What’s up with ML everywhere smoking and playing with lighters? I get it, the Kdrama prop departments are obsessed with lighters but no smoking please 😑.
Netflix produced shows can show actual smoking scenes but broadcast can’t. Have they actually showed anyone smoking? Usually it’s just pull out a cigarette or lighter and then get interrupted.
You’re right, they weren’t actually smoking, but ep 5 of YOM showed ML holding a burning cigarette and DAYS, Vincenzo, and MRIG all showed ML sucking/almost sucking a cigarette. I think those scenes were suggestive enough to potentially mislead the audience into associating smoking with hot men. TBH I’m disappointed ~~~
I read somewhere that smoking scenes can be shown but they should’nt light a cigarette on screen. Afterwards I noticed in a lot of dramas they either cut away the lighting scene or they face backwards to light or just click several times but don’t light esp when the character is frustated. I honestly think that it is a pretty dumb rule.
Me too, and it’s frustrating. It’s like they ran out of ideas to show how attractive men should behave and someone suddenly thought smoking men look cool, let’s bring it back ><

I thought I was the only one feeling like this ><
Everyone calls them hot, maybe that's why they keep showing them smoking 😩

Yeah I was taken aback a little bit, I thought in SK they’re not supposed to show smoking scene on broadcast programs 😳

Interesting point. In MOVE TO HEAVEN (on Netflix US) Lee Je-hoon (as Samchon) puffs away like he knows what he is doing.

Maybe. But still, I’m not a fan of advertising/glorifying smoking in any form 🙁

There’s definitely more *almost* smoking – I am not a fan.
