Plans announced for a Full House Season 2
First of all: DON’T GET TOO EXCITED. (YET.)
Yes, it does sound like a Full House 2 is in the works. But as with all things this early in the process, it’s best to retain a little bit of skepticism so as not to be disappointed later.
Just a word of warning.
Production as an Asian drama: Producers say, “We will cast at least one out of either Song Hye-gyo or Rain”
The KBS drama Full House, which aired in 2004 and earned much love not only in Korea but throughout Asia, will be producing a season 2 as a pan-Asian drama with participation from Korea, China, Japan and other countries. Full House is the drama that shot Rain to fame throughout Asia as a skilled dancer and singer.
Director Park Chang-shik of Kim Jong-hak Productions told Herald Biz on the 24th, “In preparation for making Full House Season 2, writer Jo Jung-hwa has worked for two years. Currently, the scripts for the first four episodes have been completed. Since Korean, Chinese, and Japanese actors will be participating, the drama will be filmed in those countries.”
One reason I am trying to take this with a HUGE grain of salt is that getting Song Hye-gyo or Rain is going to be a huge endeavor at this point. First of all, I’m not sure either wants to revisit his/her old role from four years ago, especially when both are trying to stretch themselves creatively now. Second, I wonder why they didn’t think to get Full House’s original PD back on board, since he’s currently working with Song on The World They Live In.
Oh, and also, what if they get one of the actors — will they play themselves? Or play new characters? And will the story have to be changed if neither actor agrees to appear in Season 2? (Confuzzlement abounds.)
Because this will be produced as an “Asian drama,” plans are to keep the atmosphere lighter than the first series, and to not come off overly extravagant. The drama will span 20 episodes and is looking for an airdate sometime around August of next year.
Director Park said, “Things are looking good. Already a Thai corporation has shown interest in investing in Season 2, and one broadcast station in Hunan, China, has said that they would produce Season 2.”
Full House was originally a soonjung manhwa [shojo manga] by Won Soo-yeon that depicted a love story about young modern people, and earned its actors Rain (playing Young-jae) and Song Hye-gyo (as Ji-eun) recognition as a very appealing couple.
Recently, Rain was asked on an episode of MBC’s Goldfish [무릎팍도사], “When did you start thinking of expanding into the Asian market?” by MC Kang Ho-dong. His answer reflected Full House’s high Asian popularity, saying, “It wasn’t because of music, but happened to be because of a drama I’d done [Full House],” which showed the bright possibility of a pan-Asian Season 2.
Accordingly, if Full House Season 2 is made and broadcast, the actors will naturally attract much recognition in Asia, and will also have tremendous value as a Hallyu drama.
Therefore, the production company is determined to cast at least one out of the two stars, Rain and Song Hye-gyo, who enjoy high popularity throughout China as well as Southeast Asia. They plan to cast actors from China and Taiwan as well, but have set aside the initial intention of casting one of the F4 members. The director has not yet been decided, and the production is currently in the process of finding a film or drama PD who will be able to bring to life Full House’s visual appeal.

I would LOOOOOVE to see Rain and SHG back together on screen because i think their comedic chemistry is pretty much the reason why Full House was such a success, but my guess is that the odds of that happening are pretty slim to none LOL

a reunion, really? until they get anyone’s name on a contract, this is all talk to attract investor$. they did a similar thing talking up Jang Dong-gun’s involvement in that Qin Shi-huang thriller, ugh.
I agree; I don’t think SYK will do it because she doesn’t seem to want a “rom-com” actress image. Most of her most recent projects are on the “serious acting” side.
I know I’m the dissenting commentator, but do we really need Full House 2???
I think it was cute the first time around, but I’m not sure it’s going to be as novel as it was then. I’m still trying to wrap my mind on what possibly could they do to continue the story (worthy story I should say).
In any case, it appears that this is not liking going to happen so we’ll see.

I really can’t see either song hye gyo or rain willing to revisit these roles..theyve both come so far ahead from full house. They also both want to be taken as serious actors now rather than the comedic acting a story like Full House requires.
Also-I can’t see the whole “other Asian countries” participating thing working out. It sounds like a project that’d take a huge amount of time, effort, skilled talents to actually make it work..

I agree with baffomet. I think a Season 2 would mess things up. Rain and SHG have already told “their story.” So what are they going to do now?
The whole point of Full House was for them to fall in love. Now that they’re in love, what’s next? Don’t tell me they’re going to find ways to break them up again just so they can get back together in the end.
The best would be to build a theme around the “living together” in a “Full House”
You could have actors and actresses from China, Korea, Japan (or any other Asian country) and they somehow are forced to live together and have couples develop that way
Yeah, I am definitely taking this with a fatass grain of salt. Nothing sounds concrete and I just can’t imagine either of the main cast wanting to rehash this (maybe Rain if he feels his ego has been beaten down too much with his less than ideal Hollywood pursuit).
It won’t be the same is any one of them is paired up with a different person… They should just cast a totally new cast or use some of the same supporting characters like the 2 naughty friends, hahah….
bleh i hate it when they toy with my emotions. And even then this doesn’t sound all too promising. How can they possibly have just one of the actors? And I dunno I don’t think I’d be on board if it wasn’t the exact same crew. If they’re gonna do it, they should do it right.

