So I don’t have instagram. My mom does. I was using her account to see pics of

then my mom wanted her phone back. She asked-‘who’s this?’

me- Just one of my favourite actors.

Mom- “actor? he’s a guy? but he’s so pretty.”
      And I can’t say she’s exactly wrong. I mean

I used to doubt myself initially

Suddenly I felt hopeful. I asked- ” do you like him?
mom- Well he’s beautiful( she still can’t believe he’s a he)
        I was so happy

I thought- Finally! maybe I can watch something with her! MDBC has been on my watchlist for ages!

I asked, cautiously hopeful- ” do you want to watch his serial with me?”

Mom- This reminds me of your cousin. She and her mom like that indian tv actor no? TV raises your hopes unexpectedly. I mean, do you really think she’ll get a guy like him?
me- That’s not what i was talking abo-

Mom- you shouldn’t have such unrealistic expectations.
Me- I just wanted to watch his serial with you!

TBH, that thought never crossed my mind. I’ve always loved him as actor. Also, because subconsciously,I know I’ll never get a guy like him. But having heard that aloud

Now I just wish I had a brother like SIG to do this

But even that is unrealistic isn’t it?
            real life sucks
            THE END

I can’t believe your mom thinks he looks like a girl 😂 He has a very masculine face and strong chin/jawline 😍

Yeah but he’s very pretty still! Even I get confused sometimes. Also, she’s never seen korean actors before. They’re mostly clean shaven with perfect skin and facial features, compared to indian or western actors, who are somewhat rugged, but handsome nonetheless!
I understand her. When I first saw korean actors, my first thought was- They’re so pretty. How are they hot and manly? in the sense that, they’re well groomed and maintained compared to the actors and even actresses i had known until then.

Haha I was thinking the same thing! He’s gorgeous but I don’t think he looks like a girl at all!

I will admit that there are some actors who I just find too pretty and perfect looking, to the point where it’s almost cookie-cutter and bland and I get bored looking at them even though they’re very pretty.

Park Bo-gum is not one of them, though. His face is perfect but still has something interesting and masculine about it.

@mindy I agree. He’s gorgeous but not feminine. Now if it was Jeonghan (from Seventeen) that @supperwhopotterlock’s mom said looked like a girl, I could totally understand. I thought he was a girl the first time I saw him 😆 I mean look at him

@superwhopotterlock Yes! Here’s a MV with him in it. He’s the one with the long hair: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JyQD-B_SqUU
He looks more like a boy now that he has short hair

@raonah I actually think that Jeonghan looked more masculine than Ren when both had long hair.

@daydee Really?? I need to look up Ren. What group is he from?

@raonah Ren’s from Nu’est. I think the attention Ren garnered for his androgynous look made Pledis debut Jeonghan like a Ren 2.0.

@daydee wow, Ren is super pretty.

Awwww! We have fun with our delusions, but I think all of us (most of us?) are mentally healthy enough to separate fiction and the world of TV from reality. It sucks, but we all know that we must face the music that is reality. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of escapism, though!

Also, fact: moms love Park Bo-gum.

Yeah you’re right. But I’ve never entertained that thought ever! That’s why I guess, it hurts more. *sigh*
I’m still hopeful though, that I’ll make her watch a korean series someday. Maybe I’ll show her IRY- that’ll remove any doubt from her mind about him not being a guy. But then, I fell in love with the puppy there. Is something wrong with me?

You should definitely watch it with her! It was IRY where my mom said he was cute and that got me really excited because it was the first time she had ever called a K-drama actor cute before. 😊

And totally not weird. Min was a puppy. A psychopathic, murderous puppy whose actions should not be excused, but still a puppy. One of the only fictional killers I will let myself feel bad for. That drama was all about what makes a monster, after all.
