Honestly, it’s ridiculous that her face was so completely transformed that her daughter and her husband could not recognize her at all. And what about her voice or her mannerisms? Are you telling me her dissembling was so complete that there were absolutely no traces left of her personality while she was working? Granted, we can chalk some of the professor’s lack of awareness to his medical condition, but what explains MY’s complete failure to pick up on any indication of similarity? I doubt she forgot what her mother’s voice sounds like, given that her mom is a frequent of MY’s dreams. I doubt it’s aleatory. Inattention, perhaps? That’s the best explanation I can come up with.
