I’ve made some amendments to the DB HTML formatting and media posting mini guide. Find as follows Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. The biggest change from the previous guide is that you do not need to use quotation marks in the HTML tags.

As mentioned in the guide, you can use this web app to test your posts. While the app has a significant number of HTML tags, most of them do not work on DB. If you have any questions or if I’ve made any errors/mistakes, please let me know.

    Maybe that’s why my hyperlink wasn’t working… -_-

You’re talking about the quotation marks? It should work with or without it. It just makes life much easier without. Plus, if you copy + paste, the quotation marks can get messed up in the process and cause the tag to not work. That’s the biggest issue I used to have so I had to put in an extra step to make sure it worked.

If you must (and are) spreading this, can you please add reminders to make sure that they close their html properly because we only have one very overworked IT Bean and each html mistake will need manual correction, taking away from possible bug-fixing/site-improvement time? T___T Also, a note that overuse of html sometimes trips the spam filter–which might explain why some people find their post/comments vanishing/rejected by the site. Not to mention said IT Bean will then have to sift through thousands of spam comments to fish out the legit one. 🙁 In short, please HTML responsibly! Thankeu~

Wait, my ignorant, not good with tech didn’t quite understand. Is there another method of uploading songs without causing trouble for @mary and actually uploads the links?..

If you’re adding a video link, then the Add Video button is the place to put it.

If you just want to link to a song, just paste the URL in your status update.

Unless you’re actually trying to upload a music file (like mp3) directly to your fanwall, which isn’t a supported feature. And even if someone somehow finds a way to hack that feature, please don’t do it because it might give us trouble with copyright folks and lead to DMCA takedown notices. O__O

        Oh definitely wouldn’t want that!
But the thing is, lately when I want to upload a video link using the Add Video Button, it just says that it couldn’t be processed. And I have no idea why it keeps doing that. It will either say that or it’ll act like it uploaded but never appear on my fan wall.
I’m surprised it even allowed me with my last two posts because it just keeps fighting with me.

Oh fantastic! I have been looking for something like this for ages. This should be up as a sticky note somewhere more easily accessibly on DB!! Thank you.
