I know it’s probably like the least sketchy thing they’ve done, but it still rankles me that Hong Cha-young and Vincenzo Cassano are representing plaintiffs in a lawsuit where the alleged tortfeasor is a former client of Cha-young’s. Screams conflict of interest.
It does. It’s unethical (as much as setting Babel’s building on fire, or kidnapping police officers) as she has inside intel from the company that she could use against it.
In real life she would have probably signed a confidentiality agreement so she can do what she’s doing now, unless she payed a real high fee or even get criminal charges, BUT this is dramaland and the show is not taking itself too seriously, so let’s enjoy the ride!
Hmmm, in the jurisdiction where I work, she would have to get consent from a former client to work on a case against the former client and the case touches on or is related to work she’s done for the former client. Even with a confidentiality agreement (where I work, confidentiality would between lawyer and former client would exist unto perpetuity, regardless of whether a confidentiality agreement formalized the duty owed to the former client), the jurisdiction I work in is pretty strict about avoiding conflicts of interest. The organization which regulates lawyers in my jurisdiction would be hounding Cha-young for this as well as for her other misdeeds.