Well, despite your warning, (which I sighted belatedly), seeing the headline “Plans announced for a Full House Season 2″ practically stopped my heart. I was completely one of those many, many fans that were begging for a Season 2 by the time I had finished watching Full House (and spent hours on the internet searching for confirmation).
But, after reading your post, I’ve calmed down and become infinitely less excited.
- Only one out of Song Hye-Gyo or Rain? (And it’ll be a miracle if one of them even agrees to the series.)
- It’s going to be Pan-Asian?? C’mon, Korean producer people, don’t you think that’s trying a little too hard?
- It sounds like they’re completely changing the story too; nothing like the sweet continuation of the first season that we, the fans, all wanted.
- And most important? I don’t even want to watch it.
I feel like this is just too little, too late. Whatever the sequel ends up being, “sweet continuation” or no, it’s really, really late to start introducing a sequel now and have it air five years after the original. Also, had this been the sequel that we all dreamed of four years ago, I think it would have generated slightly more interest (but not much, because I really think the timing of the sequel is really working against it) but now, we find out that it’s going to be a Pan-Asian production, completely disjointed from the first season, and include (most likely) none of the original actors, which lent the show half its spark? I don’t think so.
Too bad, I almost had a heart attack too when I first read the title of the post and images of the perfect sequel that I always wanted flashed through my head.
WOW…it’s about time, is all i have to say….this is the best news i’ve had all day…but how can do a 2nd season with EITHER Hye Gyo or Rain??? That’s NEVER going to work!!! They need them both!

also joining. By the way, Philippines is also in Asia and in the Philippines they are many Filipinos who love Full house. They are many Korean fanatic. They should also let Philippines join. Hehehe. Nothing. Just an opinion. hehe. But it’ll be nice to have season 2.
I totally agree with Jane. It’s just too little too late and they really should have milked this cow 4 years ago at the crest of the Korean wave and the peak of SHK and Rain’s popularity.
But having said that, I would definitely still watch this if it came to fruition and especially if SHK does indeed make her return to the house.

I hope season 2 isn’t going to pick up where the first one left off…cuz they’re only bringing either SHK or Rain back for season 2. Or maybe it will be a story about Rain or SHK’s cousin or friend? I get the feeling it might be like Goong 2- where it’s a different story, but with similar elements.
I’ve always thought full house was overrated. There are much better dramas out there. I’m not really excited to see this.
This could get interesting or messy, if they bring other actors/actresses from other asian countries.. but guess we’ll have to wait and see..

The original full house was so hugely successful that any sequel will find it hard to replicate or match its success.

Totally agree – especially Rain who has so much on his plate with his international aspirations.
i will watch pretty much anything that involves SHG, but i really hope she doesn’t do this.

it’s a hoax come on it’s a last year Gossip even yoon eun hye rumoured replaced SHG come on there are a bunch better drama than this
don’t they learn from the Goong s which is not as successful as the first one because they cast different people and brings out different story instead of a continuance from the first one??

I enjoyed Full House back when it was airing… but the excitement has long-since faded. Maybe if Rain and SHG were both confirmed to be returning, I’d be more excited, but the fact that they’re only aiming for one of the stars rather than both makes me indifferent to the whole thing. Seriously, it’s not Full House without the original characters… it’s just a poor imitation or some wanna be knock-off. It would be better if they just completely remade it into a different drama altogether, or at best, a spin off with some of the side characters from the original. I doubt Rain or SHG will be willing to return anyway…
Why am I not fully happy about this? I mean the reason I liked full house was bc of SHG and Rain but now it seems like either chance of them together againis slim, if existing at all.
I think they should just cast different people. That way I won’t have to be like “AHHh SHG looks better with Rain!” or vice versa. Whatever as long as the story is not THE SAME and the acting is good I will give it a “Go Ahead”. If not…don’t waste money.
hasn’t this been discussed for so long? but i think if you have a season 2 you either have both original leads or just get a new cast. seriously it would be hard to see SHG or Rain starring in it with someone else. also if you change 1 lead you might as well get a new couple.
but KBS just seems desperate, they have had a tough year with so many drama with low ratings.

doesnt benefit fans if they continue with pairings & rumous after each drama of co-stars which most popular stars hate to be linked, rather avoid any fabrication then accept roles with same cast/
i think they shouldn’t even do part 2 if they cant have both Rain and Song Hye-gyo…. what is the point of doing another one. the story is going to be tooo different. i mean i love the first one! it was really funny and good story line and the characters together were awesome! but i honestly think if they are doing one original character and then all of a sudden a new person comes in, then it just is going to be a whole new story and not be Full House. I guess it would be great to have part 2, but there love for each other was already known in the first drama it wouldn’t make any sense to do another one. i think they are just bc its popularity….

