Beanie level: Rooftop room dweller

Mr Queen. As long as The King continues to confide in Hwa Jin, the more I will say he is a straight up moron. There is a reason all of his plans fall though and he don’t seem to see it. Moron he is.

    not really

i think he believes Jo HJ is the woman who saved him in his childhood and hence he “loves” her .. plus she is on his side given kim clan is the one that really yields power right now

Uncanny Counter. On 1 hand, I am glad Mun is written like a typical teen, but on the other,I am sick of him not getting it and burning people bc of it.

I felt like that bit of story just got dropped on us and immediately discarded.

I came across the miniseries Ga Du Ri’s Restaurant and that show is so cute and sweet I am pretty sure I have a cavity now.

The Uncanny Counter. I am really liking how the show writes Mun’s best friends and here is hoping the dynamic changes and they can lean on him more and not in the save you life way.

Wish You.

Who really made the 1st move, In Soo or Sang Yi? Huh?

It is that time of year for me to watch Twelve Nights.

It is not a holiday series but I thoroughly enjoy it and feel it did not get its due on its initial run.

Jdramas had a strong year with BL mangas. Love, Life on the Line and it looks like Cherry Magic is gonna end strong.

I really hope they do Our Dining Table. That one is just so warm and inviting.

I have finished The Good Detective. I have a ton of different feelings while watching the show because they like the show itself was everywhere. I laughed, cried, was in shock.
And I still stand by Seo kyeong being the absolute worst at her job. She did not get it, to the very end.

I loved this show, and I agree with you that she was one of the weakest parts, but even so, I can understand her.
In case you haven’t read: this was my post when I finished.

I just finished it yesterday and I actually skipped ep 14 & 15 and just watched ep 16.
I hated how they brushed off what Seo Kyeong did (or didnt do) and honestly couldn’t care less about the mystery and who killed who.
Having said that I wouldnt mind a second season because what I loved about the show was the relationship between our heroes.

    2
    1

Here is where I think my problem lies with Seo Kyeong. There was never any opportunity to really see if she was smart or talented. Everything on paper read like she was given these opportunities to either infantize her or want to pursue a romantic relationship with her. It was all about her looks and nothing else. I can’t even say she had a personality. She likes to drink and…………that’s it. She had absolutely no chill, game or a real personality to have gotten the opportunities that she did and her looks helped get her that far and not much else.

So I started watching The Good Detective and good lord, Seo Kyeong is awful at her job as a reporter. The fact that she continues to get burned never smartened her up to the fact. Like, at all. Jeez.

Don’t give up. There’s a reason for everything.

I am at episode 11. She is just not good at her job. She acts like a over eager intern who is on their 1st job and not a older, seasoned reporter. And she is just not smart and has absolutely no chill.

Notice how she had no sources of her own, has not built up any or any kind of relationships with politicians, their staff, police, etc and the ones she does have pull her around by the nose?

The Goddess of Revenge. Ga On has some really stupid adults around him. I was going to say Do Yoon should just take care of him and then he turned around and became stupid as well.

I was just waiting for beanies opinion on this one… and yours is not… good?

It is a interesting concept but the characters are lackluster and extremely uninteresting.

It is trying to be more than what it is.

I’m debating whether to watch ep 3. Uh oh. 😮

Cheat on Me. If you can, ep 1. Yeo Joo doesn’t have to be a saccharine person but her level of unprofessionalism with her publisher and public makes her unlikable.

2

Oh God, she isn’t G. R. R. Martin so I am unsure why they put up with her. Also, why is she not getting a good husband and stuck with shitty ones in back ro back dramas.

I just finished watching the first episode and am wondering what is up with her and that attitude and behavior!

So there is another Korean BL web series is coming.

You know, considering the success, which network is just gonna go ahead and give on a series run.

Jin should have just enlisted. This BTS Law will not end well. They took the age down to 28 for a reason.

6
7

This just reads as Jin being lazy, imo, and yes I agree, he should have just enlisted

    2
    1

BTS will still be a juggernaut in 20 months, even sooner if they shave off months because of COVID.

What are they going to do when all the other members have to enlist. They might as well have exempted all of them because of the revenue they bring to the country.

It sucks as a reason, but it is what it is.

      1
      1

patriotic law should not be judged based on who makes money

aka.. these kind of rules should not have exceptions, at all

        2
        1

Yet, there is a law named after them which raises the age because…..*checks notes* they are the biggest act on the planet and brings in billions of dollars to the country.

          0
          2

I am aware and i don’t think that law should have happened.. and neither do i agree with the logic that just because someone is making money, they should get these discounts

If something is meant for the country then that rule should be applied to all citizens without any exceptions

            2
            0

Which is why I said it would not end well. Either exempt or stop mandatory enlistment.

            1

Oh this is a toss up in the air, and public is flaky, this may come back to bite them later.

The Uncanny Counter. Mun has serious anger issues and I hope they get to the root of what he is dealing with with his grandparents. He is going to take that out on someone and it won’t be pretty.

Netflix just dropped another crop of asian programs. Judging from the way Viki has been changing their programming, they have every right to be worried.

6
11

Wait, really? And what about Viki?

    0
    1

They are putting any and everything under the Plus category and charging the Plus price. So basically, episodes that are more than a year old are now restricted or just been cut or gone. Comments have been made about this as well. It is being noticed. On top of not have a paid translation staff. Yeah, its all there.

      3
      3

This is disconcerting though because Netflix doesn’t offer the variety in subtitles that Viki does. Sometimes I wish this kdrama/hallyu wave hadn’t snowballed like it did so we could go back to the days where we didn’t have a buffet of platforms to pick from to watch kdramas. I have the Viki Plus subscription though so I haven’t noticed the changes.

        2
        1

It’s not just k-dramas now, tbh. A few years ago, you could watch most things on Netflix (at least in my corner of the world). Now, if you want to access everything legitimately, you need to get memberships with multiple platforms (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.). It’s super annoying. I definitely notice it the most with k-dramas, though, although that’s mostly because I watch them more than anything else now.

          1
          2

Yeah, it’s a tough call. I for one can’t afford multiple subscriptions. Ten dollars here, fourteen dollars there, etc. add up very easily.

            2
            0

I have been thinking about this for a long time. HBO and NBC now have their own streaming service and honestly I think it’s just really bad for the market and the players in general because ultimately you’re just fracturing the market share. I’m guessing that one of the streaming services are going to fold in the next few years although which one it will be remains to be seen

            3
            0

Wait, Netflix has a Plus category? Or are these comments only confined to Viki?

        1
        1

To be fair, most of it isn’t Viki’s fault. Kocowa and Netflix really changed the game. Kocowa is not renewing licenses that are expiring to build their library and subscribers and Netflix is snatching up all the cable dramas. I’m sure it’s not easy to compete with Netflix even for Rakuten. It doesn’t help that Rakuten has their hands in every business under the sun and streaming doesn’t seem to be important to them.

It really is a shame, as we all know Viki subs are the gold standard.
