A Dramabeans Meetup? Vote!

We’ve had a lot of requests over the years for a Dramabeans Meetup, and while that seemed like a good idea in theory, we were always daunted by the reality of prying ourselves away from our screens, putting on pants and venturing into the sunlight. And then somebody suggested, “Nighttime could work and pants are still optional.” The idea was too genius not to consider.

So before we get really serious about putting on pants, we thought we’d ask you if you’d be interested in coming to such an event, to gauge interest. Because it would be really sad to be the only two people at our birthday party. [I dunno whatchoo talkin’ ‘bout. My mom will be there. *throws confetti* -GF]

As it turns out, we’ll be heading over to New York next month — who knew there were classes on Hallyu now? — which strikes us as a good time to test out this Meetup experiment. Unless the poll results say otherwise, that is, in which case you can stop reading now and we’ll turn away to cry into our ice cream. Votes?

Clearly we know exactly what we are doing and have no need of any help whatsoever in planning such an event because of our extraordinary foresight and stellar planning skills… but okay, we’ll open ourselves up to offers of help, if you insist. Does anyone have great ideas for meeting places? I’m sure we can scrounge something up, but right now our best idea is huddling somewhere in Central Park, fighting with the squirrels for space. Those bastards can be vicious.

And if you do think the Meetup is a fun idea but wish it were in your hometown, tell us where you’d like us to go next, and maybe we can make it happen!

Maybe, beanies from across the world who can't make New York should try to organize a meetup in their respective cities at the same time? That's doable right?

I'm Malaysian too... although I'm more of a lurker these days. But JB has become my daily habit for years now... definitely need my JB fix on a day to day basis or I go into withdrawal. LOL. A meetup in NYC would be amazing, although right now next to impossible for me. :)

I'm not too sure but things are certainly turning for the better lately, the people are less panicky now. We need to unite more than ever! :)
Even in the midst of our chaotic life,we'll always have K-dramas to turn to for solace. ;)

Seoul! I moved here last year and married a local so now it's looking like I will never ever leave. Which is cool, minus the whole I-can-never-do-anything-in-the-States-ever-again thing. (I have no money for travel. Obviously you should come to me! Also the city where I live is an insanely popular filming location and we can all stalk dramas together.)

Kender I totally love your idea! I normally don't visit the same foreign cities/country more than once but Korea/Seoul is special particularly if I have someone who wants to go to filming location and stalk!

Aaaw...am from SE Asia so no I can't come to NY at such short notice. Although I've seen pics of JB & GF already from way way back posted here by someone who attended comic con. I have it saved in my mobile and FB. Hehehehehe...and I'll never delete it unless I get new great ones from the upcoming meet-up. Anyone who wants a copy of that pic so they can ID the boss ladies of DB, email me @ everoarke7@yahoo.com. ;)

But if I live there I'd be there like yesterday. Though I'd be shy all of a sudden because of all the familiar but new people. *hides face in pillow*

So I hope whenever that day is there'll be meet-ups from Beanies all over the world not just in NY where the prez & VP of wit, beauty, and sarcasm would personally be (unless it's April Fool's Day).

Can we burn effigies of the big bad DF while we're at it? The more I learn of how they've been for the past year, the more I'm getting angry. Hmph.

You know I was thinking that maybe the girls at DB can do an international fan-meet of sorts? Yunno, kinda like a world tour thingy 'cept it's an occasion where beanies meetup instead of the usual star signs autographs for fans thingy. I KNOW.it IS unrealistic in the sense that in order for them to be able to do this they need to come up with more funds. :(
But you know, hearing about this meetup suddenly made me all fired up with passion because regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, race, religion, appearance and ____ (insert anything else that is relevant) all of us essentially share a burning love for Korean dramas and movies and music. And that's what matters the most. The thought that we are not alone in this, and knowing that many people are reading the stuff at DBs from various places around the globe empowers me. FEELING PROUD TO BE A BEANIE.
I haven't been around in the DB community for super long but it has been about 3 years now. To me,GF and JB are like the ultimate hero recappers (the same goes to HeadsNo2,gummimochi and kaedejun). :D
You guys are like the pillar of this site, and without the many recaps that you guys have written,I wouldn't enjoyed the k-dramas as much as I did. I stand firm in my belief that the drama watching experience is better enhanced through recaps because we get a deeper understanding of the characters in dramas and learn new things from each watch. Even when we've come across a horrible drama with terrible execution,we still learn from it. It wouldn't be the same without you all. I really look up to you awesome people (this includes all of you awesome beanies who often actively take part in the drama discussions and even you silent lurkers out there) out there. I've been a silent lurker for about two years and only started joining in the discussions very recently and I'm glad that I did you. It's like discovering a family member that you never knew you had.
I digress, anyway what I really wanna say is that I really adore you recappers just like a fan who loves certain hallyu star(insert whoever relevant in your case). In fact,I think I like them more than the stars because they are superhero recappers! So it would mean A LOT to me(and other non-US readers) if you guys can have meetup in other places too. Please consider having an international meetup, pretty pretty please? I'm sure that fellow beanies from their respective countries would be more than glad to show you awesome spots around their hometown. (Yes I am getting a tad bit carried away now but who cares,I'm on a roll now ahahaha.)
BOTTOM LINE: PLEASE VISIT OTHER COUNTRIES TOO!
Saranghae! :3

This thread (other than make me realize that I apparently don't live in the right place.. buahaha) is epic alone just because we can finally see where everyone is from.

We should add one of those maps to this site that allows you to 'pin' your location. It would be neat to be able to open it and see just how diverse this community is.
