Jin Se-yeon joins Lee Jong-seok in Doctor Stranger

Confirmations are in for Jin Se-yeon (Age of Feeling), who was offered the lead in SBS’s spring Monday-Tuesday drama Doctor Stranger opposite Lee Jong-seok. She’s signed on to play the heroine (and her doppelganger, naturally), which means the show finally has a leading foursome secured. The casting isn’t terribly exciting, though it makes perfect sense that they went from Park Min-young to Jin Se-yeon, because they’re pretty interchangeable in my mind.
Doctor Stranger is the medical spy melodrama from PD Jin Hyuk of Master’s Sun and City Hunter and writer Park Jin-woo of Conspiracy in the Court. It stars Lee Jong-seok as a North Korean doctor who defected to the South and gets treated as an outsider in the hospital where he works. Park Hae-jin (You From Another Star) and Kang So-ra (Watch Out For Fools) play the other geeeenius doctors in the hospital.
Jin Se-yeon will play two roles, one as an anesthesiologist and Eastern medicine specialist. She’s the daughter of a merchant who emigrated to China, with a sweet, dutiful disposition. And then her doppelganger (I really hope they have a good explanation for why they have the same face other than “just because”) is a woman on a secret mission to get close to the hero. So I guess that makes her the spy in this spy drama. Earlier plot descriptions did mention the hero’s first love who ALSO had the same face; if that’s still true, it could mean that she becomes the spy, or there are just seventy gajillion Jin Se-yeons running around in this drama.
She’ll be coming straight from the set of her current Occupation-era epic Age of Feeling, which wraps just a few weeks before Doctor Stranger premieres. It’s actually not the first time she’s had such a crazy schedule, because I remember her joining shoots for Five Fingers concurrently with the last few weeks of Gaksital. Somebody get this girl a nap.

I prefer Jin Seyeon over Park Minyoung, to be honest, so this is definitely a good news for me! Overall the cast are awesome, but I'm not really interested so far
The story sounds like another You Who Came From the Star so yeah.. I guess it all depends on the directing and script

It's interesting though and I just noticed that the fact these two actresses have both replaced Kim So Eun.
Jin Se Yeon replaced Kim So Eun in Age of Feeling (drama) whilst
Kang So Ra replaced Kim So Eun in Fourth Period Murder Mystery (movie)
I guess these were the only 2 works/projects I know in where Kim So Eun have drop and need to be replaced due to schedule conflict.
But nevertheless, i wish luck for Jin Se Yeon and Kang So Ra in this drama.

I'm watching for Lee Jong Suk but I am seriously disappointed about Jin Seyeon's casting...her acting was unbearable to me in Gasiktal...I hope it was just the character she played...

It was interesting Joo Won-Jin Se Yeon on Gaksital and Lee Jong Suk-Park Se Young on School 2013. They changing. JW-PSY on Fashion King and then LJS-JSY on Dr Stranger. I don't care anymore with bad opinion for JSY (most about her acting, i can accept it because everyone has own opinion when watched some drama). But I really sad when someone cursed anyone (actress) who she/he didn't knew personally. She not take your boyfriend why you so sentiment? It's childish and prove how shallow you are even it was your personal opinion. It just drama why we not try to be wise. The cast was clear. Just waited the series air.

I'm more intrigue with LJS as a leading man. It's his first right? I mean, I don't think him as a lead in all of his previous works, it's more that his co-stars - whose always more experienced and better in term of acting than him - are the leads, like Lee Bo Young, Jang Nara/Choi Daniel, Park Bo Young, etc. This drama will prove if he's really a leading material and able to pull it off or not.

I think Jin Se Yeon is pretty decent actress. She has improved a lot in AOF. Gakistal was her first period piece where she had a leading role, that tough for a young actress. I though she was great in My Daughter the Flower. She has since been taking acting classes, and has even done theater playing Alice in Closer. I think she is continuing to improve and this role will let her play two different characters and I'm excited to see how that turns out. People are to quickly to judge especially if they only watched one show she was in.

i love the rest of the cast..and I will definitely watch this...even if it has Jin SeoYeon..as long as the writing and directing is good. But it would be better if it was another actress...but I'll take what I can get..I mean it's got HaeJin and JeongSeok in one drama..now that's worth watching for :D

Jin SeoYeon is lucky that she was in all the good dramas. It is too bad that somehow I dislike her even she is pretty and her acting is considered good to me, may be her actings just make me dislike her. It is hard to explain, it is more like a feeling.

I 100% agree with you..Luna...what you said about jin se yeon.I do really love this girl acting in MDTF and others drama too. she is really so sweet and act naturally through her script eventhough she is and was still young...pls you others dont tarnish this actress personality.whats wrong for her working so hard..other actors and actresses can do it ...why cant she...thats how you improved and succeed in life...Song Ji Hyo can do it running man and emergency couple which we enjoy watching. so is Jin Se Yeon. what overlapping?itsnatural for actors and actresses to do it...let it be...pls cheer for her..Bless u girl...gooo.

I don't have anything against her, but she's like she's just....... well, there. Nothing special, just there as a lead. Her co-actors are more memorable. If there is anything memorable about her is how she messes up her schedule by taking on projects, over lapping each other, and probably got her character offed by it. :-/

wow so many negativity towards JSY -.- like are fking srs? She's a really talented actress. She's only 20 and attends university and acting at the same time.She has hectic schedule like how about the people who doesnt even study acting starts to BS about other actresses or actors? have you ever thought how she would feel and to be in her shoes? I really don't get Kang sora fans either like she isn't that good, I didn't like her in almost every dramas shes in. Maybe it's me but I don't BS about other actress and actors. Still I am rooting for JSY :D I heard she will be playing LJS love interest :) Can't wait!! jsy has natural beauty thats why I love her so much :)
