I’ve been discussing with a Korean person on twitter earlier and apparently their feelings have been so hurt by the misrepresentation of the beloved king Taejong that they could not accept any other result but cancellation 🙃

Because even though that king is known for having killed family and friends in order to gain power, netizens draw the line at his imaginary drama version killing some civilians (I did not watch the show, so I’m not sure about how this played out there)
Apparently even his living descendants (reminder that he lived around the years 1300-1400 iirc) have been deeply hurt by this. 🙃

(Hope the sarcasm in my tone can be perceived properly ><)

I always try my best to understand cultural differences and other opinions, point of views…but I have my limits too: this case crosses that limit by a lot ><

My mom is always complaining that the recent sageuks are not historically accurate, but I don’t think even she would complain about a zombie drama being so. Why would you even … I mean, unless there were really zombies in Joseon. Maybe there were, we don’t know!

S.Korea cancels a zombie show. N. Korea fires 2 missiles. Coincidence? Hardly.
in the time I have been away, someone resurrected Joseon zombies….and killed them all off again.
Just how long did I sleep, cheona?

Didn’t watch the show but I heard they are using the names of actual historic figures. Though I think it has less to do with history distortion but more with the infusion of the Chinese culture injection, the anti-China sentiments seem to be on a high these days, people these days discuss the capital for drama productions and comment on how a lot of them have Chinese capital, don’t know if actually effects the ratings or anything but I guess what I am saying is the sentiment against China’s involvement in Korean productions has been building.
