Beanies, you were right. Roy Chiu is an absolute riot. His deadpan, the perfect balance of wacky and cool, all those microexpressions, grimaces and exquisite comedic timing as Hao Me- Justin… I think I’m in love, and it’s only episode 1,5 😍
You know I’m ashamed to admit that I gave up on this drama because I thought it was really bad (I like Office Girls better for this pairing), but now that you’re watching, I might consider watching with you. And please share as many gifs as you want! There’s never enough Roy in our lives.
(Roy, if you’re reading this, please return to dramaland. Enough honeymooning now.)
Haha, I actually like Marry Me or Not better than Office Girls. Only did a rewatch recently. Office Girls is good but too candy-like to my taste whereas MMON is totally the other way.
@ladykrueger, welcome to the club indeed. I’m waiting for the right mood to watch Man in Love but had watched Dear Ex numerous times. Love that movie to bits.
Yesss!! Dear Ex is what sold Roy to me, tbh. I had not paid much attention to his work until then. That movie is gold, and a stellar turn by Roy. It’s a shame he didn’t win international accolades for that performance, only local ones.
Man In Love is decent, but not quite in the same league as Dear Ex. I guess, though, MIL will go down in the history books for the OTP 😉
I think I need to change my viewing lens for MMON. I should probably try it once more 😅
Dear Ex is a masterpiece.. From story, to casting to acting.. it nails it..
Man in Love is ok, but Roy is brilliant as always.
Office girls was my first Roy drama, and I loved Roy and Alice’s chemistry there.. and liked the slow progression of romance with some great character growth… and that confession!!
OMO!!!!! JOIN THE CLUB!!!
We’re Roy Crazies here. Roy brings us joy. (sorry for the cheesy joke pffft).
But more seriously, I think he’s a world class actor who’s done some amazing roles, and I hope he gets the global recognition he deserves. We’ll have a few recommendations for you after you’re done with this, I’m sure!
I can’t figure out Jrr’s handle, or I’d tag her here too.
Roy Chiu! He is the only reason I sat through Miss Rose for as long as I did (even then I couldn’t make it to the end). He’s been great in everything I’ve seen him in.
I have been warned not to watch it 😂 so I’ve steered clear of this. Who knows, though, if Roy’s continued absence makes me desperate and I might pick it up one day.
I would also avoid Easy Fortune Happy Life – he’s the second lead in that and he was lovely (with terrible hair) in the bit that I saw but the hero is extremely rapey and awful.
Yes. Yes. YES!!! It’s a film that deserves so much more publicity and recognition. Roy is utterly brilliant here. He shows every emotion in the book and then some. But to give the rest of the film credit, it’s a great film, not just for Roy’s performance. I sometimes wonder that if it weren’t a Taiwanese film, would it have done better internationally? Or maybe Netflix should have pushed it more.
It’s an all rounded masterpiece as pointed out by @mayhemf, not just because of Roy’s performance.
The three main trio really play their parts to the T. Superbly acted and directed with a script from Mag Hsu who also penned the dramas In Time With You and an earlier classics Mars. Deeply moving and unforgettable, sprinkled with tears and laughters.

ITWY and Mars 🥰😍❤️
Two absolute and utter gems. I’m also a big fan of “The World Between Us” which I think Mag Hsu wrote as well.
While looking at MDL I realized the same team that wrote Marry Me or Not also wrote Sd1D – wow these two shows are poles apart 😂
