other artists: I have 1.5 million youtube subscribers off my cliched bullet journalling and mainstream calligraphy here is my pen collection and tidy desk
me: i wing 90% of my drawings, i have a mustelid skull in a fish shaped jewelry tray among other things on my desk and i’m a chaotic mess. *dead maniac laughter* *sobs* *jumps out a window*
You just described all the artists I know who are doing wonderfully creative things. Not the youtube bullet journal person, but the chaotic mess with the skull in the fish shaped tray. I mean, not the specifics, but the chaos. (though my daughter might have a skull in her room. Does she? Oh man, I hope not… damn, now I can’t stop thinking about that.)
Update: when asked if there is a skull in her room, there was silence and a look down and to the left. Sigh. She does study scientific illustration, so I shouldn’t have thought otherwise.
Somebody has to illustrate textbooks, journals, informational posters, animation for documentaries or learning modules, etc. And since she has always been a very detailed in her drawing, and is very interested in the anatomy of living things, it’s a good fit.
I was just reminded of a YA book I read. The heroine wants to do anatomical drawings. I had never thought about how art students could go in these different directions. That is nice that she has found something that fits her so well.

My self deprecating attitude is a coping mechanism but not everyone gets it so reassuring them is necessary lol

This slow one appreciates the reassuring. Here, have some hot bean sprout soup. Itโs good for you.
