Like Park Shin-hye, Jang Geun-seok is experiencing a rise in popularity leading the drama You’re Beautiful. In fact, he’s basking in the CF offers that have been rolling in recently, thanks to the drama. He’s already been featured in numerous CFs (SK Telecom’s Samsung phone, Etude House, Black N Jean), but he adds to that with a new contract to promote coffee for Dongsuh Foods, which he adds to a growing list of communications, clothing, and food brands he will also endorse.
According to Jang’s management, he’s mulling over his options carefully: “He’s putting some effort into choosing products that match well with his personality and character in the drama and as an actor.” He’s fortunate in that he has portrayed a variety of images thus far, so he’s not necessarily locked into his trendy idol image in his current role; he recently portrayed a dangerous murder suspect in the well-received thriller Itaewon Murder Case and a genius musician in Beethoven Virus. He’s also got lingering images from his roles in Happy Life and Hwang Jini.

I feel like the Korean entertainment industry is more CF-heavy, although I’m sure that quantity-wise, there are just as many endorsements here in the U.S. I’m thinking this is a difference in the media, and that U.S. news doesn’t tend to cover smaller endorsements like food products, instead choosing to focus on large ones like Louis Vuitton, luxury cars, etc. What do you think?
jang geun suk is such a versatile actor who could portraye differrent kinds of characters….and he deserves alll the success in life….in fact im one of those eels who is supporting him……saranghe king sukkie,…..hope you’ll take the lead role…in the korean version of it started with a kiss….

lol, believe it or not, leaving out Hong Gil Dong was a conscious choice. While it certainly wasn’t a bad role for him, I don’t think it’s one of his most memorable, compared to the others.

Hmm, kinda surprised that Jang Geon Suk would be that much more CF popular after YB. He’s already doing fine in that department and with that demographic. Good for Mr. Zoolander though. Great for the show. Ratings don’t tell the full story.

I like his top knot. Must be the Asian in me. One of the nice things about period films and dramas is the long beautiful hair on the men. I wish the long hair trend for men would come back in Asia. In ancient days the men must have looked so good.

That was to be expected, the same thing happened to the male lead in “Boys over flowers”. I have to say it is well deserved, “You’re beautiful” made me adore my wednesdays and thurdsays^^

I actually remember him in Lovers in Prague. He played the younger misbehaved little brother. I do agree with JB. His most notable that upped his game was Hwang Jini. That was a really good performance by both actors. Glad to see him doing so well.

I’ve discovered that my soft-spot for Prince Chang-whe was 100% due to the character being played by JGS. Otherwise, he’s kinda a douchey tool, but when I watched HGD, he was definitely a lot more palatable because Chang-whe’s dialogue was coming out of JGS’s mouth using JGS’s delicious voice.
I’m just so content watching JGS portray Tae-kyung, because TK is an amazingly fun character with actually a lot more depth coming through in each episode. And JGS is a pleasure to watch for me – he does okay with not so much, but in YB, he’s hitting a homerun with a lot.

I have always been a JGS fan and he is probably the most talented Korean actor in his age bracket. I watched all of his movies and most of his dramas (can’t find a decent copy of Lovers in Prague) and he has improved a lot.
I wish he sported this hairstyle in Hong Gil Dong. He would’ve given Kang Ji Hwan a run for his money.

To be honest, JGS isn’t really my ideal.. he is a little too androgenous for my liking, but he won me over with his acting and cute facial expressions. He clearly is the reason I’m enjoying his new drama. I love his character Taekyung and can’t wait to see how the story unfolds. Go Taekyung/JGS!

I think I stopped watching after he died in Hwang Jini because it just wasn’t worth it – besides there is something about the other guy’s character that bothered me and I didn’t like it. Anyway.
I’m not surprised that he’s getting more CF offers… but he’s already like a CF king already. He has SO MANY CFs going on at the same time, they all start mushing together and I confuse all of them. And now he’s getting more?! Wow.
Is anyone else bothered by how his jacket thing is so ill-fitted on him in that picture?! Why does it look so loose and weird on him… is it because I am too used to seeing nicely tailored suits and jackets and clothes???

Watched YB for HongKi, ended up falling head over heels for JGS. HIs cuteness in pics generally depends on the outfit he’s wearing, but in YB he just totally blows me away with TK’s ‘unique’ charm, regardless of the crazy clothes he wears!

JGS first impressed me through his portraying of Prince Chang Hui in Hong Gil Dong. The darkness, seriousness, sadness in his eyes and the way he fought plus you didn’t know if he was good or bad… I liked him better than Kang Ji Hwan.

I will venture to say, though, that LMH carried much of BOF for the rest of the cast, though, I must admit, he is a bit over-hyped.
LOL Anyway I am happy JGS is, at last, getting the respect he deserves as an actor. What strikes me with JGS, when I first noticed him (and for an actor of his generation, he is the first I felt like that), is doesn’t uses his looks, physical appearance as a prince charming to attracts, he is not affraid to somewhat looks sounds ridiculous (cf his failed attempt to disguise as a dragqueen lol) if it’s needed for the character.

I think javabeans has been following a lot of Jang Geun Suk’s CFs already: Black N Jean, Toucholic and Just Drag… I haven’t watched him in Beethoven Virus though… The show never really appealed to me and I didn’t want to see him play second fiddle again…

Jang Geon Suk caught my eye during his tiny part in in Four Women. Then, he really was just a kid, but he played the part with exceptional vulnerability. I’ve been looking for That actor ever since.

It’s kind of sad how the stylists in YB out of their way to uglify this beautiful boy. I keep looking at the photo up top and cannot for the life of me figure out why the stylists insist on putting him in horrible 80s tops and lousy hair. Shin Woo is given the best look, while TK is made out to be a freak.

From the moment I watch Jang Geun Soek’s (or is it Jang Keun Soek?) performance in Hong Gil Dong I knew I have fallen for him. And the sad thing is, I fell for his looks rather than his acting. He’s total eye candy, but the acting in HGD wasn’t exactly his best. I still did enjoy the drama regardless, but I did notice how much potential this hottie had. After that I kept up with all his flims and dramas, espically with You’re Beautiful. His performance is beyond outstanding there. His acting improved so much disregarding the fact that the role was basically tailored out to fit him. He proved to many that although the role was handed to him, he still acted the character to perfection. I will continue to support JGS with anything he does in the future. JSG truly deserves more recognition, then just ‘another pretty face’.
we can really expect a full blast of commercial offers, people just cant resist him.
