Han Groo launched a singing career in 2011 with her debut extended play Groo One, which earned her a Best New Artist nomination at the 13th Mnet Asian Music Awards. That same year, she made her acting debut with a leading role in the three-episode CGV drama Girl K. This was followed by an appearance in MBC’s Just Like Today, which won her Best New Actress at the 2011 Korea Culture and Entertainment Awards. In 2014, she took home the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards for her performance in Warm Words. She was also nominated for Best New Actress at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards for her work in the series. She then starred in the 2014 tvN romantic comedy Marriage, Not Dating, opposite Yeon Woo-jin.


Han Groo’s family moved and lived for four years each in the United States and China before returning to South Korea. In November 2015, she married her non-celebrity boyfriend in a private ceremony. She and her husband welcomed their twins in March 2017. In September 2022, it was revealed that the couple divorced and that Han Groo took full custody of their children.
