Even though it had a nice, solid cast, overall good message, and Wookie finally looked like he cares, I gotta say If You Wish Upon Me left me feeling mostly meh, and glad that it’s over. I tend to be drawn to dramas that revolve around terminal illness, death and such (blame my inner masochist, I guess… or the fact that my second k-drama watch ever was Scent of the Woman), but in Wish everything was so heavy-handed, in your face and full of slow motion and cheesy shots, that it felt very shallow. Also, the whole gangster plot could’ve been cut out for all I care.

This is still not 100% Wookie power, but I’ll take it over Melt– over that one drama any day.

Did you like Scent of a woman? That got on my nerves with her whiny voice, the annoying second female lead, and the noble idiocy but I liked that she decided to live her life the way she wanted once she knew she had limited time.

I have a reaaaaally big soft spot for this one because, as mentioned above, it’s my second k-drama watch ever. It’s also one of the dramas I love rewatching the most. Yes, I hate the second female lead, male lead’s dad, and am not very fond of caricature co-workers. But I love the leads and their chemistry, love all the twists and turns of their relationship, loooove the second male lead, and most importantly I love its message. I always feel warm and fuzzy towards the end, so you could say it’s my comfort drama. And it made me a Lee Dong-wook fan right at the beginning of my k-drama journey, and I can’t be mad at that!