Full House season two sounds good to me as long as it is a success sequel to the “hallyu” drama. But that sounds highly unlikely since, more often than not, the movies with a number two added to it is a failure. Por ejemplo GOONG2, GOKUSEN2. . .you get the picture. .
But dramas like hana yori dango had a successful number two so I don’t know what to say but just sit back and wait. . .

This is very worrying.
My personal opinion is that since Eight Peaks is doing Hana Yori Dango korean version thats why they all of a sudden coming up with Full House 2 which was technically cancelled. Because come ON the theme for dramas has changed even though 1 was ok, the only story line left it ‘kids’, and is that not Goong 2’s story line.
Anyway, i think they should cast both SHK and rain but just side lines to tell us what happened to them afterwards like Fated to love you (not that i even like this show) did in Invincible Shan Bao Mei. And make a whole new story line about some two other hot up and coming actors.

Rain n song hye gyo always gonna be my sweet couple of korean drama.in my country full house was captured many ppl hearts n makes them see another korean drama.if theres no rain n shk,full house will never be the same again. I suggest to cast same actors or not at all.they could cast new actors 4 full house 2.
Wasn’t exactly very much into the 1st season, especially since it ended so horribly. So I do have my doubts about the 2nd season. We shall see who they pair either of them up with.
Wish no more, 2 main casts of FH rejected acting in the sequel for various reasons.
Remember Goong 2 wasnt a continuity to Goong 1 quite a different story by itself, what then can we expect from Full House 2?
The fact remains that full house is associated with song and rain, thus casting people other than them will rresult in flop and big disappointment. Have you heard the Philippines buying the rights to do a remake to be acted by the Philippines current top superstars marian rivera and dingdong dantes? my, you should first watch these two Philippine actors they are both lovely beautiful and great actors. Just you watch and see how they give treatment to this comedy drama, it will be world-class since the network producing this is known for presenting award winning quality shows. This, I say again FH2 should star the original cast song and rain, other than them forget it.

funny.. I just saw these big letters saying “Plans annouced for a Full House Season 2″ and I was like “WHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! EVERYBODY LOOK AT THIS!!!!! WHAAAAA!!!!!” and then I started reading the article….. It was really embarassing when I read out, “First, Dont get too excited yet” by myself….And so… everybody made a fool of me….
but whatever! I really hope Song Hye Gyo and Rain will still be the main stars!!! I won’t watch it if they’re not!!!!!…… well, maybe I would… but it won’t work as the season 1 did!!! Just please don’t replace Young-Jae and Han Ji-Eun!!!! I really miss the couple XD
well, on the second thought……. yeah…. maybe they really need to find new characters with a different story…. But still, I won’t deny… I’d love it if SHG and Rain remains but as everybody was saying…. It WOULD totally be a mess. I don’t think it would be easy to continue Young Jae and Han Ji Eun’s story….. because it was OVER now they’re together.
Anyway, wish you good luck. I really hope you guys do a good job as you did in season 1….. Though I really think….. that you won’t get over it….. however you try….. season 1 will still be the best for me

That’s stupid. well, if they want it to be a “travel show” or “learning different languages lessons”, then go ahead. Might be fun. But don’t do that if you’re trying to make a Full House season 2.

Full House!!! Just AMAZING show! The first show that i’ve watch and finished till the last episode! This show open my heart and want to love someone like Ji-Eun (She’s so PERFECT)! God, i wish!

If they’re going to do season 2, they should put both Bi and Song. Just one won’t be as interesting and they shouldn’t really make it Pan Asia, it might spoil he whole thing.
i believe that rain and SHG should both be cast instead of only one. because everybody wants to see their love story. if there is a mix in the cast of these two then the love story of full house wouldn’t be the same.. also the season 2 wouldn’t have anymore meaning to the drama…

I am excited to see Rain and SHG back together in Fullhouse2.
I hope they will agree to work together again.
Their on cam chemistry is what made season 1 a huge success.

