Moonlight Drawn By Clouds rejects extension, to end with 18 episodes

Huzzah! Rejoice! *leaps for joy*
I was afraid KBS would strong-arm its latest drama sensation, youth romance sageuk Moonlight Drawn By Clouds, into an unnecessary extension to milk its popularity a bit more, but the Powers That Be have decided to forego that idea and end as originally planned, with 18 episodes. Reasons cited are because the follow-up drama is already in planning (Su Ae’s The Man Living in Our House), and because they want to preserve the quality of Moonlight Drawn By Clouds.
Well, thank goodness they saw sense, because as much as I’d have forced myself to take a positive outlook on an extension, I’ve never felt that more episodes made for a better drama. So we can all relax and settle back to watch the rest of the show play out as originally planned. And do a few extra leaps of joy.
Moonlight Drawn By Clouds started off modestly with an 8.3% rating on its premiere, but favorable response and strong word of mouth carried it into hit territory and ratings doubled in its second week; it went on to break 20% ratings, which is about where it stands now. Can’t wait for Mo(o)nday, when we get our Episode 11. *impatient waiting* *grabby hands*

I was a bit worried as the actors were already starting to look a wee bit tired and we are only just past the half-way mark with quite a few more episodes to go.
Really did not want the quality of this drama to drop due to fatigue and time-constraints and pressure to drag a good thing out too much.
Now that one piece of anxiety is off our shoulders, hopefully the rest of the drama will be just as awesome to the very end!

I'm happy about this as well. Like others here I also noticed Bogummy and YooJung looking quite tired in the recent episodes. The casts are so young and they're working so hard for this drama. I got worried when I saw how red Yoojung's eyes were in last week's episodes. Bogummy also has dark eye bags too...I think live-shooting is starting to really affect these actors and bless them that they're doing a wonderful job with their acting. I'm still amazed that this drama is still very much top-notch without losing its quality.

Tell me about it! The cast is so dedicated! I saw on one of the BTS clips (I think it was an interview with the main cast on set) and the interviewer asked PBG what time he arrived on set and he said 6.30am. The interviewer then responded that he must be very tired and that maybe they should leave him to rest and PBG in typical good-natured fashion, was quick to deny it and said that it's ok he managed to catch some sleep in his car! Gah!

Exactly, these kids are way too kind to say no to pressures. In one of 1N2D episodes (the one before Bogummy joined as a guest), Cha Tae Hyun made a phone call to Bogummy at midnight. In fact it's probably way past midnight and Bogummy picked up the phone call. At that time he just finished filming his part for Moonlight and you can here YooJung in the phone call too. Jesus, if arriving on set to work 6.30am and ending the day past midnight... it's crazy work hours!
It's like what I read about Kill Me Heal Me, when it was still filming, Ji Sung only had 2 hours sleep!

Well, now that there is no extension, the production crew can now be completely focussed on consistently maintaining the quality of this show, without all that additional pressure to build in fillers and whatnot.
Also, with all the love MDBC is getting in Korea, hopefully it will also translate to outward and practical support such as food trucks or gifts to the cast and the production team to keep up their spirits and their energy. Every little helps!
Another potential positive is that is may not be as hot over there as summer is now over. Struggling with the heat in the handbooks must be killer on the energy and concentration!
And on that note, just how much is PBG rocking his handbooks?! He cuts a really dashing and regal figure in them, I just can't stop looking! *_*

I feel you, I don't want to stop seeing PBG on screen but I would terribly hate it if they forego the quality of the drama for extension (and tbh, most extension means more angst).
So big yay for the PD team for standing their ground!
Now - if only Lee Soo Hyuk can be the next lead to grace our screen...

I knew I couldn't be the only one who thinks that it's about time he plays lead. Almost all of his batchmates from White Christmas have played leads and after watching him give life and all that to Gwi, I was hoping to see him get a leading role. I was rather disappointed to find out that he'll be playing second fiddle to Kim Young-Kwang (although the fact that they are friends in real life makes me happy). IMO he is a better actor, but in retrospect, I can see why the producers give KYK the lead role. KYK has a more commercial, flexible and relatable look. Whereas LSH is more haute couture, for the lack of a better word. But eventually him playing second leads will work on his favor, giving him more time to practice and hone his craft more. Let us join hands together in praying for the day when Lee Soo-Hyuk gets the lead!

He's one of the most charismatic actors around, and extremely talented. He portrayed more emotion in that one ghost show in a few minutes with no lines then the rest of the leads did combined...still burnt that they didn't wake him from his coma instead of truly killing him off :(

My exams (that spanned over a month) had just ended yesterday, so I just began my Moonlight Drawn By Clouds marathon yesterday. I'm only at episode 6, and I can't describe how great this drama is. I had loved Park Bo Gum since I Remember You and Reply 1988, and this has amplified it even more, and he's definitely my favorite actor at the moment.

Something to look forward to: Beige's song, the goosebumps inducing humming instrumental, will finally be released next week! And Baek Jiyoung's sad song "Love is Over" will be released too and I read that this will be the theme of YeongOn. :'( I guess this means that tears of sadness will commence in upcoming episodes. Gotta be ready with tissues.

I was felt kinda wary KBS going to extend MDBC. Agree with everyone, nothing really necessary comes from extension.
Finally someone can say no to that extensions idea! I wish other PD going to do the same if met with such option.

I'm... honestly sad. Just an episode of our puppy couple being all giddy in love wasn't enough for me, wish they could have extend an episode and show us that. *pouts* On the other hand, I do want Moonlight to keep its momentum until the end and end with a bang.

I cant remember the last time i'm obsessed with a drama like this.. The King 2 Hearts maybe. I easily got bored after a few episodes.
However, Moonlight has been well done from beginning to the latest episode. Seriously, i have no words to describe it. This drama is a manisfesto of how a team work should be.
For example, when i first listen to the soundtracks outside of the drama, i dont like them that much. However, in the drama, they heighten the mood, and everything is just so perfect and completes each other. The music, the acting, the storyline, the directing, the cinematograpy, the editing. Everything. They are good separately, but together, they are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Now, i'm listening to the full ost over and over, rewatching the drama over and over, checking this website over and over because i just cant get enough.
Thumbs up to the WHOLE PRODUCTION for sticking to their principle on producing a good drama. You all have my respect.
And thank you for bringing me back to my kdrama addiction!
With this kind of production i have no worries what will come next. Even if the quality lessen a bit later, i blame it on their live shooting.
