2023 Round-up, Day 17 – Oldie (pre-2023) you loved the most.

Stranger (Forest of Secrets), hands down. Other beanies have already said it all. This is just a great, great show. 11/10; the extra point is for Cho Seung-woo’s hair, of course.

Honorable mentions: Be Melodramatic, Beyond Evil, I’m Not a Robot, Nine: Nine Time Travels, Queen Inhyun’s Man, Stove League. This year I learned to be more discriminating about older shows and also got a better feel for what I am likely to enjoy, so my ‘hit’ rate went way up compared to 2022.

Worst Oldie: Gogh, The Starry Night (also called Go Ho’s Starry Night). Another one that didn’t seem that bad most of the time I was watching it, but it left an unpleasant aftertaste. I can’t find much that’s praiseworthy about it in hindsight except Kim Young-kwan’s general hotness, and the ugly parts are what stay in my memory.

Why yes, I could stare at Cho Seung-woo (and his hair) for a long time and be quite happy about it!

And Into the Ring! That should be right up there with the Best of the Rest.

I watched Go Ho’s starry night in 2022 and I didn’t like it much either. I think I never connected with the FL.

Yes, hands down. Hwang Shi-mok and his hair never get old.
Reading your confession, I’ve got to GIF this scene. Their microexpressions, he glancing at her while talking to the guy, she glancing back in discreet, and then he burst out at her, she was taken by surprise but not intimidated. And the thing is the whole show was acted to this level, not just this scene. What a masterpiece!

I’m sure he was doing the reversing this way trying to be “sexy”, because his car must have a reserve camera haha 😁
