A Dramabeans Meetup? Vote!

We’ve had a lot of requests over the years for a Dramabeans Meetup, and while that seemed like a good idea in theory, we were always daunted by the reality of prying ourselves away from our screens, putting on pants and venturing into the sunlight. And then somebody suggested, “Nighttime could work and pants are still optional.” The idea was too genius not to consider.

So before we get really serious about putting on pants, we thought we’d ask you if you’d be interested in coming to such an event, to gauge interest. Because it would be really sad to be the only two people at our birthday party. [I dunno whatchoo talkin’ ‘bout. My mom will be there. *throws confetti* -GF]

As it turns out, we’ll be heading over to New York next month — who knew there were classes on Hallyu now? — which strikes us as a good time to test out this Meetup experiment. Unless the poll results say otherwise, that is, in which case you can stop reading now and we’ll turn away to cry into our ice cream. Votes?

Clearly we know exactly what we are doing and have no need of any help whatsoever in planning such an event because of our extraordinary foresight and stellar planning skills… but okay, we’ll open ourselves up to offers of help, if you insist. Does anyone have great ideas for meeting places? I’m sure we can scrounge something up, but right now our best idea is huddling somewhere in Central Park, fighting with the squirrels for space. Those bastards can be vicious.

And if you do think the Meetup is a fun idea but wish it were in your hometown, tell us where you’d like us to go next, and maybe we can make it happen!

Sometimes its about timing lol. I do not live close to NY but I could get there. However, I will not be able to travel next month. I do hope that the meet up occurs and everyone has a wonderful time and perhaps I could manage one in the future.

Oh, I know! You should win the lottery or marry someone really rich (you should know all there is to know by now), take a gap year and tour! Start with the US of course, and then hit Europe (like London and/or Paris, and/or some sun in Barcelona), and ends the tour in Seoul, Korea, where all the Beanies you met so far or some new ones would finally get to see the main locations with you as guides!
(You could even get paid a little to pay for the accomodation or the return ticket, or you could even start your own summer tourist tours ever year!... Ok, maybe that's going too far.)

Seriously, too bad the plane ticket for the US is too expensive and it's too short notice anyways. I could totally listen to you guys talk drama, music and stars while I'm being bullied by a squirrel and trying to express myself with my bad foreign accent while eating a bagel!

I think it'll be good to either have the meeting in NYC(although I don't live there myself but it seems to be the majority) and provide lots of pictures of it or just have an Internet chat in G+ or the YouTube chat so that everyone who can't move are able to participate

I'm going to be in NYC from April 11-13, so it should def be then. Except I'm seeing Phantom of the Opera one night, not sure when though. And it's a school choir trip so I'd have to drag along some of my friends... but I'm in!

I live in the SF Bay Area. A trip to LA would be pretty easy (isn't the largest Korea town in US in LA?)

On the other hand, I've never been to Chicago and I'd be willing to shell out the $$ to see CHI with a bunch of uber-fun KDrama devotees.

Whether we have a world-wide meetup or not, it certainly looks like there are plenty of places where we have enough people to get together once in a while and enjoy dramas together. Is there anyway that we can coordinate this?

What an excellent response! Love seeing the vote results with overwhelming numbers for "No, I don't live anywhere near NYC" "But if I could I would attend..." - me too!

Will there be any actors/idols/behind-the-sceners in person for the Hallyu course? (It doesn't surprise me that this is a course/class - it could fall under communicaitons/cultural studies/contemporary studies/sociology/music & the arts/business/entertainment etc.)

I took "rhetoric in communications" which was in actuality "the life and times of Bob Dylan" for college credit - lots of rockin' and, well let's just say it was a high ol' time ~ which I imagine this might be as well :)

keep us postd on the event!

To be honest I doubt anyone on here is with me in El Paso or living on Ft.Bliss, but that's where I'm at; here in big old TEXAS "representing". Honestly I could travel in the state so anywhere here is fine but is anyone from El Paso?

If I were near NY, I'd totally come. And for the first question, I think there should be an option that combines the first two choices because I'd totally come, but I don't like [most] people. I figure my fellow beanies can relate?Lol!
