Jae Hee is back! YESSSSSSSS!!
The drama is an MBC weekend dealio called Hooray For Love, which appears to be the same drama previously referred to as She Never Loses, starring Lee Bo-young (Birth of the Rich). She plays Kang Jae-mi, divorcée who overcomes obstacles in the basic Candy-esque narrative trajectory.
Jae Hee will play Byun Dong-woo, a man with a well-to-do background, good looks, a stable job as a lawyer and good manners to boot, making him the perfect man…on the outside. That’s till you get a little closer and realize that he’s got some flaws, like the fact that he’s a total playboy. He’s also described as Jae-mi’s old enemy, who gets hired to invalidate Jae-mi’s divorce (presumably by her ex-husband). As her success story unfolds, Dong-woo becomes one of her solid supporters — and, of course, love interests.
Naturally, we need another lead to fill out our requisite love triangle, and it comes in the form of Jung Seok-won, who played the rival judo athlete and friend to the hero in last year’s Dr. Champ. He plays Lee Bo-young’s first husband here, described as a loser who betrays his wife (and hence the divorce). Clearly he’s not ready to give up on her just yet, so it oughtta be fun to watch the two boys in a showdown once Dong-woo realizes he’s fighting on the wrong side. (Now that I think about it, the whole lawyer angle is probably breaking a million rules of business ethics, but hey, this is a K-drama and we’re talking about a love story! What’s a little thing like ethics?)

Jae Hee said, “Since this is my first project after army service, I deliberated a lot and felt some pressure, but I was drawn to this Byun Dong-woo character. He has a multi-faceted personality and seems perfect, but isn’t quite there, and also has a quirky and cute side to him. I feel like I’ll be able to show a slightly different side to myself than I’ve shown before, which excites me.”
Hooray For Love is a weekend drama, which is not my usual cup of tea, mostly due to the length of most weekend series. On the other hand, this is Jae Hee! Back after three years! He’s one of those actors I fell completely in love with (I mean talent-wise, though he ain’t hard on the eyes, either), but who hasn’t really lived up to his full potential, either through bad choices or long hiatuses between projects. I think he was at his best in 2004 and 2005, when he was intense and a little ominous in Kim Ki-duk’s 3-Iron, then completely hilarious and heartfelt in Delightful Girl Chun-hyang. He hasn’t been that good since, having done lackluster dramas like Witch Amusement and Three Dads, One Mom.
(Please, please, let this drama be a good one! I need my Jae Hee fix. There’s only so many times I can watch Chun-hyang.)
The producers involved are PD Ji Sung-woo of Gold Fish and Chun-ja’s Happy Events and Park Hyun-joo, writer of My Precious You and Golden Bride. Hooray For Love will follow Can You Hear My Heart? and premieres in July.

YAY! I need a good Jae Hee project. The last things I tried to watch with him in it were 3 Dads 1 Mom and Mandate, which, lets face it, were both horrible. I’ll even sit through a full weekend drama if they do a good job.
On a side note: Jung Seok-won. Has he been in a drama where he got the girl? I can’t stop thinking of Creating Destiny, where I wanted to bust out the writer’s eyes for torturing him.
You just spoke my mind! I felt so sorry for him in creating destiny. I stopped watching when I read spoilers that he WASN’T going to get his girl after all he did. There was no reason to torture him like that, ‘cos he wasn’t even the third lead.
<3 I already know that I'm going to love him as a lawyer.
p.s: Does anyone know how many episodes weekend dramas typically are? I’ve only seen 16-25 ones before.
I read somewhere that this drama will follow Can You Hear My Heart, which is 30 episodes. Before that in this timeslot was Flames of Ambition with 50 episodes. There were some more with about 30 episodes, one or two with 50 and a bunch around 16-24.
they could range from 20 (Secret Garden) to 32 (CYHMH, The Duo) to 50 (Flames of Ambition, New tales of Gisaeng) and more if extended (Life is Beautiful had 63)
The Duo is a MON/TUES drama, not a weekend one

Actually, I loved him in 3 Dads! His timing was always perfect. And, he had us ROFL, all the time. Even now, I just think of him in the scenes with the baby and start laughing.
Jung Seok-won has been diverse in his roles. First, a disabled judo champ, in Dr. Champ. Next was an emotionally-unattached aide-de-camp, who just kills on the spot, in Midas. And, now …
Jung Seok-won was also in Creating Destiny as lead’s best friend/love sick puppy…he was sooooo cute in his one-sided noona love… I’m happy he’s getting a bigger role (hopefully) this time I was disappointed in MIDAS

Plus, playboy main lead? Don’t think I’ve seen that in a kdrama before (not saying it doesn’t exist, just that it hasn’t been in any of the dramas i watched).
There was some discussion before about how Mr Darcy seems to be the default characterisation for the main lead in a lot of dramas, so this could be an interesting change.
Unless he’s a Mr Darcy playboy. It which case yeesh.
I am glad to see him back. I have been waiting. No news of marriage or girlfriend though. Someone had said that he went marriage hunting after he got out of service. I don’t think that is true, since there has been no word of such.
It’s also a great pick me up to know that once Kim Jae Won is done, Jae Hee will take the helm. Our weekends will hopefully continue to shine with another good drama.
We all know that marriage hunting rumor isn’t true because it wouldn’t have taken a year.
All he had to do was step out of military service, say: “Anyone wants to marry me?” and hundreds of us will jump him in a sec.

Was never a big fan of Lee Bo-young, but I’ll check it out bc of Jae Hee. I didn’t like his character in ‘witch amusement,’ which was a big disappointment, but I’ll always remember him from ‘choon-yang’… so I hope it turns out interesting. I’ve been enjoying some weekend dramas lately even though they are lengthy, but if they’re good, I don’t mind lots of episodes!

Thank goodness, I am really, really, really HAPPPY seeing him BACK after his military service and I can’t believe that it’s really FAST by time, of course. I enjoyed watching him in that drama “Delightful Girl Chun-hyang” and “Witch Amusement” but it’s very fun and entertaining! ^_____^

Are you a fan of Kim Rae Won? If I calculated correctly he should be coming out of MS Mid June 2011. But I am wondering if I calculated properly (22 months) because I haven’t heard anything about him signing onto a movie or drama. Who knows he might just come out and rest like Jae Hee did. Even Gong Yoo travelled to NYC, USA after his MS.

It’s cute to see Javabeans so excited. I have to admit, I wasn’t his biggest fan (no negative feelings, rather, neutrality) I enjoyed him in 3-Iron though and am slightly piqued by the drama plot – hopefully they will get brave (and therefore) juicy with the lawyer/divorce business.

After I’ve started longer drama with Can You Hear My Heart? Which I’ve come to love so much, a heart warming show, I wouldn’t mind this one cuz longer drama seems to develop the character better, and the story won’t be rush also come with complete ending, as long as, you can bare the pain of waiting. Then I started to find 16ep drama lacking, so will be checking on this one, cuz I love both leads.
Buahaha, talking about ‘ethics’, Romance Town one wife, one misstress, one maid as misstress co-habitation are so fun and hilarious in a way, you can’t help laughing –which we all know JUST in a Kdrama.
