Welcome to the new Dramabeans!

You may notice that things look a little different around here. We’ve been working really hard to bring you a cleaner, more responsive, more interactive experience, and are very excited to welcome you to the new Dramabeans!
Don’t worry—it’s still really the old Dramabeans, and all of our content is still here… somewhere… maybe in a new corner of the site. We know that we’ve gone into your living room and rearranged all of your furniture while you were out, so we’re here to guide you and tell you where we put all your stuff. We even got your some spiffy new stuff to go with it!
User accounts. You are now able to claim your usernames for good by registering with the site. If you are a longtime user, sign up with the email associated with your comments; we’re doing our best to link your old history to your new account. With your account, you can now create a profile and post things on your fan wall, and also track all the comments you’ve made. (You can still comment without creating a user account, although you won’t get to use any of the account features below.)
Upvoting/Downvoting. The thumbs are back! Comments can now be given thumbs-ups and thumbs-downs, but only to registered users. Thumbs are super fun, so you should totally register.
Featured Beanies. The “Beanies” tab in the header will take you to a page that highlights you guys and your comments. Be an active Beanie and be featured here!
Following. Users can follow each other, reply on each other’s fan walls, and get notifications when your friends post content. You can also follow shows by going to a recap and clicking the “Favorite” button.
Beanie Levels. Every comment upvote you’re given, every user you follow (or are followed by), and every fan wall post you make accumulates points for your account! What is this good for? Not anything useful, but we have implemented point levels, which will change your Beanie status as you accumulate more points. In your profile page, you’ll see that your Beanie level starts off as “Candy” (because everybody starts out as a Candy in dramaland!). We plan to also display the point totals so you can actually see how many you have (this feature is coming soon!), as you work your way up to water maid, noble idiot, and contract girlfriend, among many others. We also plan to add comment counts to the point totals.
Notifications. Your account will notify you when someone follows you, when someone comments on your posts (on your fan wall), when someone likes your post, and when a show you’re following adds a new post (say, posts a new recap). We’re adding email notification capability very soon!
Recaps, News, and Extras. We’ve grouped everything into three overarching categories, as you can see from the front page. “Recaps” includes not only drama recaps but also drama reviews (say, year end reviews), What We’re Watching posts, Spill the Beans, and movie reviews. “News” encompasses all news (drama, movie, variety, celebrity). And “Extras” is where you’ll find Podcasts, Open Threads, Beans of Wisdom, Announcement and meta posts, and anything that’s not a recap, review, or news post.
Blog View. If you don’t like this division of categories and yearn for the olden days when everything was in nice reverse chronological order, don’t worry, we’ve taken care of you. The “Switch to Blog View” button in the header will take you to a simple page that displays all posts.
Glitches. We’ve tested the site extensively and prepared as best we could, but we know there will inevitably be some glitches as we all settle into the new site. If you encounter any, shoot us an email at hello@dramabeans.com. Screenshots are super helpful, as well as information about what device/platform you are using.
Thanks for all your patience and understanding—we’re beyond excited to present our new site to you, and hope you like it! We promise to work out the remaining kinks as quickly as we’re able. In the meantime, go forth and explore, Beanies!

Hello guys, sorry to ask, but I cannot register on this site. Everytime I try to register/sign up, there's only small dots circling around and that's it! No further confirmation, no verification on my email. That's why I can't login with my username. I wonder if it's only a glitch or because something else?

Keep trying. It took me a couple of hours before succeeding. On mobile.
It's more than 4 hours after registration and i did get the verification email sent message, but the emails still not in yet. However, i can still log in to post, like now.

Hi, feeling like the village idiot here, but is anyone else having trouble registering? I keep inputting my info, but nothing happens. There's no error msg popping up either, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. When I click on the space to type, it does say that the connection is not secure though. =(

As I was navigating the old recaps to add things to favorites, I did miss the first episode tag list... that was a handy way to find things. The search function didn't work for me.

