Relaxed smiles on the set of JTBC’s Man to Man

Promo materials remain scarce for JTBC’s Man to Man, but I’m happy to see two of its leads smiling in these latest photos from the drama’s shoots. It’s been filming for weeks now (it began production in mid-October), but since it’ll be a pre-produced drama that airs next year, it seems to be taking its time and releasing materials on a bit of a delay. (Pre-productions make me so impatient.)

Pictured, we have Park Hae-jin (Cheese in the Trap), who plays a mysterious shadow agent who becomes a bodyguard to a Hallyu star (who’ll be played by one of my favorite sexy ajusshis, Park Sung-woong). Kim Min-jung (Master of Trade—Inn 2015), standing with him in the stills, plays a manager at the agency repping Park Sung-woong, who also happens to be the star’s fan club president.

The two characters get off to a rocky start, considering they’re at cross purposes: Park Hae-jin is working a hidden agenda as he gets close to the star, while Kim Min-jung is naturally protective of him, both personally and professionally. They’ll get over that initial tension at some point, because the producers promise us an “un-ordinary, unpredictable romance that will thrill” between them. Sounds promising.

Man to Man will air on JTBC in early 2017; the schedule has not been confirmed yet, but it’s likely to get the Friday-Saturday timeslot after Solomon’s Perjury, unless that goes to Park Bo-young’s Strong Woman Do Bong-soon instead, in which case chances are good that it’ll follow that drama.

It's his hyung, Shin Sung-rok's character, from You From Another Star. :) That "take care of your health/how's your health" was hyung's creepy line.

Lol! Ahaha, you're too much! But creepy hyung sure was creepy in that role...

My thoughts EXACTLY! That was seriously the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this post.

He looks so much more youthful in these stills than any time in Cheese (even in the hs flashbacks), ha! I think it's mostly the hair, but the wardrobe's got a lot to do w it too. I'm just glad his hair's up and not stiff and sticking to his face. ??????

Park Hae Jin's career in korea can be said literally over as the majority of netizen hated him due to his recent scandal. So, yeah, the rating in korea wont b promising.

I sincerely doubt Park Hae Jin's career was hurt at all. There are real scandals that can permanently hurt careers and "scandals" that are just netizens blowing hot air. The recent Park Hae Jin "scandal" was more of the latter.

For the blissfully unaware - Park Hae Jin recently had the misfortune to appear in a picture - from 14 years ago! - with a figure from the influence peddling political scandal engulfing Korea. This led some dumb netizens to start making all sorts of insinuations including dredging up his old military exemption scandal - for which PHJ had already been absolved of wrongdoing - as if he was suspect simply for appearing in an old picture with a questionable figure. It was really stupid, but also died down really fast particularly since there was no other news to feed it. I think it should be completely forgotten by the time the show airs so hopefully it won't affect the ratings.

Yes, I heard about this and then it just went away. Hopefully that is true in Korea as well. Seemed a whole lot of nothing.

Park Hae Jin's company official statement about that issue could be found in this link.
http://www.allkpop.com/article/2016/10/park-hae-jin-to-sue-netizens-and-media-that-talk-about-his-host-bar-rumor.

The scandal you mention are a rumour that is already ruled baseless by a court in 2011, so except those who salty, nobody cling on that to hate on PHJ now. Like they don't care given the state Korea are in now.
And really, "major of netizen" are kind of an overstatement, few comments with couple thousands vote you saw on netizenbuzz in the heat of the moment are not major of anything.
Since, 1. PHJ are not that big in Korea and 2.since when the actor who ""beloved by netizen" is the key to the success of the film? Don't you know anything about Lee Byung Hun or Kim Min Hee or Song Hye Kyo? Even in music, which was based alot on individual, that was not true, like the case of Mc Mong or Lee Soo or IU.
Let's wish this film have good plot, good direction, base on the name of the actors, i trust this film will have great acting. A must watch of next year.

First saw him in CIT. I do not know which side is right, but to me, complaining about the production team was not ethical. If he has a problem with them, he should have talked this with them, or even used legal ways if he thought that they wronged him. This is what a person who seeks justice or a solution to his problem should do. But he went to the press and accused people and ended up harming the drama, and all the people working hard for that drama. So even if he is right, involving us in this thing was wrong.
Then I have heard about the rumors about the way he skipped the army duty.
Now, these recent rumors too.

