On Episode 3 of DYLB, we learn that Song-Ah loves Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to play the first movement in high school while pining over a boy who was “just a friend.” It is THE BEST angsty piano piece for an emo teenager to play. I then picked it back up in college, this time learning the entire 3 movements. I only played it for a final, in front of my professors, but all the emotions from high school spilled out on that stage, in the time before YouTube, thankfully. I barely made it through the first movement. I still tear up when I hear it. So I was crying with Song-Ah tonight when Joon hugged her. Would I have had anyone to hug me then. This show has my heart and soul now. And the way Dong-Hyek Lim looks is exactly how I feel when playing this song. It’s painful, but in a good way. And you must listen to his Goldberg variations If you get the chance, and Chopin Preludes, and Rach’s concerto #2. And just anything he plays. Lol.

I played angsty Moonlight Sonata in high school too!!! The melding into happy birthday was just too beautiful. This show makes me unreasonably smiley.

I played it too but pretty much only had angst over my piano teacher, I was lucky 😖 But I bet it was nothing compared to the angst I caused her 😬
