Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

Yesterday I finished Hospital Playlist 2. What a nice final episode. Despite my aversion to medical series, I really liked this one. Its endearing characters, the moral values they transmit, the way of seeing life… I definitely connect a lot with this team of directors and writers, since Prison Playbook is also one of my favorite series. Now I have to see all the Reply and Racket Boys.

Two days ago I found out that Hwayugi was going to be removed from Netflix. It wasn’t on my list, but I’ve started it. I’ve already watched four episodes and I’m really enjoying it. I also watched Prison Playbook because it was going to disappear from Netflix and I liked it so much that I gave it a 10 and now it’s my favorite k-drama. Hwayugi is not at that level at the moment, but I’m having a great time watching it.

The key to enjoying Hwayugi is to savour the bantering and ridiculousness, forget about logic, and go in with the lowest expectations 😁

    1

My expectations weren’t exactly low because I had already seen the 9’5 here in Dramabeans 😅

Wow really 9’5?? That sounds weird with all the criticism the show gets on this site.
I enjoyed it and even rewatched it a few times because I know to go into Hong Sisters Dramas only expecting to enjoy the banter and the puns and the jokes.

This is the second Hong Sisters drama I watch. Alchemy of Souls (1&2) has been the first one. I think AOS plot is a mess and I have given up trying to understand a thing XD
But for now I have entered Hwayugi universe (characters/story) and I’m having a good time 🙂

I feel like a lot of the criticism is over the top – I enjoy Hwayugi, I just wish they’d had more time/budget for special effects.

Another tree which is showing its flowers these first February days around here (South-East of Spain) is the Tropical Hydrangea or Dombeya wallichii. Big Pink balls hanging down.
Love, February.

February brings many flowers bloom in this side of the world (Mediterranean coast of Spain). My favorite ones are almond-tree blossoms. I love their colours and scent. Every year I go for a walk and take a lot of photos. These flowers are ephemeral. If it rains, or the wind blows, almost all of them fall off (bye bye almonds). So we have to enjoy them while they are still there.
Love, February.

Omo! They are so pretty! They reminded me of Sakura in Japan (not that I’ve seen one). And I love flowers that have sweet fragrance. You’re so lucky to have these flowers at home. And because the sweet time is limited, it makes it even more precious, don’t you think? 🙂

Yes, I do. They have that ephemeral beauty… 🙂 When I see they start to bloom (end of January, first week of February, depending on the weather), I hurry to take some photos.

Here is one of my favorite tracks from The Package OST to wish you all a Beautiful Day.

Today I have finished Prison Playbook. I have binge-watched it in few days because of the ending date in Netflix.
I have loved it so much! It\’s not perfect, but I give it 10 stars. Very few shows get that mark in my personal rating scale.

    let’s give it an ELEVEN!!!
    ; )

It’s amazing! One complaint—the episodes needed some editing for time!

Some episodes could be a little shorter, I agree. But I never got bored while watching it.

Another k-drama completed: While you were sleeping.
Some iconic and beautiful set pieces and images, good music, but it won\’t be between my favorites. Maybe this kind of procedural plot structure leaves less time to characters development.
My Mark: 7 or 7\’5.

Just finished Psychopath Diary (in four days). I didn\’t think I would enjoy this series so much. It has been great. It is one of those dramas which keeps getting better up to the end.
It\’s a 9 for me.

Three cute and nice mini k-dramas in two days:

Timing (2020): 7\’5/10
The happy loner (2017): 8\’5/10
Vivid romance (2017): 8/10

Pd: Friendly reminder. I love Yoon Si Yoon (Vivid romance) to pieces.

I ❤️ YSY too, must check out Vivid Romance!

It’s an easy watch, nothing too deep or complicated.
But it’s pure fanservice (in a good way) if you love YSY.

Happy New Year, Beanies!

2022 has been my first in Dramaland (if I don\’t count Squid Game and when I watched the first episode of Memoirs of Alhambra in 2018).

Wow, that’s quite a list! And I hope it represents lots of enjoyment as well. Happy dramaversary, and here’s to a better year in 2023!

Thank you!! I have enjoyed A LOT watching k-dramas. I wish I had started sooner. I feel the same excitement I had when I was always watching anime and reading mangas when I was a teenager and a college student.

Pinterest is a good tool to make a list of all the dramas I watch and it’s funny too 🙂

Happy New Year to you too! Now that I’m in Dramaland I’m too lazy to watch Western productions, so I guess I’m gonna stay here for a long time XD

Happy New Year, @isagc! I hope 2022 was an excellent entry year into dramaland for you. Your list is absolutely incredible, what a great selection of shows you chose for your introductory year.

#2022 Roundup. Day 24. Freestyle. Best \”end of the year discovery\”.
I have already said it, but I\’ll say it again: don\’t lose track of Choi Hyun Wook (25-21, Weak Hero Class 1). He is a great actor.

2022 Roundup. Day 22 – Freestyle.
Christmas time in k-dramas.
Not from 2022, but I watched them in 2022: Secret Garden, Misaeng, My first first love (I even saw a nativity scene), Pinocchio, Yumi 2…

2022 Roundup.
Day 21- Most stylish drama.
This is a difficult one. I think that even though I don\’t like some hairdos/make-up decisions, I\’ll pick Alchemy of Souls.

2022 Roundup 20. Best used trope: Business Proposal was full of tropes and at least the first half of the series they were funny.
25-21 subverted some tropes (e.g. the blind date of online friends).

#2022 Roundup. Day 19. My guilty pleasure.

I don\’t think any of the 2022 k-dramas I have watched is a guilty pleasure.
If I think of older dramas I have watched this year, maybe Goho\’s starry night.

#2022 Drama Round-up
Day 18. Non k-drama recommendation.

From Asia: Love Between Fairy and Devil (China). My first C-drama, and it won\’t be the last.

From Western countries: I have never ever (USA).

#2022 Drama Round-up
Day 17. Favourite director.

It has to be You Su Min, the rookie director and screenwriter of Weak Hero Class 1.
I was really impressed.

Day 16: 2022 Crush
I have been watching k-dramas only for a year, but of course I have my one and only crush: Yoon Si Yoon!
I have watched him in seven series so far, apart from 2D & 1N 🙂