Hey congrats on the new and better looking site, but for some reason I cannot register with my 4 letter name handle, I been on this site only a couple of months after you started Dramabeans, so I dont feel like changing my name just to register, maybe you guys can do something about that.

Yeah if you reload the page a couple of times, or go to another place on the site it will change eventually. It's just a temporary glitch.

Aloha, YY!! I haven't been on Open Thread a whole lot since MOON LOVERS started back in August, but posted in the latest one. Am currently active on the REBEL recaps. Am also live-watching SAIMDANG (no recaps for it, but I occasionally comment on it on OT and What We're Watching), and recently finished TOMORROW WITH YOU and VOICE. For about 7 months I've been live-watching and commenting on 4 shows at a time, which has been a record for me. (MOONLIGHT, SWEET STRANGER AND ME, BLUE SEA, GOBLIN, ROMANTIC DOCTOR [excellent, like BEAUTIFUL MIND]... plus have been marathoning a bunch of older shows including SOUL MATE, DISCOVERY OF ROMANCE, QUE SERA, SERA; SIX FLYING DRAGONS, TREE WITH DEEP ROOTS, TWO WEEKS, HERO, CAN YOU HEAR MY HEART?, BAD FAMILY, MAN OF THE VINEYARD, HONG GIL DONG... a whole passel of good ones. -- But enough about me. Where have you been hanging out? I've missed your comments as well. Hope to see you around some recaps soon. I'm avidly awaiting Shin Dong-wook's return to drama in LOOKOUT in May. Hang loose! ;-)

Wow, that's a LOTTT of shows. I have been at Strong Woman, camped there after Weightlifting Fairy, but it's finishing next week, and Man 2 Man takes over. I'm terribly excited about seeing PHJ again, this time as a bodyguard and so charming at that...I hope to see you there?

If you go to the recap for the show you want to add, there should be a Favorite button on the banner.

Haha, I think I just figured that out...shows also seem to have their own "profiles" now, if you go to dramabeans.com/shows/show-name-here you can favorite them there too.

The site looks amazing ladies! Been looking through my own comments (so convenient now) and one question: Is there any way to go to that exact comment on the feed where it is found on the new site? It would be cool to see if anyone answered you if you left the conversation too soon. I'll keep browsing to see if there is already an answer to this as well. Thank you for all the new features!!!

Somehow, i feel that the new look is too white for me >< Maybe I am too used to the previous look. However, eventually, I am sure that we will all get used to the new look and interface! Though, I am still sticking to blog view. :D

Oh yeah okay, it squashes it... I feel bad for nitpicking such a new site, like of course it's gonna have flaws, but the lack of next line function is definitely gonna get to me... especially if I have long rant to post D:
-that, the no edit tool, and the current extreme loading lag.
But you know, it's new. It's gonna have bugs, that will get evened out, and it still LOOKS AMAZING GUYS WELL DONE so I'll just wait and see what happens.

Congratulations on the revamp. New look is great. I have been a silent reader, but who knows these changes would finally tempt me to be active.
I have two things that make me a bit uneasy though. First is downvoting/ thumbs down. Wherever I have seen this feature it only leads to negativity and curbs unpopular opinion and genuine criticism. Second is public profile / fanwall and the fact that anyone can view / follow your comments history. A couple of other users are also apprehensive about this one. Maybe we can have option to private our fan wall?
But other than these two factors, everything is great and so convenient. Thank you for your hard work.

I don't mind if I can choose who can few my profile or not, but to think this feature makes it much more easy for any stranger lurking to stalk is a bit worrying. It feels invasive.

Yes, I'm mainly uneasy about the public comments wall so will stay as unregistered user for now. Anyone lurking before would have to trawl through all the recaps to find my comments - now it's just a click away. It would be great if that feature is only available to registered users.

Same. I'm doing that too. We'll be a small minority for sure, and miss out on all the convenient stuff. However, I'll exchange convenience for a little more privacy. :)
