This should perk up fans of mania drama Damo: Its star Lee Seo-jin and writer Jung Hyung-soo are re-teaming for a new MBC fusion sageuk drama that sheds new light on the life of Baekje-era general Kye Baek, which is also the drama’s name.
The project has got “sageuk hit” written all over it: Damo remains one of Lee Seo-jin’s most memorable roles, and he had another hit playing a king in Yi San; its writer went on to pen mega-blockbuster sageuk Jumong; and its PD Kim Geun-hong worked on Dae Jang Geum, Jumong, Dong Yi, Queen Seon-deok, and Yi San. Yeesh. With creds like that, this is a case where it’ll be more shocking if the drama fails than if it shoots to success. No pressure or anything.
This’ll be Lee’s first drama in two years, after shooting the eerie summer horror series Hon. It plans for large-scale shoots in China and is currently casting.
Kye Baek is being planned for a 32-episode run and will premiere in July. It’s a Monday-Tuesday show that’ll follow Ripley, which is the show that follows MBC’s fusion sageuk The Duo.

damo is kind of a tragedy but its awesome and the OST is amazing. Ha ji won is there and she is amazing. i love love Seo Jin in yi san and i cant wait to see those dimples , i mean those gorgeous dimples again. i love him especially in historical dramas and i am so on board this train. woo hoo.
If you don’t mind crying an ocean and have your heart broken into a million pieces, yes, go and watch Damo.
What I hate the most is when a drama kills its leads. And I hate Damo’s writers for that. But despite that it’s awesomely awesome! And I LOVE Com. Hwangbo to pieces. I don’t LOVE that many characters in KDrama -only Lee Jin Soo and Kang Ah- but Com. Hwangbo is my first LOVE.
I knew I was going to be insane when I finished Damo, but I couldn’t stop myself because of Hwangbo.

Woah, I’m not big on saeguk’s but I do like looking at the fan-made mash-ups because they tend to have the prettiest costumes, most care when doing choreo. and incredibly beautiful scenery.
That said, that’s cool that he’s up for another.

I couldn’t finished Damo. For my own sanity, I had to stop at episode 12. I think I was getting physically ill from all the crying.
I loved him in Yi San (all 77 episodes), I loved him in Lovers, and yes, I don’t care what you think, I loved him in Phoenix. And I died when I saw his sexy self in Freeze (vampires and Lee Seo Jin? two of my favorite things in the universe)
I cried a little when he wasn’t the lead to Lie to Me.
I have the same opinion as yours . I loved Phoenix and Lovers too ! And I couldn’t finish Damo when I read that the end would be sad . And Yi San is one of my favorites .
I like sageuk when they are in the Joseon era so I am a little bit worried .

Please don’t hate me but I can’t get excited about this news. If I can’t like/understand an actor’s reasons for doing something, then I can’t enjoy watching him on screen. And for me the way he ended his relationship with Kim Jung Eun kind of left a bad taste in my mouth where he is concerned. I know it’s been over two years and it’s not the fact he broke up w/her, but the WAY he supposedly did it and his lack of explanation as far as I know. Has he ever explained it even to her?! He completely ruined Lovers for me and for that I don’t think I can forgive him.
Yea he was a complete ass for what he did to her. Wonder when he came back to Korea. He’s a decent actor and I like him in Yisan but thats about it.

i liked LSJ in the drama Lovers too because thats the drama where i first saw him. im not that affected of the break up because im not rooting for both of them, in fact i dont like his ex and im happy the he broke up with her. i like LSJ most in Phoenix. its a worth watching drama. also Damo and Yi San.
I agreed with her that he WAS an ass to his ex and he WAS end of story. He IS also a decent actor and I can separate his personal life from his professional life.

Me tool I stopped Damo after the 19th epi. Too much to handle the crying. I’m on rewatching Yi san now. I like him in Phoenix and Lovers. I didn’t care too much of his vampire themed drama.

I disagree. I didnt like the ending because Lee Seo Jin’s character dies. I mean how hard was it to say she is your sister don’t kill her. It took him like 5 min then said after he fatally stabbed him. Then he tells damo he is a brother at the last minute knowing she may do something crazy.
I am so happy I havent watched him in anything since Yisan and he is such a talent. He is my favorite actor and loved him in Yisan. He was sexy in Damo but I didn’t like the drama mainly coz of the writer who is also writing this one. I will still watch it though
