I have so many questions about this. Does the dad know? Did he have an affair? What happened to her mother? Is her mother the cooking teacher? Did the step mother go to the orphanage specifically to adopt Yi Joo?

    Its possible she knew because grandpa instructed them to adopt her. Maybe its part of some sort of deal between her and grandpa. If her father knew but still treated her horribly, then that will make him more awful than the stepmom.
    I think her mother was not acceptable for grandpa so she didnt end up married to her dad. I have not read the webtoon and trying to resist it. So these are all just speculations.

    It was kinda refreshing (and convenient), how that scene did *not* end at evil mom remarking โ€žAnd donโ€™t you dare saying anything unnecessary to her!โ€œ *cue ominous music and intense stares* – but actually literally spilling everything we needed to know. 😂

    I guess, every other show would have made this an epic cliffhanger. But this show does not have the time for that. Itโ€™s got too many aces up its sleeves, all to be revealed in quick paceโ€ฆ

      I think this is where the show is shining. It puts back the focus on the emotions and connection between the leads. That scene of him staying by her side quietly was so touching and beautiful. He didnโ€™t ask her anything. Just cleaned her up and stayed by her side. My heart 💕💞💓

    If father knew he wouldnโ€™t have let her treat his daughter that way right? Or you would think.
    Or step mom was treating her nicely in front of the dad and emotionally breaking her when he is not around. Because dad did offer to make Yi Joo as the CEO of gallery.
    Or father didnโ€™t know.
    I suspect cooking class teacher might be the mother. With the burn scar itโ€™s possible he thought his wife and child died!!!

      In Oasis, his wife was the more evil of the two. 😓
