Baek Kyung’s dad is such a wacko! Feel bad for him but that doesn’t justify his behavior. Start being a bit nicer, please. I hate seeing Dan-Oh get hurt by you already. #ExtraOrdinaryYou
But can we really blame him for that?
I mean I hate it when he’s being mean to Dan-oh but then I remember he’s written that way, it’s not something he has any control on, or say in, and because he isn’t self-aware yet, he acts the same in the shadows, that’s what his character is, he is accostumed to that. But I think he is changing, very slowly, but he is, he feels bad.. and asks about her, he’s worried and shows it! One of the reasons he’s so mean to her is because he is forced and feels stuck
in the whole engagement situation, because of his dad, and he takes that dad-resentment out on Dan-oh!
I am dreading him becoming self-aware. What would it be to realise what a nasty character he is written as. Imagine spouting such dialogues if you are fully aware. My heart aches for him..
Doesn’t help that Kyung has LJW’s face. Don’t hurt our puppy…
Edit* too many typos in the original post for my ocd to tolerate*
I found it intriguing that once we learned they are manhwa characters we start sympathizing on them as ‘being written’ like that and defending on their behalf.
Isn’t all the character in any drama, manhwa written? Self-aware or not, they are still characters in the show be it the manhwa within a drama or the drama itself.
Kyung’s behavior toward Dan-Oh is basically/constantly rude and aggressive. Sure there must be causes for that. But as far as I can see, these characters have been somewhat showing a degree of their self-made personality in the Shadows. Which I see no difference in Kyung’s though. He shows a glimpse that he cares for her but acts opposite. So, I took Dan-Oh’s side and kinda don’t really like him as of now. He’s a hotty, dreamy and everything but he’d better be waking up soon.
I have to disagree with you here, drama and manhwa are two different worlds! In the dramas the characters are supposed to be real, not written, we’re not supposed to see them like that, in fact we’re supposed to see them like us, a mirror of us, their actions and behaviors are of their own choice, they get to decide what to do and they are not controlled by anyone, they have a mind of their own and move the way they want so therefore we can hold them responsible for their actions.
As for Extraordinary you, we are told from the beginning the characters have a set-up of their own, they can’t really control their actions or their words for that matter if they are not aware, they’re written and have to move in a certain manner, and even when they’re aware once they’re on stage they can’t do anything but move the way the writer want them to , they’re puppets basically when it comes to the stage!
The thing is, the writer has written Baek Kyung as a jerk, he is, and I hate him for that and he acts the same in the shadows because he is not aware of the fact that he could have a mind of his own and break free from his on-stage persona, I can’t hold him accountable for what he does, yet, but once he does become aware it’s then we can really judge his character, whether he’s gonna feel any remorse and guilt for everything he’s done to Dan-oh or go on acting the same, then it’s going to be interesting!
Same. He’s the same off stage in shadows, so even with his typical setup I don’t like him. He’s nothing more than his setup, & half of it doesn’t even make sense.
Why is he mean to the girl who can literally lead to events that make or break him?
I understand he takes out his anger of being an unwilling & reluctant puppet of his dad’s schemes on her, but why be outright awful instead of coldly civil when he believes she has the power to mess up his life?
Yeah as if ending her with torment would end his torment sooner.
I can come up with all possible explanations that explain why he acts the way he does, but I still don’t like him. He’s the last person I’d want EDH to be with.
The manhwa inside the manhwa suggests that all main characters have a secret… EDH doesn’t have one because she’s the least important supporting role, an extra in her words.

Agree. Kyung is just a dick. It is amazing how the creator of this comic is writing these characters.

Yes, that is going to be too much to take! But at least then they will all know he doesn’t mean it and he is just as hopeless as they are!

No worries, I love reading other people’s thoughts even if they are long or opposite with mine. That’s an eye opening.

It’s almost like he is being cruel to her to lead to her dying of a broken heart.

Then is this manhwa really a rom-com? LOL
And its title ‘Secret’ is not so romantic or comedic either.
