    Four things:
    1. I did smile and giggle at least twice.
    2. He was just plain awesome in this, even it I didn’t understand what he was saying.
    3. His haircut looks great on him! K-Dramaland needs to move away from the bangs, middle parts, and bowl haircuts. Having said that, he can pull of most of the hairstyles I’ve seen on him. Even the wigs.
    4. He really is a good looking guy.

      Glad you liked it!😊
I agree that this boyish/teenager hairstyle trend needs to stop. Show your glorious foreheads to the world! (manlier and sexier). But don’t think we’ll be getting rid of it any time soon…I heard it’s mainly a thing in Korea, to look/appear more youthful. And yes, Hyungsik can almost pull off any hairstyles (“almost” because they were some questionable hairstyles for his debut with ZE:A😂)
All in all, he’s simply gorgeous😍

I only saw him in Hwarang, but that drama was so bad it even tested my love for Park Seo Joon.

Nevertheless, he’s mightily beautiful guy. He’s a definition of flower boy.

I also watched Hwarang and it has more to do with the writing being bad (written by a rookie and it greatly showed) than the actors’ performances. Cast was great (minus Go Ara) and the only saving grace of an otherwise uninspiring and forgettable show (even Choi Minho was decent and believe me, I rarely sing his praises). The boring and chemistry-less romance between the leads made me also doubt of my love for Park Seo Joon. TBH, the only thing that made me stick till the end was Hyungsik (despite the butchering of his character in second half)

It’s only until you realize that dramas like Live, Stranger, Mother and My Ajusshi exist that you realize that many actors can act well, however, if they don’t have the writing and direction to back them up, then it sometimes comes off as they can’t act. Don’t get me wrong though, there are some actors who are really bad who can kill decent writing and direction.

I stuck through Hwarang for both Park Seo-joon and Park Hyung-sik. I don’t think I can stick through a drama just because of an actor any more. Life’s too short for bad dramas.

I agree, writing comes before acting. The bad writing can kill a talented actor while the good writing can elevate even limited actors.

I used to be the same, following my favourite actor no matter what, sticking with their bad dramas till the end, but I can’t do it anymore either. Nowadays if drama is bad (even with my bias), I just drop it.

BTW can you tell me what codes to use to make text appear italic/bold? Thanks!

Same. Now that I’m older, I’m more picky. I also drop/skip dramas starring my favs if the writer or partner is not to my liking (most recent examples➡️ Hwayugi= Hong Sis=no thanks/ WYWS=Lee Jong Suk💖+ Suzy❌= didn’t even start/Will skip Mr Sunshine because I don’t like the male lead+I’ve never finished a Kim Eun Sook’s drama *yeah, even Goblin and I love Gong Yoo!* Second lead, YYS would have made for a better lead imo and don’t get me started on Byun Yo Han being the 3rd lead *sigh*)

You’re both right , there’s no time to waste on bad dramas or at least the ones which are not to our taste.

@hades BTW, are ‘My Ajusshi’ and ‘Live’ good? I watched ‘Mother’ and I utterly loved it (stellar acting and it was such a heart-wrenching and beautiful story)

Surprisingly I don’t mind Suzy that much, she didn’t stop me from watching LSJ pretty face haha 😆 Overall WYWS was mediocre drama though the first episode was really good.

I wanted to watch Great Seducer for Woo Do Hwan but I’m probably too old for teenage romance, I just couldn’t get past that. Too bad, I’ll have to wait to see him in a more mature role.

Now I’m pumped up for Suits, Pretty Noona and Are You Human too.

And My Ahjussi is really good if you like realistic dramas. It’s heavy and bleak but so good I can’t stop watching. I started because of Lee Sun Kyun but surprisingly it’s IU eho steals the show, she’s fantastic in this. Her heroine is unlike anybody I’ve seen in my 11 years of watching dramas.

I like Live. Possible spoilers ahead. If you don’t like spoilers, you should dive right into the first episode and see if you like it or not. It can seem a bit heavy and slow–it is long–but I think it most definitely is worth it.

The first thing that hooked me in was the amazing use of ambient sound. Combine the sound with the realistically styled cinematography and they had me in the first 3 mins. I felt completely immersed in the world. As the episode progressed, we got to see just how much Hell Joseon has beat down on our two main leads to push them into joining the police force. I honestly find this the most convincing illustration for just how bad Hell Joseon can be and I got it in just two episodes. Eat your heart out Radiant Office and Strongest Deliveryman! Although admittedly those two dramas were looking at somewhat different aspects of Hell Joseon.

The we have My Ajusshi. I love this drama more than I love Live mainly because we have characters who are driving a story in which each other’s actions (can/have) significantly impact(ed) the others. The tone is dark but not too dark. Most of the characters are flawed or amoral–that’s judging from my standards. Their storylines have you interested in how everything is going to play out. All of the actors are doing an amazing job with their characters and they are making full use of the writing and direction. The same can be said for Live. The both really are examples of how good actors can be if given the right tools. In that way it reminds me of Stranger.

Lastly, I have only watched the first two episodes of Mother but I loved how unfiltered it was in its depiction of abuse. It’s that unfiltered presentation of the material that I like about Live and My Ajusshi.

@cherryinbloom I’m currently watching ‘The Great Seducer’ and I must say I’m more enamored with Woo Do Hwan’s handsome face and intense acting than the drama in itself (forgive my shallowness😁)…therefore, if you don’t feel like watching it, don’t force yourself, I don’t think you’ll miss out much (just my opinion…still I will keep watching it to see where it goes *for curiosity purpose*)

As for Suzy, I just can’t. And I tried! ‘Big’, ‘Gu Family Book’ and ‘Uncontrollably Fond’. She’s just terrible imo. I sadly had to skip another Lee Jong Suk drama (it already happened in the past with Doctor Stranger *coughJinSeYeoncough*). I’m so relieved that for his next work he will be paired with someone like Shin Hye Sun. She’s good and more on par with him acting-wise.

On the other hand, I like IU, she’s a decent actress and saw her for the first time in ‘You’re the best Lee Soon Shin!’. She was still quite green at that time but I could already see some potential.

@hades @cherryinbloom Thanks for the recommendation! I think I’ll follow your advice and start ‘My Ajusshi’ (the only thing that bothers me is the length of the episodes..90min?!? Tell me, they will shorten it! I managed to watch and finished ‘Prison Playbook’ and loved it but still it was hard for me to stay focused this long…

Episode 2 of My Ajusshi is 01:12:25. I can’t say if this speaks for the episodes to come but I remember @mindy saying that the subsequent episodes after the first will be shorter.

@hades That’s what AsianWiki says, but I don’t know where they got that info, lol.
