When your KDrama preferences evolve from high school rom-coms to Money Flower real fast. Well, not really *real fast*, but gradually. I thought I’d be staying with high school rom-coms (what with all their cute uniforms and cute oppas making you wish you were attending the same school!) far longer than I actually did but I’m finding myself more gravitated to slice of life dramas these days. Although I won’t call Money Flower slice-of-life (I’m just mentioning it here bec I’ve been hooked to it since ep 1 and I’m still hooked right now. And that’s big for someone like me who likes the light feeling that rom coms in general give compared to the heavy hearts that betrayal and manipulation leave you with, without much room to breathe *gasps*.).

But I guess this is me growing up.;)

How was your KDrama evolution?

I watch mostly romcoms and slice of life with the occasional melo or thriller mixed in. And by occasional I mean I’ve probably seen one or two per year. I am planning on watching Chief Kim and Chicago Typewriter soon since so many beanies were raving about them at the end of the year. They aren’t the type of shows that I would normally watch but all the beanies raving about them made me interested.
I’m also currently watching Solomon’s Perjury which is very good and an old favorite of mine is I Remember You.
I have yet to try a family drama (they’re sooooo long) and I don’t plan on watching any horror dramas.

Not a fan of thrillers, but I’ve managed to watch a few melos every now and then. Is Chief Kim the one with Nam Goong Min? Is it really good?

Chicago Typewriter’s one of my faves, the plot’s not your usual time traveling, although they weren’t actually time traveling but were reincarnated. The OST’s good and Yoo Ah In’s hot, even in loose trousers. The vintage feels and the library’s just daebak. 🙂

Yep. Chief Kim is the one with Nam Goong Min. I haven’t started it yet but it has Junho in it too (he’s really impressed me in JBL) and beanies say it’s one of the best comedies of 2017.
I’m not even sure if what I’m thinking of as thrillers are necessarily thrillers. They’re usually mixed with romance like I Remember You, While You Were Sleeping, and Healer. Those probably aren’t really thrillers now that I think about it 😄
I’ve heard about the library in CT. I’m looking forward to seeing it. Also I love Go Kyung Pyo so that’s another reason I want to watch it 🙂

The longest I’ve watched was Dong Yi which was 80+ eps. But it was worth it! The cinematography was amazeballs, at least for me. HAHA. I loved how colorful every scene was on top of the story. It was eye candy. 🙂

80+ eps?!?!? That’s insane. What was it about? I’m glad you liked it. It would be horrible to invest that much time and then get a horrible ending that ruins the whole thing.

My bad! Haha, twas only 60 eps, I thought twas 80, saegeuks tend to have that many eps. We had no internet at home back then, I had to go to my father’s office every weekdays and painstakingly download all the eps. Haha, I remembered the connection was very crappy then but I survived! Good thing I got hooked during the summer vacation.

It’s loosely based on history, the king falling for a commoner.

progressed well last year, I watched Circle,Secret of Forest,Tunnel, Save Me all of which I would not have even tried watching Ep 1 in prior years.

That’s one 2017 resolution I was able to keep,be more adventurous in my kdrama choices

Those are thrillers, right? Haven’t got around into watching those just yet!. Haha, maybe in the near future.

I find it cute that it’s included in your resolution. Being adventurous in kdramas and in life choices, as well! Fighting!

If you’ve been working for the last ten years then you’re older than me, can I call you eonnie @wakimary? 😀

😊 well work is only from Mon-Fri,usually 8AM-6PM +/- some 3 hrs commute time, mostly due to the horrible traffic situation in Manila. But since Aug 2017, I started working nearer my house, commute time is only an hour at most each way. I’ve worked as a staff for a shipping line, research assistant, property and real estate development staff and currently a civil servant as part of a city planning office.

Plus I don’t really like going out that much.Even when I was younger (gosh I suddenly feel old), I only partied during Fridays, anyway 😂

yes you may 😊 my dongsaeng line is getting longer 😄

I will watch literally anything except heavy melo and makjang. When I first started watching dramas I was a bit picky and only really liked dramas with thriller or fantasy elements, but that has completely changed now. I’m up for anything and everything! Also, now I care a lot more about characters, while before I was all about plot.

I’ve watched makjang before and I guess you can consider Money Flower a makjang, so I’m currently watching one. Hahaha! They’re okay for me as long as they still get a little bit of reality in the mix. You should watch one! 😉

i started with those high school rom-coms until now dream high, reply 1997, boys over flowers, coffee prince. i admit one of my favorite kdrama is cinderella and four knights. at present all series where gong hyo jin starred in and all those cute rom-coms like pretty woman, oh my venus etc. i don’t like drama actually so my list in that genre is the shortest.
