so I had a korean culture club today about kpop! went back into the past, drew parallels between the trends in Korea and in Estonia. Pretty cool I can do this for work.

Can you share the trends from your parallel culture study?

Is it music related, language, or broader? It does sound fascinating, the kind of thing PhD dissertations are made of perhaps~
Anyway, very cool and carry on!

it is kind of the attitude related plus fashion, plus the themes and styling of music videos, maybe it is just this 1990ies thing but… 1980ies had a very “show /stage” vibe both here and in Korea, for us it was perhaps the influence of Eurovision music and for them the trot…1990ies had this badass, street boy, hobo, rap themes, the mood went from carefree and bright to dark and myserious. 1993, choreography was almost the same. 1997 – ballads rising, charms turned on, a la “yknow im not such a bad boy im actually romantic”. later, for example 2009, I dont like that age, it feels like everything was done on drugs or something. just the intensity and the force is offputting.

but yeah, I found 1980ies and early 1990ies very similar in attitude.

I’m fascinated by looking back and analyzing the not to distant past regarding fashion, trends, attitudes as you out it, influences, and the overall vibe and flavor of a decade or era. What’s cool is how you are comparing Estonia and Korea. By the way, I’m crazy about the history of trot and it’s recent resurgence in the past five or so years. It feels new but retains much of its roots. I’m a fan of trot!