Not all sequels are disastrous anyway.
I saw one Taiwanese series wherein both season 1 and 2 are great success.
Hope this will be true for Fullhouse.

i hope rain and song hye kyo agree to be in full house 2. please. regarding the issue of not wanting to be in the role 4 years ago, that’s the role which introduced them to being big stars, so i think it’s fine to actually revive it or be in those roles again because it helped them be who they are. all the fans all over the world knew rain and shk because of full house. they have a very good chemistry and perfect pairing so please, rain and shk star in full house 2. a lot of people waited for this for so long. now its actually coming true, so i hope you consider it to make a lot of people happy.

And in my opinion, a pan-asian production sounds really cool. I think it just depends on what the plot is this time, how different it is and how they incorporate the other asian actors into the drama! I hope I’m not disappointed though, like I was for Goong S. Now that was gay.
i was so exciting that i knew about the FULL HOUSE SEASON 2…..because it is one of the most popular drama that i have been watch yet, and i am still expecting it would have other one to come out…
i hope RAIN AND SONY HYE-GYO are in it….

If ever Song hye kyo won’t be in the cast I know its really disappointing that only Rain will be there I also got dissapointed but hey we can’t do anything about it if one of the actors doesn’t like or won’t be on the drama again. But I realize that one of them is going to be there if ever why not if rain will be there and song hye kyo will be replaced why not the one who will replace the charac5ter of Song hye kyo will be Yoon Eun HYe I think she’s great. She’s great on the princess hours and from my views she and SHK are the only ones who can fit the role because we all know that they are really good actress. They both got a character on a drama that became successful not only in korea but also the whole asia. Princess hours and full house are one of the successful drama’s in all times why not if possible Yoon Eun hye of course no one can change SHK for me in these drama because she’s the original in the Full house but hey Yoon Eun hye can also portray the main character of SHK. I really like both stars SHK and rain hopefully they changed mind and both accept the project. Its really sad and dissappointed but I guess its part of life that we have to accept changes we don’t hold the lives of these great actor and actress. Until now I’m disseminated but we’ll see whatever result comes out when the casting goes out and the drama starts mmmm~~~~ but hopefully the story continues still the same characters from the first one. Please we only want the continuation of the story of the 1st original full house not a different story and not different character…we want the same story and the same character

야… 궁S 이것 보세요.. The only remaining characters are just 1 butler and 1 maid.. That story and characters chosen totally spoilt the entire drama.. Why can’t 2nd drama be as successful as the 1st?
Huan Zhu Princess in 1st 2 seasons continued with the same characters, the moment they changed them in the 3rd season, .. sad to say.. The new characters can’t bring the feel as the previous..
I would not wish Full House to change characters because they could bring the feelings and the voices into this drama and make it so real.. Fame is one thing.. But once the feel of the characters been switched, no one will support it..
Knowing that China’s and Taiwan’s actors and actresses where some of them don’t suit in acting in soap operas, kung fu dramas, Hong Kong action series.. Why risk to spoil your market and sales??? 나.. 모르겠어여.. ㅡㅡ

It’s so sad to hear that Rain & SHK are not casted together for the role in Full House 2. It won’t be full house without them. The chemistry they both brought and spread to the audience are irreplaceable. I think it’s a big challenge for the producers & team to success full house 2, at least like the previous one.
I hope Song Hye Kyo and Bi rain will Also the cast of full house . It wont be Full house 2 if thy are not the cast . The flow of the story will be confused . I hope both of them will be the partner . I miss the chemistry of their personality . They are jolly person so the role is deserving for them . It is not beautiful when both of them are not partner

i was really excited knowing that full house will have its second season since i was a huge fan of FULL HOUSE. and i guess it would be better if song hye gyo and rain will still be the main casts. the people loved the first season because of song- rain tandem and of their story. if its not them together in the second, its a total different story. it should be about them. (smiles..)

Hmm, I’ve recently finished watching Full House last month. I’ve heard about it years ago but never got the chance to watch until now and I REALLY do love it! I’ve been searching like crazy around the net to find where I can download the episodes until I found out that I could buy it from a shop with a really a good price but… the audio was in Chinese. T_T
Anyways… yes, I was FREAKING excited when I saw the “Full House Season 2″ thing on DramaWiki… all I could think was, I wish, hope and pray that Rain and Song Hye Gyo would be back. From reading the comments after reading the article, I agree with almost everyone here about the producers only choosing one of the main characters or the fact that it’s pretty much changing the story of Full House that’s unrelated to the manga. I wouldn’t mind a new cast but a cameo of Rain or Song Hye Gyo would be good and sort of a similar story but change it (shrugs). Though I seriously loved the chemistry Rain and Song Hye Gyo portrayed in the drama… it wouldn’t be the same without them when season two changes… =S
But seriously, I want to know why they decided make the second season ‘now’ after all these years…
true if both of them arent going to be the in the lead roles then there’s no use of making a full house 2 in order to continue they should have both of them star in it again that way it’ll have HIGHER ratings. character changes will (no offense) ruin full house 2