There is just too many rumors circulating and also the CIT scandal... And I saw him only in CIT, so his character in that drama is also not helping. I keep thinking that he is a shady person irl too.

I will try to watch this one, maybe seeing him as a positive character can reduce my prejudices about him.

Rumours are not something you must believe without checking the facts.

As regard to CITT, maybe you should read and understand from the very beginning. Make sure the sources are not from his anti-fans. Because what really happened is not merely what you thought of.

I am not sure taking the higher road is worth it when you're dealing with such unprofessional people in the first place. They usually just walk all over your higher road and your pride anyway. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember he did try to talk to them first before going to the press. Let's not forget the production team cut all communication with the webtoon writer as well after a few episodes.

Other actors have been wronged in the past or worked in very inappropriate conditions, but in the name of professionalism or in fear of public backlash, they refrain from even hinting at their dissatisfaction. And if they do, the media crucifies them for being ungrateful or unprofessional. Thus, nothing ever changes. So I personally think his bold move is a welcome change.

You think if he kept quiet, people would have magically changed their opinions over night and said the drama is awesome after all? Or the drama would have objectively turned into a quality piece? What about the webtoon writer, was she in the wrong too for talking to the press first? Or is everyone allowed to complain publicly, except him? He's only human, not a saint, nor a martyr. They botched the drama anyway, no amount of silence or pretending everything is fine for the cameras would have salvaged that mess.

How he "skipped army duty"? You meant how he got depression and the army exempt him since he unqualified according to law, and that exempt was ruled legit by court after a police investigation? Wow, that shady.
And the same court ruled the rumour you mentionn above is baseless but somehow you still bring that out. Nice.
The last time for the love of heaven, could people let that CITT (not CIT) out. PHJ wasn't the one who created the mess, whoever decided on switching the lead did, they are the one who mess up the film, not PHJ. And the audience was the first to notice, then the author of the webtoon so the press knew about it, they asked PHJ, why would PHJ have to go out of his way to lie? Until now, he is the only one who say apology to Soonki.
PHJ did contacted the director for month, but she did not reply.
And it's the production crew who inform PHJ about the vacation in Thaland, about the after party, and come back to make CITT movie with PHJ, if they was, by any meant, affected by his action, i don't think they will ever do anything like that.
So, whatever your impression of PHJ is, i don't care, but at least get your fact straight. especially the part about his illness. He battled his inner demon and come out strong. From a poor boy who have depression to the PHJ of today, the road is sure bumpy, but not his fault, don't make it the reason for your judgemental

Nobody involved fans..
It was a blatant base move from PD + TVN

PHJ is nowhere at fault. You gotta follow the whole story and then judge him. Whatever you said can't be more offmark than reality

His army duty - a legit medical reason. I don't know where you got your information from.

and character and real personalities need to be differentiated

You are right, I mean all the replies to my comment, you are right. I am sorry if I offended you. In my comment, I used the word "prejudice", because I know that I am not supposed to think that way just because of baseless rumors (is it rumours or rumors, sorry about my English) and his character in the CIT. Also, I am not really knowledgeable about any of the his scandals, just skimmed through the news about him here and there, so what I know about army exemption, CIT mess, and this last thing is definitely not a reference information. Only what he did in the CIT seemed unethical to me, he was like ditching his fellow actors and all the people working in that production. I just wanted to say that having this many "scandals" circulating about him, and his CIT character made me think negatively about him, and I am willing to watch him in a positive character to erase this image.

Have you not watched You Who came From The Stars? gthe one with Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun. Park Hae Jin is the second male lead their. Bad Guys is also a great drama. Cheese in the trap is not his best drama but please never throw words such as "shady" easily, casual people may believe in you.

Park Hae Jin made it from all the flop dramas to being the second male lead, from being unrecognized to being popular both inside korea and internationally, though he may not that big in Korea yet, but he is widely known internationally, more popular that some big name actors in korea. I hate it that people seem to forget his role in You Who Came From The Stars, he is real good looking their, a real prince charming than Kim So hyun, for me.

I am so looking forward with this drama.
