Sung Hoon made his acting debut in the 2011 SBS series New Gisaeng Story, which won him the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. In 2015, he acted alongside So Ji-sub and Shin Mina in KBS2’s Oh My Venus, where he played a professional MMA fighter. In 2016, he joined the main cast of the KBS2 family drama Five Kids, which earned him the Best New Actor trophy at the KBS Drama Awards. In 2017, he was paired with Song Ji-eun in the OCN romantic comedy My Secret Romance. That same year, he became a cast member of the popular MBC variety show I Live Alone, which scored him numerous recognitions including a Top Excellence Award at the 2020 MBC Entertainment Awards. In 2021, he starred in TV Chosun’s hit melodrama Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce).


Before entering the entertainment world, Sung Hoon was a competitive swimmer and was part of South Korea’s national team. However, a spinal injury forced him to retire from the sport. The same injury also cut his mandatory military service short. He legally changed his given name to Bang Sung-hoon.
