’m getting some bad vibes from this meeting pres yoo set up between HG and SR. something is off about this but i can’t really tell what it is yet.
– I didn't think I could like CY but after he had his worry moment when CEO Choi said it would be boring for him was really sweet. it’s clear he cares about the band (not including HG yet) so it’s refreshing to see him express it instead of shoving it down like he always does. I just wish that soon everyone in CP including HG could joke around and have a good time like they do in this scene.
-pres yoo is an expert at making people nervous huh? poor HG and SR. she’s trying to shove the idea of them working together on a track down their throats, SR wants to say no since she wants to stick to her word of only working with CY. thank god HG is there with her, he takes over for her and declines the offer. i’ll say this again, WHAT A GOOD BOYFRIEND! one thing pres yoo said that stood out to me was her telling HG “you know we have to make this choice sooner or later.” She's referring to the whole working with friends thing, I hope this doesn’t mean that CP will get ripped apart later and HG will be forced to choose.
-after that little awkward situation, HG and SR head back to SOLE and HG asks her what she wants to do, it’s clear that she wants to stay with MUSH&Co. she asks him what pres yoo meant about the whole choices thing, HG hesitates and says he isn’t sure, it’s probably just about choosing between him and CY. yeah right. SR jokingly says she was torn on her decision and it seems to bother HG a lot lol. SR just smiles and clarifies that if he writes her a song, it’ll be only for her aka MUSH&Co can’t touch it. she asks if he can wait a little longer, HG responds that he’ll wait and they both break out into smiles <33
-CEO Choi is fully becoming the bad guy in my eyes, he is manipulating everyone around him to get want he wants
-CY may be an ass but he’s a really good bass player, the sample recording of MUSH&Co that he’s making sounds really good for being the beginning.
-“SR saved me” SWOONNN wow i love this new HG, he really fits the boyfriend role perfectly. you can’t see his happiness as he talks about her clear as day. i also love that he refused to ride with YN. this clearly ticked her off so i’m wondering if she’s jealous of their relationship or that SR is in a relationship with HG.
-ok, something is definitely going on with SY and SH and i am here for it! it seems like they went to high school together and used to be close.
-SH gets home and plays one of the videos on the hard drive that SY gave to him. He gets up to get a drink when CY comes down and sees the video on his laptop, he plays it and starts to smile. then we flashback to HG playing the bass and composing the song for the group. CYs smile fades and instead looks pained as he pauses the video and walks away. When it comes to the band thing, CY does make my heartache, everything reminds him of HG and the fact that he thinks he is simply a replacement. even if the boys don’t see him as one anymore he can’t shake the idea from his head since their first band meeting was him getting yelled at by the boys
-ok my hate for CEO Choi just peaked, he lied to the band, and when SR tries to talk to HG abt it, he glares at her to shut up. i have a very bad feeling about this.
-wow, i was right. Everything fell apart in a matter of minutes, CY started to yell at CEO Choi who responds with the same energy *cue eye roll*. CY reveals that the group was playing to HG’s bass track instead of his. i think that’s what hurt him the most. It magnified how much of an outsider he felt like in the band compared to HG. Seeing CY in tears makes my heart hurt so incredibly much.
-CY not wanting to go back on purpose so HG could go and play bass with the band has me feeling all types of emotions. my heart broke to find out CY meant for things to end up like this, but his willingness and acceptance that HG is the true bassist of CP also made my heart swell with pride. though i am confused as to what CY meant when he told SR to at least choose him. Did he mean it music-wise or relationship-wise? and the hug he forced SR to stay in made me feel uncomfortable, especially after seeing her face. I am feeling super nervous for HG or ‘K’ since this is kinda like his debut and face reveal all in one, which even though he consented to it, he definitely doesn't look too happy about it.
I feel like we should tag all the fans! But I don’t know who they would be. @sicarius, queen of everything might be able to help get more people here! And I have the memory of a goldfish, so all I can remember is that my poor child, 3rd (not in her galaxy) lead and his Yakult yogurt binge when he realizes he’s not even in the running. Lol.

Once upon a time the mere mention of TLAHL in passing would get you 30 nay 40 upvotes. It was one of the most loved and liked and talked about dramas on the new site.
The Liar Ninjas, as we took to calling these numerous fans, who came out of nowhere to like even the most obscure references to the show, were prolific on the site for many moons. Their power became something of dB lore and infamy. It was a fun time on dB.
And then seemingly overnight, they all vanished.
The power that TLAHL had over dB simply stopped.
The Liar Ninjas have gone into hiding, and their fate unknown. Do they still lurk? Are they still around? Can they be brought back? I like to think so … But who knows.
Why they went into hiding, few can say. But their legend lives on.
I hope @sof1e you have fun with your recaps anyway and that enough fans find their way back to enjoy your posts. ^^
